Collinswood Retreat

Gives a vive that you are actually in a jungle inside of a tree house. There is a bus turned into a cabin, which will remind you of the movie “into the wild”. Great experience overall.

Staying in Poppy was a very pleasant experience! We arrived late, in the dark. We were struggling to find our spot (albeit, I did not look at the instructions carefully). Pat came to find us at the entrance, and helped escort us to our stay. They also provided some extra water (due to the water line being shut off because of cold temps) a heater and some heating bottles to keep us warm. The location is very beautiful, with some cool amenities available throughout the grounds. All in all, Geri & Pat are very welcoming, thoughtful and we would love to rent out the whole grounds in the future! Thanks again!

We really enjoyed camping here for our friends 30th! The bus was really awesome and a great theme for a little weekend getaway. The property is fun to explore with many nice little trails to walk down, and the view of the stars at night was fantastic on a clear night. Thanks Pat & Geri for a great weekend!

Amazing experience

Loved poppy bus, had a great experience living in here as it is my dream to eventually do this. Enjoyed how there was so many hiking trails everywhere. We spent an hour or more looking and exploring. The whole place here is so much to take in. I especially loved interacting with the friendly horses. I plan to bring my extended family next spring.

Magical and Fantastic place to connect to nature, while still having the comforts of home. Geri and Pat are gracious and kind hosts, and the land is full of life and beauty! Highly recommend treating yourself to a stay in one of their several sites. We will definitely be back! 😍🥰💙

Shady Nook-Site 1

This was my second time camping here and I think it’s officially my favourite campground. :) Geri and Pat are so welcoming, plus the sites are private with beautiful surroundings. This morning I saw the horses coming through the property too which was a huge bonus! With the Bowden Sunmaze close by, not to mention that this site comes with a bundle of firewood and water, I can’t recommend this place enough. With winter coming soon I hope to plan a weekend in the treehouse or other buildings soon!

Our hosts were very accommodating! We stayed at Woodbend for the night. It came with a bundle of wood, campfire pit, hammock and an abundance of property to explore! There is so much to see while walking around from the horses to the unique cottage/sleeping accommodations! I would recommend their place to anyone who is looking for a beautiful place to unwind while travelling! Thank you again for everything 💖

Pure magic!

This is, I believe, my fourth stay! It's a magical place that I look forward to visit every year. The Happy Hut and Treehouse are so cozy, every little detail is thought of and you are looked after so well! The trails are amazing for long walks, the views spectacular, loved meeting the horses again this year. And Geri's massages are a must! See you again in 2026!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Shady Nook site in our tent. The outdoor shower felt great, lots of hot water, and the outhouse was clean and definitely one of a kind! Both were close and easy to walk to from our site. Greeted by the owner on our arrival and also had our firewood delivered and she let us borrow her hammock. Which the kids loved! The trails were well maintained and allowed us to check out the other unique sites on the property and pick raspberries along the way. The Treehouse and Poppy bus were my favourites and the view from the yoga deck was amazing. My kids loved visiting the horses and of course can’t forget our visit every morning from Piper! Geri and Pat are wonderful hosts and we will definitely be planning another trip there!

Charming stay!

Rosebud Cafe

The Rosebud Cafe was a charming and cozy stay at the Collinswood retreat, with a gorgeous view and unique experiences. The yoga deck, outdoor bathtub and shower, wood-burning sauna, and horses roaming free on the property, were the icing on an already lovely stay out amongst nature in a cute, tinyhome-style cabin full of little details to discover. The hosts were lovely folks with a sweet rescue dog that would come make the rounds from time to time.

My family of 5 stayed at the Shady Nook for 2 nights. Our campsite is huge, more than plenty of space for my younger kid do play in , very peivate. Lots of space to walk around the place. We played basketball, volleball and frisby. We saw horses in the area. The washroom was cool. My 5 year old always had fun while in there. He would wear the crown everytime we use the bathroom. My daughter and I enjoyed the sauna and the hot shower with a view. My daughter told me before we left that she is going book on a weekend in October as a birthday gift for herself. She wants to do the sauna again and the massage. We noticed that there were only a few mosquitos and we weren't slapping ourselves trying to kill them unlike other campgrounds we went to and we've been to many. Also, the hosts are friendly, approachable and easy to contact. I would recommend this place 100%.

HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!

Absolutley amazing. Lovely little place to escape life. We stayed in the treehouse and also used the sauna which is a real finish sauna, gets very hot. Highly reccomend trying out. The outdoor shower does get very warm-hot water but the grate on the fence is a bit low so bring towels to cover if you need extra privacy. The toilet by the treehouse is an outhouse so I reccommend walking the short distance to the composting toilet, especially for using #2. Didnt have the time to use the bath but it looked absolutely lovely. We did walk the red lantern trail, but beware its easier to get lost in the trails as the markings stop after a little while so take a photo of the map. The treehouse itsself has a very comfy bed. It is quite small inside so dont pack alot. second bed is a folding futon, all bedding is provided. They also have your first bundle of wood free, and there is a jug of drinking water and a jug for cleaning water (non potable), also lots of dishes, and cooking ware, an ax, kettle stove, small BBQ, and fire pit, they have some seasonings and oil if you forget yours. There is a Cheap COOP store 10 minutes away as well, and cheap wood in the area too (also you can get wood from the hipcamp extras tab). There are horses on the property who wander freely so you need to be diligent about closing all gates. They also have garbage bins that are bear safe but you do need to secure your food in your car. There are also some frisbee golf and board games to play. Will be back!!

Very rustic, but great potential

Hosts were delightful! The place was a gem, but quite rustic. We rented the poppy bus which was cute, but had lots of ants. As well the outside of the bus could have been spruced up or repainted (it looked dead on the outside, though cute on the inside). The ground was unlevel by the fire, and one of us almost tilted and fell into the fire pit. The area looks very unkempt ground wise, I would hope they would cut off the growing baby trees on the 'volleyball field', and make the ground more level and fill the pot holes with gravel so its not so incredibly mucky when it rains even a bit. The area just looks like minimum effort was put into maintaining it. The outhouses which were decent on the inside, could have been cutely painted on the outside with gloss paint, just to make it look nicer. Otherwise, you felt u were in a provincial park campsite or worse.

Reconnecting with nature.

My daughter loved the trails and waking up to horses roaming around. There were more "comforts of home" than we expected and that was great. The yoga deck was an amazing place to reconnect with nature and self. Geri and Pat were wonderful at communicating with us and it was an overall wonderful experience.

It was a nice experience, personal but also not an alone feeling. Other campers stayed and had gone during my 4 day stay there, and it was hardly noticeable. I brought my teens, partner and my mom, tent camping. A dog on property, some horses we got to see, nice trials to get "lost" in. Very friendly, tidy place to go to. With things to experience.

Collingswood Treehouse

We had a great time at the treehouse. It was very cozy, and the bed was very comfortable. The views from the yoga deck and the hike around the property were beautiful! Pat and Geri were also very warm hosts and provided us with everything we needed. Watching the horses roam around the property was also a nice surprise.

This is the most amazing place. Probably my favorite hip camp site I’ve been to yet! We stayed in the treehouse and it was such a cool unique spot. We did a sauna and the outdoor bath tub both incredible! And we lucked out and got to see the horses :).

Quiet and secluded

The stay at the yurt was amazing! Nice, quiet and secluded. The only neighbours we had were the horses. The walking trails around the property were nice and the yurt and rest of the camping area were perfect for our stay.

We stayed in the yurt the first 2 nights and the treehouse for the last night. We are already trying to book again! If you value seclusion & are more comfortable in the woods and with the critters, the yurt is great! If you appreciate hard walls closer to the safety of other people (but still more secluded than most campsites) the treehouse is more that. If you want to unwind in nature but do not want a crowded campsite, or having to pack shelter & bedding (maybe mattress topper for comfort for older folks that may prefer), this is that & more. Hosts were kind, laid back, & went over and above (my son left a recently passed family members watch somewhere hard to find and they went out of there way to find and return it). If you want simplified camping, I highly recommend! The views & trails are stunning. The trails & their signs/decorations, the yoga deck & outdoor tub/shower, meditation area had a breath taking view. We loved inspected every plant, fungi, & furry critter. The friendly horses gave a majestic vibe, and there were. squirrels, bat, birds, butterflies. And so much more). Definitely a hidden gem, and I am wishing it so much success (but also scared how busy it could get once more people learn about it). Thanks Pat & Geri for sharing your space!
