Sagewinds Farm High Desert Camp
Very quiet and secluded campsite
Overall I think it's a fantastic campsite! I camped here for one night. I was the only camper on that day, so I got to choose where I wanted to set up my tent. Ellen introduced me to the two campsites, one uphill and the other in the valley. I ended up with the uphill one. The view is just amazing. The night sky blew my mind. I saw so many stars. The only issue I had was that on the second day, the wind turned out to be pretty strong, and the stakes of my tents were forced out of the ground. I was very worried that the tent would be blown away or broken, but I was glad that it didn't. So I suggest watching out for the weather forecast, especially the wind. Also, I brought my own portable toilet, dish sink, water tank with the faucet, and drinking water. They were very helpful since the flush toilet and sink in the barn are far away from the campsite. The fire rule is a bit confusing to me. On the website, it says that even a gas stove cannot be used, but then Ellen rents propane bottles and a fire pit. I ended up using my own stove with gas bottles, because Ellen's was too big for a single person's use.

Sagewinds Farm High Desert Camp
The Sage Farm is a magical spot! This is our second time camping there. Love the hikes on the property as well as visits with the ponies. Beautiful night skies and star gazing. Ellen is a terrific host, but the gems of the property are the friendly dogs that will greet you on arrival.

Sagewinds Farm High Desert Camp
Ellen and her sweet dogs greeted us on arrival and led us on a wonderful tour of the property. We had a comfortable camp site with a beautiful view. It was so relaxing and quiet. We absolutely loved waking up, saying hello to the dogs then going on an incredible hike on the property. We will for sure come back. It was the perfect get away!

Ellen is such a terrific host and her property is so beautiful and peaceful. Our campsite was very accessible and had everything we needed. Her very cute and friendly dogs came to visit throughout the day and were always welcome. Would absolutely recommend this campsite and would stay here again!

Sagewinds Farm High Desert Camp
Lynne and I loved our stay with Ellen at Sagewinds Farm. We spent two nights at the sacred canyon site, near the horses, fragrant white sage and awesome bouldered peaks. We could spend days exploring the myriad trails and scrambling around the boulders -- and we will! If you stay here, you have to check into her tie dye and sage shop. We picked up some stunning shirts and a few bundles of sage as mementos of our stay. And last but not least, Ellen is a fascinating host, full of humor, energy and hippie goodness! We'll be back!

Sagewind farm has good energy
Sagewind farm was such a delightful little gem and the perfect get away. There are two different spots to choose from when camping here. We chose the sacred canyon, which has an amazing view. They have several fun hiking trails in the land as well. The host, Ms.Ellen, is such a sweet and wholesome lady. We definitely would come here again.

Ellen is amazing! Such an awesome energy and very kind hearted. Her and her husband have a BEAUTIFUL property with lots of awesome things to explore. Amazing dogs on the property and two cute little mini horses add to the experience. Weather was perfect, landscape was perfect, hosts were perfect, experience was awesome!

Sagewinds Farm High Desert Camp
Incredible starry nights + horses!
Ellen is the most wonderful host! And we were so impressed with how creative, tenacious & artistic she is, creating beautiful tie-dye garments, paintings, and sage bundles and doing all the work across their lands. The property is a dream, and perfect for camping. We were able to get our sprinter camper van through the gates to the larger camp spot behind the horse stables. The tree through the first gate hangs a bit low if you have a high vehicle, but she was okay with my son climbing up onto our van to break the lowest branches off so it wouldn't damage our solar panels. They have 4 lovely pups and 2 beautiful miniature horses that we enjoyed playing with. The night sky is stunning here! It is so dark and peaceful, and you can see the milky way plus so many shooting stars clearly, it was magical. The whole 40 acres are yours to explore while you are there, this is the perfect getaway. The next day we went further up the road to check out Jacumba Hot Springs, the Grand Tower, and Coyote's Flying Saucer Retrievals and Repair. Coyote is quite a character, fun to talk to and his spot is quite the quirky desert attraction. We will 100% be back again soon. Thank you Ellen!

Friendliest Owner and gratful land
Played with the 3 dogs and ponies. Climbed the mountain and set up new trail marks for future travelers. Bought tie-dye cloths best cloths NA. Great long talks that we both enjoyed. Enjoyed the perimeter and cave with hammocks for anyone to use. Easy access to get to everything, even the mountain.

Better than an AirBnb
A wonderful gem of a land with amazingly kind host! You'll be greeted by a curious pack of gentle dogs, which we enjoyed having around. Even our dog who isn't the most socialized had fun exploring with them! Seeing the Milky Way so clearly was such an unexpected treasure. Try spending some time in Jacumba's Lake (The water is perfect!) and don't forget to check out Ellen's tie-dyes!

Ellen was extremely welcoming but not at all intrusive. Her entire property is open for exploration and it is very cool. We also enjoyed playing with her dogs and petting the mini horses. Our city dogs got along fine and were unscathed aside from a few cactus needles in paws. The lake is pretty neat and worth going into town for.

We had such a wonderful stay at Sagewinds Farms! It was peaceful and the property is huge. We got to do a few beautiful hikes, enjoy the cave hammocks to cool down, and had plenty of privacy at our site. Ellen was an awesome host and I couldn’t recommend this site any higher. 😊

Sagewinds Farm High Desert Camp
Amazing desert camping
This was our second trip to Sagewinds Farm, because it is one of the best places we have ever camped over more than 50 years of camping. The scenery is spectacular and rivals that of some of our national parks, but - unlike national park campgrounds - the solitude is unsurpassed. We were the only campers on the 40 acre site, with views that stretch off miles distant (including Mexico, which is only a mile or so away.) Best of all, our dog could be off-leash, and play with Ellen's farm dogs, which made him so happy. Highly recommended!

Stunning backdrop though windy
Beautiful property with stunning views and nice trails to explore. The key consideration however is how to grapple the wind. We found it a bit too much after a day but suspect others may have more patience. Or perhaps it dies down seasonally…? Worth researching before committing.

Amazing place!
The Sagewind farm was beautiful. It was close to home, yet felt so far away. My kids and I loved the trail and rock cave hammocks. Ellen was awesome! She was so welcoming and kind. Her dogs were great, too. We would definitely like to camp here again.

Sage Winds farm Cozy trailer
Camping, Beautiful Views & Tie-Dye!
Ellen’s property provided a one-of-a-kind experience. Nestled on an Organic White Sage farm, the trailer allows you to enjoy what the land has to offer while still maintaining privacy. Ellen met us upon check-in to show us the trailer, give us the keys, & explain the land. We had a wonderful time walking the trails on the property & decided against going elsewhere to hike because of the number of options at Sage Winds. There is a handful of extremely friendly pups that roam the property & we stopped to say hi to the miniature horses, both of which added that much more to our stay. Ellen is a tie-dye artist & we were thrilled to explore her shop & purchase both clothing items & white sage that was grown onsite. I highly recommend checking out the trailer at Sage Winds! Something to note: this might be common knowledge to those experienced with campers/trailers, but there was a limited amount of hot water despite there being a hot water heater. It came as a surprise on our first night but was not an issue for the remainder of the trip!

Car camped with my doggo
I was planning on using a camper van with my Dog, Jeter on this trip. We ended up going in an SUV and slept in it. The grounds were truly unbelievable! The entire time I was there, it just looked like I wasn’t on earth.

Magical camping in the dessert!
Ellen's 40 acres of high desert are stunningly beautiful. Incredible rock formations, caves, flowers and cacti, and endless opportunities for hiking and photography. This was, by far, the best camping experience our dog has ever had! Toby got to be off leash for the entire time we were there, exploring and playing with Ellen's friendly dogs. We were celebrating the one-year anniversary of my husband's open-heart surgery, and the beauty and solitude of Sagewinds Farm was a perfect place to celebrate life. We definitely plan to return.

Sagewinds Farm High Desert Camp
We loved this trip! Ellen’s property is easy to find and Ellen showed us around immediately on arrival. The camping area we used was huge with plenty of flat spaces for tents. We had a group of 5 families and had plenty of space. The area for sitting is also open and big, with plenty of room for chairs and cooking tables and there is also a picnic table onsight. We had 5 toddlers with us as well as a couple with no kids, and there were hiking activities that satisfied both families with littles and the adventurous adults. It was also a generally low stress area to let our kids play, and the water pump was a god send. Also, the mini ponies are great and the night sky is fantastic. Only regret is we forgot our telescope! We want to go back again for sure! One tip: bring a shade awning of some sort :)
