Situated 400 feet above the beautiful town of Calistoga, looking across the valley floor to the Palisades and Mount Saint Helena, Calistoga dreaming is a great spot for enjoying the wine country. Our property is just 3/4 of a mile from downtown Calistoga. Our campground was built for enjoying our RV on our own property. Now you can enjoy it as well with your RV.Camping amongst the Oaks and Firs, The camp when not in use by Hipcampers is the home of our RV. And now it can be home of your RV during your stay at Calistoga Dreaming. The Camp is located off our long driveway About halfway in between the entrance gate and our house. It’s quite private as our house is around 150 yards away through the forest. The nearest public road is about a third of a mile away. There’s a beautiful outdoor shower with unlimited hot and cold water. The RV parking area has both water and a 30 amp electrical hook up (there's also several std 20amp outlets throughput the campsite). There is a picnic table, a utility table and a propane fired griddle for your use. If you have a small motor home and you’re local to the Bay Area and want to use our camp as your base for exploring the wine country, feel free to come with your RV and a second vehicle. There is plenty of space. That way you can set up your RV at the camp and then do day trips with 2nd vehicle. While the camp site itself is flat, our property is on hillside, you need to be fairly skilled and careful maneuvering into and out of the camp site with your RV.

Camping amongst the Oaks and Firs, The camp when not in use by Hipcampers is the home of our RV. And now it can be home of your RV during your stay at Calistoga Dreaming. This is one of those sites that you don’t want to promote as we can’t wait to return again and don’t want competition for dates! Lol Peter has set this campsite up so well, with such nice, quality amenities. The area and property is beautiful and private, and the access to Calistoga and other Napa Valley attractions can’t be beat. The skillet was great, even though we didn’t use it and the 30 amp power, city water hookup and outdoor lighting were all so well done with quality components that topped most RV parks we’ve visited. The nicest touch was the outdoor shower and ready-hot water heater! Typically with a 2 night stay we have to forego a shower here and there or drive around to find a dump station to empty our grey tank mid-stay. That wasn’t an issue at all this visit as we only had dish and sink water flowing to our grey tank. The shower has a rain-style shower head and an optional spray wand, and beautiful hot, Calistoga water to enjoy beneath the trees! Finally, Peter greeted us at the gate when we arrived and made us feel right at home. We really hope to visit again soon!

Gorgeous but openNapa Valley Forest

Peter's hipcamp had the best views of the most gorgeous large native forest on the edge of vineyards--making for a really memorable Napa valley experience. Our 2-hour walk up the canyon road was just as spectacular and made us feel we had lived there with the locals a while. We'll be coming back here a lot. He has plans to make further improvements, which is icing on the proverbial cake.

We had such a wonderful stay on Peter’s land in Calistoga. He was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived, making the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. The outdoor kitchen was a great touch — we cooked a full meal there and it had everything we needed. The outdoor shower was a real highlight too, with hot water that made it feel like a proper treat after a day of exploring wine country. Such a peaceful, well-thought-out spot. We’d happily stay again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, comfortable , and private place to park an RV in Calistoga.

Peter’s camp was amazing! We loved the private and peaceful location. The piping hot outdoor shower was really lovely. Water and electricity hook ups made it easy and convenient. Just a mile from downtown Calistoga. We will definitely request to book again.

Great location, private amd quiet. Loved the outdoor shower. The host was super friendly and explained the camp layout and turned on the lights for us. Only downside for me were the mosquitos.

Amazing location

This place was great! Sprinter van, 12’. Perfect full hook up accommodations. Peter was fantastic, available although was respectful of privacy request. Free wood onsite (weather permitting). The site is literally 1 mile from downtown Calistoga. The shower absolutely rocks! GREAT PRESSURE. We will be returning. What a treasure!

A great stay at Peter’s camp. We loved the well designed amenities, the view and my wife couldn’t get enough of the outdoor shower! Peter’s site design is not only creative but highly functional! Great spot under shaded oaks and pine. View of Calistoga in the distance. Amazing outdoor shower! A bit narrow and tucked on a hillside, but layout is fine. Peter was an awesome host - kind and responsive. Would return in a heartbeat - base camp to endless destinations.

A Gem We Almost Kept to Ourselves

This place is truly special. We almost hesitated to leave a glowing review because part of us wanted to keep it a well-guarded secret (future availability anxiety is real 😉)… but if you have the opportunity to stay here, you absolutely should. Peter is a wonderful host. Genuinely warm, welcoming, and clearly loves meeting people and sharing his beautiful property. From the moment we arrived, it felt less like checking in somewhere and more like being thoughtfully welcomed. His care for the land and the experience really comes through. The setting is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and designed in a way that lets you fully relax and settle in. Everything felt intentional without being fussy, private yet inviting. We loved our stay and left already talking about when we could come back. A true gem and one we’re very grateful we got to enjoy.

The Camp Over Napa Valley
Stayed there with our 23' Airstream for a quick weekend trip. Site is great with power and water and it's perched on a hill over Calistoga - about a 5 minute drive to town. Peter came out and gave us a quick tour of the site and a heads up on some of the local things going on in town for the weekend which were both appreciated. If it's your first trip and you are towing, there are parts of the road where you might say, "I hope those goes to the right spot," or "I really hope I fit..." - but all was good for my sized rig. You need to back in, but there is a loop on the site to get you turned back around for leaving. We are definitely keeping it the list of places to stay when we want to spend the weekend in Napa.

Perfect location for wine tasting. Beautiful location with lots of privacy and solitude. Peter was exceptional in his communication. PG&E were doing some road work and he offered to travel on his quad ahead of us to make sure the road was clear. We want to return!

This is a great camp spot above Calistoga. We love the location and the attention to detail that Peter has put into this welcoming site, including electric and water, lights, table and even an outdoor shower. You can tell he put a lot of love and care into wanting people to love the site as much as he does. Peter met us when we arrived, made sure we could back into the site, gave us a tour and How-to of everything. This is a special place. It gave us space for us to be able to unwind and be part of nature. We will be back!

What a sweet little spot! We loved staying here. Peter has done a wonderful job with this site. It’s a perfect location, tucked away in the trees, and just a few minutes to downtown Calistoga. There’s a picnic table, a Blackstone grill, hot and cold water, and an awesome outdoor shower (our favorite part)! Peter was an excellent host!

Campsites in Napa Valley are few and far between, so we were thrilled to find The Camp Over Napa. Only a short drive from Calistoga, but the campsite is very secluded and private. Perfect for our small travel trailer, but be prepared for sections of the road that are one-lane wide. Really appreciated the design and workmanship of the amenities (including outdoor shower with hot water!) that Peter has added to the site. Expect to be a repeat customer here.

Spectacular Site

We loved camping on Peter’s land. With only one site on the property, it was very private. Jody (his wife) welcomed us shortly after we got there and showed us all of the power switches for the outdoor lights and how to use the shower. We loved the Mountain View’s by day and the lights of Calistoga by night. With Bothe state park so close, we drove into town for a hearty breakfast at Serafornia’s and then headed off to Bothe just a few miles south of town. We came back and took hot showers in Peter’s cleverly made outdoor stall, then settled in for a lovely evening by the chimenea and string lights. The only thing that would have made this better would have been wider roads and an easier way to back in. It was a little tricky for us but once there it was more than worth it. Absolutely beautiful and Peter’s touches show a true appreciation for the land and for camping.
