Come enjoy the peaceful tranquility of our rustic little Shack on the 113 acre farm of rolling hills + open fields set by the edge of the forest. Previously used as the hot chocolate shack for our tree farm business which has finished after a 30 year run. The Shack is completely "OFF GRID" and you can get a feel for staying amongst the sounds of nature and possibly find yourself shutting off your phone and really enjoying the quiet peaceful escape. Sitting by a bon-fire at night, with the stars bright in the dark sky. Enjoying a good book or a walk on the property looking out for Wild Turkey's, Coyotes, Raccoons, Ground hogs and a variety of Bird's. Take an evening walk to the top of the hill to catch a beautiful farm sunset over the corn fields. Local businesses nearby are Brooks Farm Playground and Market 2 min up the road. Rose Family Farm with fresh cut fries 4 min away. Musselman's Lake is a 6 min drive to enjoy the fabulous Fishbone on the Lake, casual outdoor dining. In nearby Stouffville find Timber Creek Mini Golf, Gallucci Winery, Willow Springs Winery + Tree top trekking at Bruce's Mill. With many hiking trails in the area including Eldred King Woodlands, Vivian forest Trails, Durham Regional Forest and almost directly across the road and slightly south of our property new York Region Forest walking/hiking trails can be accessed. Nearby restaurants in Ballantrae. In the quaint little town of Mt. Albert 5 min with an LCBO in it open till 8pm daily. Ballantrae Ultramar 6 min away also has an LCBO open till 11 pm daily. Uxbridge is nearby and a large variety of restaurants and shopping Lots to check out in the area, or simply stay put at The Shack and enjoy cooking a meal on the BBQ in the outdoor kitchen area (propane included) and relaxing by the bonfire (wood included). The Shack is equipped with some cooking items, pots + pans, BBQ and utensils, knives, cutlery, plates, coffee cups, bowls, glasses + (wine glasses) cutting board, tray, kettle and a small chest cooler to keep your food and drinks cold (you will need to bring the ice) Dish washing rack is provided, as well as large jugs of clean potable water for cooking/drinking and doing the dishes. Please bring your garbage bags! Extra cooler is also provided. The Shack sleeps 3 people comfortably, with 2 bunks and 1 single size sofa-bed. Pillows and Bedding ARE NOT included. Welcome to Laurenwood Farm! New for 2024: Due to health reasons the farm is fallow this season. It is still a quiet, peaceful escape to the country and you can enjoy all of the amenities but there will be no veggie boxes this season and there are fewer animals to visit. We do have some items available such as honey and syrup. The farm is a 100-acre working livestock and organic mixed produce farm with picturesque views, miles of wooded trails, and a beautiful little fish pond. Fresh organic veggies and farm-fresh eggs are available seasonally. Guests are welcome to wander the trails, check out the pond and gardens, and have a guided tour to experience meeting the animals. Nearby are several conservation areas and access to the Bruce Trail. Walking, biking or horseback riding is very pleasant on the quiet country roads around. There are many local fairs and festivals in the surrounding villages, such as the Beeton Honey Festival and Tottenham Bluegrass Festival. Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Weekend Trip to Higgins Farm in the Forest

We had a really nice two-night stay at this forest cabin on a sibling trip. Anna and family were super kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin was cozy and quiet, and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the woodstove. We also spent time snowshoeing and enjoyed a fire at the outdoor fire pit, which made the stay even better. Overall, it was a relaxing getaway and a great place to unplug and enjoy nature.

Excellent stay for a romantic getaway. If you think a wood burning sauna big enough for 4, a shower big enough for a table and bench, and a hot tub just outside your door makes for a perfect getaway, this is your place. The fridge was big enough for a three night stay, unlimited firewood, and all the oils, lotions and scents one could ask for. Truly a great place to be with the one you love, and your dogo. Could there have been a table inside for us nerds to puzzle on? Sure. But the floor works too. Would go back.

Such a lovely place to relax and get cozy! The A-Frame is super comfortable and cute, outhouse was clean, shower with heated water was amazing, and hot tub/sauna was definitely a plus! Wow! We came in mid October to see the autumn colors. What a great experience! First off the hosts are amazing and very helpful. The lodge itself is very comfy, the bed is super clean and comfy as well. There's enough firewood for the whole stay (2 Nights). Oh and our dog loved it as well! The place is around 20 min drive away from any nature hike, and there are plenty in the area. Highly reccomend

The cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway, it's beautifully designed and maintained and is tucked away in the woods which gives you your privacy and lots of trails to explore. I went in early October so got to see beautiful fall colors. Yvonne and Glenn were wonderful hosts, very friendly and lovely people. I'd definitely recommend this place.

The cabin was great, clean and spacious. It also smelled amazing!! We had a bit of trouble with the hot water at the shower, but after finicking with the ignition and propane tank we managed to get it working. TIP: you have to make sure you successfully ignited the heater which can take a dozen tries. Turn the water on and wait for 30 seconds until a continuous stream of hot water comes out.

We really enjoyed our stay at the A frame! The space was cozy and comfortable, and it had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway.
