Nestled on the south slope of a hill, our property boasts breathtaking views of Woodlands County. We're fortunate to offer 40 acres of working farmland and 80 acres of forest for you to explore. The forest is crisscrossed by several creeks, with underground springs occasionally bubbling to the surface. You'll have plenty of opportunities to forage for wild raspberries, bunchberries, and other nature's delicacies. Keep your eyes and ears open to catch glimpses of the area's diverse wildlife, including deer, grouse, owls, moose, and more. Surrounding the property are working farms, adding to the authentic rural ambiance. You might hear cows grazing in the morning and evening, or farm dogs barking from a distance, but we believe that's part of the charm of the area. One of the best things about our property is that there is no cell reception, allowing you to fully disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life and appreciate the tranquillity of rural Alberta.

Woodlands Wagon #1

100%
(2)
Shepherd's hut · Sleeps 3
Experience a unique off-grid pioneer wagon getaway on the stunning Alberta prairies. Our self-catering wagon offers sleeping space larger than a King sized bed and heat from a woodstove. Cooking options include the woodstove top, firepit or camp stove. Although there is no plumbing in the wagon, an outhouse with a hand sanitizer and wash station is located nearby. We provide everything you need for a comfortable stay, including bedding, dishes, cooking utensils, flashlight/lantern, firepit with grate, axe, matches/lighter, fire starter/paper, roasting sticks, and lawn chairs. A large jug of potable water is also provided. Your lodging is an authentic, handmade wagon that was used by ranchers in the St. Paul region of Alberta. As you walk to the wagon, you'll pass farmer fields, cross a natural creek, and enter a hidden gem of an untouched prairie field. Explore 80 acres of forest to the north of the wagon, with endless deer trails and Alberta native wildlife. Listen to the sounds of multiple running creeks, tall aspens, and serene forest all around you. In the evenings, enjoy the sounds of rural Alberta with calls of cows out to pasture, coyotes howling, and an occasional farm dog protecting their yard. At night, the world will seem to stand completely still and silent, providing an opportunity to stargaze for hours. There is no TV, Wi-Fi, cell service, or shower, but we hope you will embrace the simplicity and appreciate the unique Alberta heritage experience. We also have friendly dogs on the property. If you'd like to venture out, the town of Mayerthorpe is only 20 minutes away and Whitecourt is 30 minutes away, offering all necessary amenities. We recommend exploring the Fallen Four Memorial in Mayerthorpe, playing a quick round of golf at the Mayerthorpe golf course, exploring the Blue Ridge Recreation area, venturing through Hard Luck Canyon, and fishing at Carson Pegasus Provincial Park.
