A small family and pet friendly glamping and camping site that offers you a memorable holiday in Mérignac in the Charente-Maritime region of France.Merignac is only 10 minutes from the N10 highway, a peaceful village making an ideal holiday destination or just a 1 night stop over if heading south or north. Situated approximately 1 hour north of Bordeaux Airport and 1 hour from the west coast resort of Royan. The village is one of the communes in the ”Haute Saintonge”, a former historical province that has many old churches and examples of Roman art. It is a land of plains and hillsides rich in agriculture, viticulture with windmills to be seen in many areas, in one of the sunniest regions of south west France. Bellevues Glamping is a stunning site of an acre, with breathtaking views across the valley, typically surrounded by grapevines and sunflower crops. There is a 10 metre x 5 metre in-ground swimming pool for the whole family to enjoy a swim, ideal to cool off on those hot days. Plenty of grass for the children to run around and enjoy games. Beautiful views from pitches of grapevines and rolling countryside. After dark, gaze at the starry skies and catch a glimpse of shooting stars.It is a magical spot that Richard and Linda fell in love with in 2021, having relocated to France in 2020. The campsite re-opened in May 2023, welcoming guests who have all expressed how wonderful the site is and that they will return. Welcome to Home Sweet Lodge, a peaceful glamping retreat in the heart of the Dordogne, France. Set on a former vineyard, 20 minutes from Bergerac and 5 minutes from the quiet village of Saint-Germain-et-Mons, we offer a quiet escape with wide-open views over the Périgord countryside and Monbazillac.
Glamping, our way
Glamping is a form of camping, but at Home Sweet Lodge, GL stands for Grand Luxe: a comfortable, warm and relaxed way to enjoy your holiday.
Privacy and space
Only five luxury safari tents are spread across 8,500 m² of grounds, so you'll enjoy plenty of privacy, space and silence. Each tent is 50 m² including its terrace, and the view from every one of them is breathtaking.
Arrive and relax
Beds are made on arrival and towels are provided. Wifi and parking are free. Just bring your suitcase and your appetite for holiday.
Your hosts
We're Audrey and Sébastien. We live nearby and are always happy to help with local tips, answer questions or simply have a chat. From time to time we open our little bar, where guests can meet over a drink and a snack.
The safari tents
Each tent sleeps up to 5 people and offers:
A fully equipped kitchen: dishwasher, induction hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, Nespresso machine, blender and all the usual appliances
Cutlery, plates, cups and glasses for 5 people
A dining area and a sitting area
A bathroom with a spacious rain shower, sink and toilet
One bedroom with a double bed, and one with single and bunk beds
A terrace with a lounge set, bar table, picnic table, parasol, sunbeds and electric barbecue
Free wifi
Our tents are named after the grape varieties once grown here: Chardonnay, Grenache, Merlot, Sancerre and Sauvignon. Sauvignon is wheelchair accessible thanks to its location, step-free access and layout.
The swimming pool
Our outdoor pool is heated, so you can enjoy it in early and late season as well as in summer. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols around it, and the pool is fenced so young children can't enter unaccompanied.
Sports and games
There's always something to do, for young and old: a pétanque court, football field, basketball, table tennis, swings, a playhouse, trampoline, croquet, badminton sets and more.

Pets are welcome. A supplement per pet and per stay is payable on site. (Certain dog breeds classified as dangerous are not accepted.)

A lovely, quiet site and just as described. Linda and Richard are perfect hosts - extremely welcoming and friendly, while letting you get on and enjoy your holiday. The bell tent, horse box and kitchen were all spotlessly clean and very well equipped and maintained. The beds very comfortable and the tent spacious. We were very comfortable and happy there. Notably Linda and Richard took extra steps to make sure we were comfortable ahead of a particularly heavy storm. The steps were unnecessary in the end, the tent more than able to keep us dry and cosy during a night of heavy, heavy rain. But the precautionary steps they took spoke of Linda and Peter being thoughtful hosts.

We had a wonderful stay at Camp Laurent and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing campsite.
The campsite is very quiet and tranquil, making it a great place to unwind. The pitches are spacious, giving you plenty of room and all the facilities you could need are provided.
One of the unexpected treats was the delicious duck eggs, available when the ducks were laying — definitely worth trying! On hot days, the good-sized above-ground pool is perfect for cooling off and relaxing.
There’s also an excellent boulangerie and restaurant around 5 km away, which makes it easy to pick up fresh bread and enjoy a good meal without having to travel far.
A special mention must go to Tracey, who is always available to answer questions and help with any queries or issues. Her friendly and helpful approach really adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Overall, Camp Laurent is a peaceful, well-equipped and friendly campsite, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We’d definitely return!

Linda’s campsite was the highlight of our trip so far. We only booked on as a stopover on our way down south, but it was too nice to only stay a night so luckily she had space for us to stay an extra one. Small enough to be personal, but plenty of space on each pitch. Stunning views over the vineyards, spotlessly clean toilet and shower, as well as spotlessly clean and very welcome swimming pool in the heat of August. Very friendly welcome, we hope to return!
Only an hour north of Bordeaux so makes it a perfect stopover travelling up or down, however it deserves more than a stopover status!

Lovely quiet campsite with shady pitches and spotless bathrooms. 3-4 mile walk through farms tracks and quiet roads to St Laurent de Ceris where the restaurant is really recommended for typical local cuisine.

This is such a wonderful site. The view is absolutely incredible. We loved having the entire field to ourselves, and the facilities are very good too. There are beautiful walks and bike rides straight from the site, and amazing places to visit nearby. I would definitely recommend this site if you are looking for somewhere quiet with amazing views.

The campsite owners Chris and Jen are amazing, they go out of their way to help people and make sure they have a great stay. They are a hardworking couple and made the campsite and gites beautiful with excellent and very clean facilities. The swimming pool is great with shaded options,the atmosphere is very relaxed.Jen and Chris are always at hand if anything is needed from quiche to coffee to croissants or ice cream, which is amazing,just ring the bell! Everything you could wish for is thought of, ie cards on a table if you want to play cards under cover with a view if it rains ( it never long does if it does), fishing rods if you wish to fish in their lake, matches if you wish to make a cuppa in their barn kitchen even washing up liquid and clean brushes are there and a washing machine. We’ve had a very comfortable stay and our car broke down whilst here so Chris drove us all the way to the airport in Limoges to pick up our daughter and stopped at a supermarket on the way back so we could get some food as there’s little to no public transport here, and taxis are extortionately priced. You do hear the road from time to time but that’s nothing, compared to the sheer hospitality on offer, there’s a beautiful and peaceful forest and lake and the tipi and lotus bell tent are beautiful, there’s even a little glamping kitchen in the woods! Thanks J&C, for looking after us so well we had a super comfortable stay and for helping us out big time, during a tricky time for us!

What an absolute gem of a campsite! After being packed in like sardines at a previous site on this trip, this site was such a welcome change. Linda and Richard are fabulous hosts, and made us feel welcome from the start. Their lovely little pup Margot is also very friendly and super cute! The site is rural, surrounded by beautiful countryside. There was only one other van staying when we were there, but even if they had been full, it is spacious enough for everyone to have more than enough room and privacy. There's a washing machine that is 5 euros a load, a sink for dishwashing, a toilet and a shower - all really well kept and clean. There's also a lovely swimming pool , which was very welcome to cool off in on a very hot day. Richard also went the extra mile & went out to rescue my partner in his car, when he got lost on a "quick" cycle to the local boulangerie. 100% recommend & would love to visit again.,
