The hosts/owners were kind, thoughtful, professional, helpful, and nonobtrusive. This was the perfect stay and we hope to be back again. The location was walking distance to a very trendy downtown, which was incredibly convenient. You have to be okay with train noise.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sherry’s! They had the gate open and greeted us as soon as we arrived. The place was perfect for our needs! We were visiting friends for a couple of days and this place was only 7 minutes away. The lot is level it might take a minute to get backed in if you are inexperienced. I was able to back my 38ft diesel pusher in on the first try! The owners are right next door if you have any questions or they will leave you alone if you wish. Full hookups are a plus. 50/30 amp service. Walking distance from downtown. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely gracious hosts and a perfect location in Gilbert ! The neighborhood was safe, friendly, and quiet. The trains were not a bother and hardly heard them. The hosts are friendly, welcoming, helpful, and responsive. My dogs loved having the yard to hang out in secured all around and that was a huge plus for us. We would definitely stay again !

From the great initial contact from Sherry with clear instructions on how to get to, and back into, the site to the warm and friendly welcome on our arrival we had a fantastic one night stay in Downtown Gilbert. Don't worry if you're not used to backing in as Sherry's husband is on hand to help. They also warned about potential train noise which to be honest did not disturb us at all. Located very close to the historic area of Gilbert and to the local restaurants this is a brilliant location for a stay in Gilbert, especially if you're looking for a first night or more stay after picking up your RV rental.

The place was awesome! Don’t come in a Sudan though. The “road” up that mountain was very off road to say the least. There is mountain lions in the area, so it is definitely a good idea to bring bear spray or some other form of protection.

Great hipcamp with full hook ups just down the street from the Gilbert "avenue" of shops, restaurants & walking/biking paths. Gravel pad was level and long for easy maneuvering into place. The ramp from the street onto the pad was a little narrow and close to the rear fence line but our dually fit fine. Fenced in backyard was great for the dog and laundry inside the covered porch was easily accessible. Wifi worked well and was consistently reliable for work from home/video calls. We supplemented with Starlink and it worked well with no obstructions. Owners were helpful, accommodating and afforded us sufficient privacy given the close proximity to their home. Train crossing was pretty close and we heard the whistle roughly 4-5 times a day, occasionally at night, but overall no big deal.

Great camping spot. The view is absolutely stunning. It felt like waking up inside a painting. Reaching the site is challenging, with difficult terrain and tricky trail, but it is worth it.

The site is so cute! There are twinkle lights on the side of the house, a little fire pit, and some other cute touches. The pad had ample space for our 23’ travel trailer and SUV, and the FHU was much appreciated. The dogs were grateful to have some space to run around after many days on leashes, and they found the chickens fascinating. 😁
The train is definitely loud, so if you’re a super light sleeper or have children who are, that may be a deterrent. For us, it was no big deal; the one time it passed when we were asleep, we just rolled over and went back to sleep. We would definitely stay here again!

We were there for a wedding and were busy with everything so we didn’t get to spend any time in Gilbert, but our stay with Adam and Justine was fantastic. We have three dogs, and one that is obsessed with chickens. Adam and Justine have chickens so she was immediately in heaven. The RV site is level and enclosed and very safe and comfortable. Full hookups with 50 and 30 amps. Whenever we travel to that area, that’s where we’ll be staying. Safe, comfortable and accommodating.

Where to go
Marne Valley
South of Reims, the vine-clad slopes of the Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park provide a verdant backdrop for hiking and biking. From here, the Marne River winds its way west through the Marne Valley, leading the way to family-run vineyards, fairy-tale châteaux, and the Champagne villages of Hautvillers, Châtillon-sur-Marne, and Château-Thierry.
Champagne Tourist Route
The official Champagne Tourist Route comprises six different marked trails totaling more than 370 miles and linking the region’s principal wine-growing regions, Champagne cellars, and vineyards. Stop off in Epernay to stroll down the Avenue de Champagne, sip Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs, then cycle through the green vales of the Côte de Bar.
Ardennes Regional Natural Park
Just an hour’s drive north of Reims, the wooded hills and untamed countryside of the Ardennes Regional Natural Park are peppered with WWI and WWII battlefields, sleepy rural villages, and rocky cliffs. Mountain bike enthusiasts will be in their element here, but you can also hike the hilltops, explore natural caves, and camp out in the wilderness.
When to go
Summer, especially July-Aug, brings huge crowds to Reims, and it’s worth timing your visit for the quieter (and cheaper) months of spring or fall instead. Speaking of fall, this is harvest time at the region’s many Champagne vineyards and the ideal time for tasting. The main camping season runs from April through October, but don’t be put off by a winter visit—Reims Christmas markets are rightly popular, and seasonal snowfall renders the city even more magical.
