This was our fourth time at Don’s very private campsite and we had an awesome time. Beautiful sunsets and great canoeing plus Don’s extra touches like firewood (for purchase), lots of potable water, and a clean outhouse. This is our favourite spot and it did not disappoint!

This was our third time here this season and we love it so much we booked another trip next month! Sitting by the river with our coffee and a book has become our new favourite way to unwind after a busy week. Our kids love being able to swim and paddle board right off the site, and they are still in direct sight line!
Plenty of space to set up multiple tents, and the dining shelter came in handy on a wet morning. Tons of shade but some sunny spots, too, ideal mix of spaces.
There is a bit of poison ivy around the edges of the site so take a peek around to make sure you know where it is.
This has quickly become our favourite family get away and we will be coming back again and again!

Our second time here and it definitely didn't disappoint. Don's place is amazing. The river was just the right temperature, the wild life was everywhere, caught lots of fish, lost a lot of fish but that's fishing. Lol. This is one of our favorite spots to come. Absolutely privacy. We will be back next year for sure. Thanks Don for another unforgettable camping trip.

The dogs and I had a wonderful stay at the private site on the water!
The signs into site were very easy to follow with lots of space to park and turn my large suv around.
The outhouse is close to camp but also offers privacy.
The site has a few places where tents can be pitched. Theres two ropes for clothes lines as well as a covered picnic table.
In the dining area there is also a homemade cabinet with locks.
The water has a small current but was very enjoyable to swim in and not cold this time of year.
There is multiple size grills to cook over the fire and three muskoka chairs a small table and additional plastic chair.
There is a small loop that you can walk to do something on the property. It is secluded to your site as the other ones aren't on the loop path.
We look forward to booking again! Don was very easy to connect with and ask any questions with fast replies.

Lovely private tent spot by the Tay river.
Don created a little piece of paradise for folks to unwind, paddle, fish, watch Blue Herons, turtles, beavers, waterfowl, birds, fire flies… you name it. Had two great days at the Stewart Park Festival (5 min drive to downtown Perth) and breathtaking morning paddles on the Tay.
Bring mosquito repellent.

Our new favourite getaway!

We can stop searching: we have found our favourite spot! 100% private, a perfect site with sun, shade, and direct water access. There is no one around and the only sounds are traffic in the distance and the odd train. The loudest part was the frog choir! Don was a fabulous host, easy to reach and very accommodating. Having a big jug of water and chairs there already (3 muskoka style chairs) were a plus. We have already booked two more stays for the summer!

Don was efficient at communication and very friendly. Site #1 however was a field of grass taller than me as far as the eye could see. Firewood was an extra cost. Based on other Hipcamp experiences this site was overpriced for what it offered.

We loved visiting Don’s place. We had last minute issues with our trailer and had to leave it home. Don offered to rent us his rustic cabin right on the River instead of our campsite. Great river for kayaking, though we would have liked to have paddled further than the river allowed in either direction. Don makes fresh water available, his outhouses are clean and his firewood burns well. Despite the unseasonably cold weather, we had a great weekend. If you’re looking for the off grid cabin, it’s under Tiny Homes in Perth Canada on AirBnB.

We recently spent a wonderful day at this private campsite by the river, and it was absolutely fantastic! My son and I enjoyed fishing and hiking, soaking in the beauty of nature. The surroundings are incredibly cozy, peaceful, and inviting—truly a hidden gem. A perfect spot for a family adventure and relaxation. Highly recommended!

Had another fantastic stay on Don’s property! The sound of trains was a bit more frequent than our last visit, but we didn’t mind at all! The shelter over the picnic table on the campsite did wonders for blocking some of the brisk winds.

Fantastic site! My best friend and I both rented out the two campsites and it made for a perfect weekend! As shown on the pictures and then some. Super nice host, very responsive. Great weekend overall, we will definitely be back!

My husband and I got this site for 4 nights, we were very happy with the site, Don was nice and very easy to talk to. We travelled back and forth to the perth fair all weekend, the site was very close. I would definitely recommend.

What a fantastic camp site. Incredibly private. The river is easy to get in and out of. It has a strong current which made it hard for the kids to swim but the loved being near the shore. The fishing was fantastic. We lots of wildlife around us. We even had turkeys visit us early in the morning. We didn't get to meet Don but he was very accommodating to us. The kids already want to go back.

We didn’t see another person during our stay and that was fantastic! There were so many thoughtful amenities included that were not mentioned in the listing and Don responded immediately when we had questions. The small trail loop was a beautiful walk with all of the butterflies. We will definitely return!

From the time I pulled up and saw how amazing this site was and how organized Don was. I was happy I chose this site for my weekend get away.
Don had fresh water there and ready for me, wood and kindling. We were totally secluded, this really is a private campsite. The outhouse was clean which was a huge bonus. I would definitely book again unless this review causes a flood of bookings.

We spent a wonderful weekend at Don's camping site (#2). The site is located on an absolutely amazing river shore, surrounded by a lot of trees, offering great privacy. We enjoyed swimming and fishing. Don provided us with tap water, firewood, and several chairs. The fire pit is very convenient. Don was always available for any questions and responded within minutes. The site is very close to Canadian Tire, a gas station, supermarkets, and more. Perth is a very cute town to visit! Thank you, Don! We will be glad to come again.

I absolutely loved Don's campsite, it is a completely secluded lot. Absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway, direct water access for kayaks, would absolutely recommend this site for anyone looking for a secluded quiet getaway.

Camping here was fantastic! It was a big campsite with a clean outhouse, firepit (with chairs) and a covered picnic table. The best part was the direct access to the Tay River (and the privacy). We SUPed from the camp right into downtown Perth (about 7.5km round trip) and it was awesome! The river is very clear, slow-moving and had no motorized boats. It was great for swimming right off the campsite. We were having some issues finding the site the first night, and Don texted me back right away to help. The potable water and firewood that he supplied were also very helpful. We are definitely hoping to return to this site.
