Tryfan Forest

We stayed at the Hemlock Grove site with 7 people, 3 cars and had plenty of room! We had 2 hammocks and 3 tents, this site is great for hammocking. Brent was very accommodating and provided all the information we needed. Unfortunately we got hit with some bad weather, but I would recommend Tryfan Forest to anyone looking to enjoy a quiet weekend on a beautiful piece of land.

First time here and the host was very welcoming. We picked a spot close to the water but there was no car access to the site so we had to change it at the last minute. The host was very accommodating and made the changes without any issue. We like the site we chose and would come back again.

Bret was a fantastic host! Very easy to communicate with and flexible. The campsite is perfect if you’re looking to spend quality time immersed in nature, away from crowds. Thank you for the complimentary canoes, kayaks, and lake access. I wish we had caught more fish, but overall it was an amazing experience!

The experience was not good overall, first our spot (point 1) was occupied by a guest that booked point 2 spot and didn't had any intention to move saying that you gave her approval to stay since it wasn't booked. We didn't get any dolly carts available and had to carry everything in two trips back and forth to the parking. It needs to be made clear about the trail length, at some point we thought we were lost.

loved every moment being there. the trail to the campsite was very well maintained and once we got to the campsite the view was so beautiful. very large picnic table on site 1 which came in handy! spent most of our time on the dock and in the lake swimming:) will 100% be back!

Such a private area ! Perfect for camping! Right on water. The only thing I would have changed was bringing a fold up picnic table ! The table available there was small, and the top wasn't secured to the legs, so we had to balance the top out with heavy things so it didn't tip ! So bring a fold up table with you when you go ! But other than that it was great !! We LOVED how big our area was. No complaints !! We brought our 1 year old with us and he loved it.

Raven’s Point was a fantastic choice for our first Hipcamp booking! Very relaxing, great hiking, and easy to get to by canoe which was necessary for my partner! The lake was busier than expected with lots of boats and cottages around, but we had a really chilled time and the campsite still feels private. Interesting small wildlife around the campsite, including an inquisitive and friendly little turtle. Our dog loved every minute. Five stars; we had a great time. Ravens Point 1 is a lovely spot.

Raven Site 1

The tent camping was great! We had a good spot to pitch our tent and put up a tarp. The site was quite spacious and included many extras including rope, kayaks, hammock and other little handy items to use for cooking. We canoed to the site and we got to it fairly quickly. It would’ve been beneficial to have some landmark or sign to let us know of the site. We also hiked the trail and it was well labelled coming from the parking to the site but not the other way around. Nevertheless our camping trip was amazing with beautiful views and a great dock to fish from. Would definitely come back again! Brent was great to respond to messages and questions.

The site had not been cleaned. There was garbage from the previous campers in several places. The thunder box was full. We actually had to tamp it down to be able to use it. The food box was full of garbage. After two texts to the owner, he finally showed up at 8:30 at night. By that time we had made alternate arrangements for our food and suggested that he go home and do it in the morning since it was so late. He got upset at that and left. We never saw him again.

Beautiful spot once you get to the camp site! Definitely canoe in over hiking it…the hike was not easy with the cart provided. The path to the canoes is to the right when you get to the parking lot and the hiking path is to the left. There definitely needs to be more signs and instruction on how to get to the site. We got lost a couple of times and the only way to identify the campsite is a tiny number on a tree that is not easy to see! Our toilet was completely full when we got there and I messaged Brent about it but unfortunately it was never dealt with. Communication with Brent was not great. The dock was beautiful and the water was peaceful. This place has so much potential, just needs a little more signage and instruction from the host!

Ravens point 1 tryfan forest

My family of seniors camped at ravens point 1. Very nice campsite. All three sites are very nice. Site 2 and 3 share a thunderbox which could make for some uncomfortable moments. Brent met us at arrival and mentioned that he needed to go clean the thunderbox and a food box that was filled with garbage. We waiting all day for this to happen and at 9:00pm we decided he was not coming so we put our food away and were preparing for bed when Brent showed up. My sister thought that he didn’t need to do it in the dark and suggested he do it tomorrow instead. Brent immediately turned around and stormed off. Left the box disgusting and left a pile of garbage all week. Likely still there. Other things to know is the lake is very shallow and not very good for swimming. Weedy and very silty. Way over priced. Stay at a provincial park instead.

Hemlock grove site tryfan firest

Hemlock grove site has not been prepared for campers properly. The combustable material around the fire pit caught fire as soon as we got one going. Need to move it from the fire pit area. We were lucky to catch it. The grounds also need work. Lots of left over tree shoots. Brush saw the area so tripping hazards are gone. Toilet is right next to the road and is easily viewed. Maybe a screen of some type. No water access. Overall a very disappointing campsite. Zero stars for this one. Rain was forecasted so we left. No reason to stay.

A Go To Spot for Anyone

It was by far the most beautiful place to go, mosquito’s are crazy but if you come prepared it shouldn’t be a problem. The campsite was absolutely perfect, just be ready for a pretty decent hike I would pack light for sure or bring some type of hiking backpack. I would go again and again

Beautiful spot! Brent is super helpful and accommodating. It’s a nice quiet lake, there are cottages but not close to the site. It’s always nice to go to sleep to the sound of the loons. Will definitely return.

Sand Flats, Tryfan Forest

A really nice place with a great view. There are other cottages on the lake but it's still a very scenic spot. Brent was very helpful in answering my questions and with the canoe and firewood. You can hike to the campsite or take a canoe. The journey definitely adds to the experience and beats typical car camping, as long as you're up for it. Be prepared to take everything in and out.

A genuine vacation getaway!

Tryfan House

Core memories were made for our family thanks to Brent and his wonderful property. We definitely overpacked as we were not expecting the cottage to be stocked with more than what our party needed. This was absolutely beyond Glamping. The cottage was very easy to find, and very conveniently located minutes away from the town of Gooderham, where more essentials could easily be purchased should the need arise. Stepping through the doors upon our arrival was literally a magical experience for the kids, an hour long experience of “ouu’s” and “wow’s”. The cottage was spotless and at a perfect relaxed temperature thanks to the AC. We had plans to spend a day or two in Haliburton which was just half an hour away but honestly we preferred the serenity of the cottage and the surrounding land. We spent most of our time fishing off the docks, and our whole group caught exceptionally sized Bass (we must’ve came across a school of them because there was a point where two members hooked onto largies at the same time!) The BBQ required a new propane tank and Brent came through on the double, as Wel as providing us with the Wifi Password. All our questions and concerns were promptly addressed and I honestly could not think of a negative aspect of this trip. We truly hope this property will be available next summer because we’re already planning our next visit out there.

The host was fantastic and extremely accommodating! We really appreciated his responsiveness and his willingness to make a way for our group to have the best possible experience, even willing to switch our camp site around for Us because we were such a large group. The forest is absolutely beautiful and the hiking trails were great. We did get a little turned around looking for landmarks on the hike so a bit more postage would be helpful but that was the only downside!

Loved the site, very spacious, very clean (except for some trash left by the last visitors, who should be ashamed of leaving stuff behind), and a very well maintained site. Had canoes and kayaks available for use at no extra charge. Had a wonderful time camping and would highly recommend it!

Best camping spot out there!

We absolutely loved our site! It's very spacious and private surrounded with nature, the gorgeous sunsets on the dock are stunning! I would say bring only what you need to prevent yourself from having to make multiple trips on the canoe or by forest trail.. With that being said it was absolutely lovely having a canoe to get around the lake during our whole stay. If you love nature and enjoy camping but also love your privacy while enjoying nature this is the perfect place and if you're even considering it I would say book it now. We will definitely be back (hopefully) in the fall. I can only imagine how gorgeous it will look with all the trees changing colour ✨🔥🌌🏕️❤️

A great camping spot!

It’s a really good spot. The trek is not bad. Roughly 20 mins. We had 2 friends canoe 75% of our stuff till the point 2 so it was good. Place was a bit spacious too and the cherry on the top was the small island 5 mins via canoe from the camp ground. Would definitely go again.

The site itself was wonderful, amazing view of the lake and great breeze to keep the bugs away! Lots of room for tents and chairs and maybe the best picnic table I've sat at. That said we struggled to find the site, taking over 2 hours on a hot day and plenty of horse flies in the forest made a difficult first day. The host was helping other campers and wasnt responsive to help. The Johnny on the spot was a bucket with a box around it at our site and looked like it wasnt cleaned in a long time and nearly unusable. More clear direction how to find the site would be super helpful, providing the GPS location or mapping on all trials would have made the overall experience much better.

We camped at Raven 3. A beautiful and secluded part of the lake. Brent was helpful and it's a perk to have a host for camping to drop off bundles of wood or to answer any of your questions. Canoes were provided. The 2k trek was too much for our young kids, but luckily we had the canoes to take us the 20m paddle across the lake. Thank you Brent
