With westerly views over the Trent Valley and in the shadows of a ruined 18th-century windmill, this is a peaceful and scenic place to take a break indeed…
Well-positioned too, with a generous handful of pubs, restaurants and cafés a scenic 35 minutes’ walk away in Gunthorpe alongside the river Trent. Radcliffe on Trent and Bingham are five minutes’ drive away for any other amenities you might (supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs and the likes). And if you’re after even more of a buzz, Nottingham city centre is 25 minutes’ drive away.
Even with such good access to so many towns and the big city, the site itself is remote. It has 10 acres of hay meadows and woodlands for guests to explore and, of course, sublime sunsets over the valley. If you prefer to keep your whole stay pretty rural, the Vale of Belvoir and the historic Belvoir Castle are 20 minutes’ drive away from the site.
It’s no frills here. The grass and woodland pitches have facilities including water and portaloo access. Dogs are also permitted, as are barbecues.

Good things await for those who grab a berth at Weston Caravan and Campsite, in the Oxfordshire village of Weston-on-the-Green. For starters, space seekers should be pleased to see that there’s plenty of breathing room around this former dairy farm – excellent news for kids or dogs that need a bit of haring-about time after being cooped up in the car. Depending on where you’ve plonked down you may find that your nearest neighbours are the resident beef cattle, sheep or horses; it’s worth keeping your eyes open for sightings of the hedgehogs that often scuttle about the place too. Perhaps most crucially for those whose stomachs dictate a site’s success is the presence of a café that serves up a tempting range of freshly cooked goodies: breakfasts (no rush – they’re served all day), salads, cakes and coffees, plus cheeses, pies and the like to take away. The village is just a few minutes’ drive from the A34 and Junction 9 of the M40, making it both a useful stopover on cross-country voyages and a handy spot for Oxfordshire breaks (perhaps taking in Oxford, Blenheim Palace or bagging bargains in Bicester).

If you are looking for a peaceful, scenic place to pull up for the night in a campervan, Chrome Hill Campers near Hollinsclough is an absolute gem. Capped at just five pitches, it gives you all the quiet and privacy you could ask for without feeling overcrowded.
The shared toilet and shower block is modern, piping hot, and kept exceptionally clean. There is also a fresh water station, chemical disposal point, and outdoor dishwashing area.

Fab little campsite! Unmanned and runs like an honesty system which we really loved (although we wouldn’t have been shy to meet the faces behind the scenes lol). But not having to physically check in and be shown to a pitch etc gives that extra sense of feeling like you’re ‘wild camping’ with the security of being on a site. The fairy lights at night were a favourite little touch of ours and the facilities were super clean and tidy! The ONLY downside (and it’s very very minor) was that there was no onsite bin to dispose of our rubbish. (Apologies if this is mentioned and we missed it, then more fool us lol) but as we had our dog with us it was quite a challenge keeping her out of the rubbish that we had to take on the way home 😂 and so had we known we would have maybe brought a box or something we could have ‘locked’ it all away into. But all in all an incredible little campsite that feels exclusive with amazing views and perfect facilities! We can’t wait to return. Thank you! ☺️

The location is very nice. Bit tight for manoeuvring the vehicle around, but once in place, really nice. Fire pit and ash pan available at each pitch which worked really well. Was a windy weekend but the pitches offer very good protection from the winds. Toilets looked fine and the little wash up sink is more than adequate. Owner turned up a couple of time to check that everyone was ok and if any wood was required, good attention to the campers.

Fantastic camp site in an even greater location, they have a really great shower and toilet facility, and of course it is a small campsite for only 5 campervan which is exactly what you want if you value peace and quiet, the views are also absolutely stunning and the surrounding area is amazing, there are plenty of small villages and hikable areas very close by. And last but very not least, the hosts are amazing people, had a right laugh with them and they are incredibly friendly and welcoming, I would recommend to everyone and anyone looking for a campsite in the peak district m

Rosehip Campsite is just great.
Secluded woodland pitches with a balance of shade and sunshine. Clean and well thought out composting loos with hand washing area. Mains water as you enter the site.
Highlights for us were watching the many butterflies and also the bats as dusk turned to nighttime.
If, like us you love nature and peace you’ll love this campsite.
