If you're looking for the true Iowa country camping experience, this is it! The owner's are super friendly and the campsite is right along the raccoon river! So cool! I saw many Bald Eagle's flying up and down the river. This spot, I highly recommend.

Nice spot, great host
This was a really peaceful spot on the banks of the Raccoon river. It's a single-site so it's got good privacy. It's close enough to the animals on the farm that you can hear them, which was nice. I particularly enjoyed the distant rooster in the morning. Lots of birds. One downside was that you can see tons of fish in the river, but the bank is too tall and steep for access. You can access the river about a half-mile away though. We'll do that next time. The host is super-friendly. Definitely recommend it!

This was a perfect spot. We even saw an actual raccoon within five minutes of arriving at Raccoon River! Our hosts were gracious and the stay was private and beautiful.

Great stay- quiet, safe and private. The host is friendly and welcoming and communication was very quick. The site is a corner of their property not far from the house & barns (and potable water & portapotty) that they are in the process of improving even more, including stabilizing the riverbank. Easy to find and easily accessible with my low-clearance FWD car. Very peaceful stay!

We had a lovely stay here! The farm is beautiful and our hosts were lovely and helpful. They were very friendly and we loved learning about the work they are doing to preserve the Raccoon River. We really enjoyed spending time with the cows too! We would definitely stop here again!

What a gorgeous & private campsite. Oriented my tent so the sunrise came right in my “window” and woke up to the sounds of the river and the birds. Stephanie and Jonathan were good & helpful hosts. 5/5 would stay here again!

Tent camping on the Raccoon River
This place was great. Despite pouring down rain, Brian took the time to chat with me in the barn and tell me a bit about the farm. He got me set up in a spot where I was least likely to get stuck, and I had a great peaceful sleep. In the morning Stephanie helped when I had a bit of van trouble. Additionally, the setting along the edge of the river was beautiful. I’ll be back if I’m in the area. Highly recommended!

Nice, private stay on the river.
This stay was wonderful! We didn't get to meet the host since they were working in the fields but Stephanie still sent us directions. Be warned, cell service may be tough. My husband has US Cellular and had great service. I have Verizon and it was a bit spotty.
The spot itself was private and right on the water. The little solar lights were very cute! A nice view of sunset and sunrise. There was a picnic table and large fire ring provided. The gas station in town didn't have firewood for sale that day but we found enough fallen timber on the property. I didn't visit the toilet but my husband did and he said it was mediocre.
Also, just be aware that this is next to a working farm and other farms so you will hear animals and trucks over on the road. It didn't bother us but just want others to know. The cattle were very fun to visit! We would recommend this to people that like primitive/dispersed camping.

Stephanie was a great host. She was really responsive and super accommodating of our unexpectedly late arrival. The site itself was easy to get to and the twinkly lights were really helpful. The cattle on property were so friendly and provided the best greeting!

A Charming Oasis
Stephanie's place is not one you want to miss! While we were originally interested in this little spot because of the wonderful highland cows (who wouldn't be?), the campsite itself was wonderful- we wouldn't have asked for more! From the beginning of our communications, Stephanie was generous with her time and did everything to make sure our stay was comfortable. We are very COVID-conscious and wanted to minimize our exposures, which Stephanie totally respected- she met us socially-distanced and with a mask. The site is tucked away along the river with a stand of trees between you and their home- you would never know they are there! We set up in a little clearing between the river and a huge field, which our dog absolutely loved running through! We happened upon the rising full moon during our stay, and the nature sounds at night were delightful. The grounds were clean and nicely maintained and conducive for tent camping as well. Provisions are a short drive away, and the hose on site is great for refilling water bottles and hand-washing. And the cows... where to start? Stephanie kindly left out treats for us to feed them (not sure if we or the cows appreciated this more!), and we spent the late afternoon getting to know the herd. At one point Stephanie came out to give the cows their dinner and some brushing and pets- it was wonderful to see her interaction with each! And of course they make the perfect models- especially little Hank! We would come back in a heartbeat!

Chill site overlooking river.
Nice little space by the river.
Hosts are very responsive and hospitable.
We took a couple walks with our two boys (3 years and 6 weeks) to see the cows who also greeted us, and our older son used the grass road to the camp site, with a slight decline, to practice his bike riding!
The only real surprise we had was the amount of black flies, not a huge deal, just something to prepare for with an extra bottle of bug spray.
Cell service was okay but not not great. My wife drove a few minutes back into town for a zoom call just to ensure the call wasn’t dropped. Other than that no worries.
Nice and quiet, easy to get to, near the River, all good.

Excellent spot off the beaten path
I had a lovely stay at this secluded and beautiful site! Jonathan and Stephanie were so friendly and welcoming. And their cows are adorable. If you go make sure to check out the adjoining Rainbow Bridge Park. I would definitely come back sometime!

Excellent HipCamp experience
I car-camped overlooking the river and was treated to spectacular sunsets and wildlife. I was met as I drove in and led to the campsite. Stephanie and Jonathan’s communication was excellent! I would definitely stay here again.

This place was amazing and exactly what I was looking for. Secluded on the Racoon river. Only stayed for a night but wish it could have been more. The host was so friendly and offered water and restroom. Happy camping !

Perfect getaway
Stephanie was an AMAZING host with a beautiful piece of property. We chose between the 2 massive areas, and ended up staying on the “high cliff” side. Stephanie’s installed solar lightbulbs that string along side a small fence on the cliff side which makes for very nice ambient lighting while sitting around the fire. Not too much, not too little; just right. The property is meticulously well maintained and was pretty easy to get level on, even with a big loaded 4runner. Camp was extremely private and quiet, the only noises to be heard was the raccoons across the river and the large buck that wandered near our camp grunting at about 5:00am 🤣🤣. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will be back!
