We are close to cycling routes and about 5 minutes from the village of Hilton Beach and 10 minutes from Richards Landing. We are located about 7 minutes from the bridge onto St Joseph Island.

We had a great time at the cabin. Gord and Penny we're very welcoming and helpful. The dogs loved dock diving and swimming in the lake. Unfortunately, we were hit with rain at nights along with a fire ban for the duration of our stay but we still loved our time here. It was great to unwind and disconnect.

This place is amazing! The two tents are spacious, beautifully set up, and incredibly well-equipped. Directions were clear, parking was easy, and the host was super helpful throughout.
The sleeping tent had a gorgeous bed with clean, comfy sheets, and the second tent had everything I needed — a kettle, cooktop, dining table, clean water, and more. I spent the day at a nearby beach and then relaxed by the firepit in the evening, surrounded by stunning birch trees.
I can’t recommend this place enough — a perfect mix of comfort and nature!

Penny is probably the best host I’ve ever encountered.
She was beyond welcoming. She invited my daughters and I to a tour of her private flower & vegetable gardens at her private residence just 5 minutes away from the camp.
She was more than accommodating and even was going to have her husband help us down to the camp with our stuff as the driveway at the top of the camp is too steep for my front wheel drive to get back up so we parked just off to the side where there was a clearing. We assured her we could handle our stuff down to the camp though.
All the firewood was supplied.
There is a nice pit with a swivel grill to cook right over the fire as there’s no hydro to the camp (that’s what makes it so special). We brought a bag of charcoal to make cooking in the pit easier as we’re veteran campers now lol.
I do suggest you bring your own life jackets if you plan to use the canoe that is also supplied.
If you’re bringing children & they aren’t picky about Rocky, mucky, full of beautiful lily pads (where you’ll get the joy of hearing all the frogs at night), with lots of little minnows/perch then they will likely be the only ones swimming right at the camp, otherwise there is a beautiful rock you can canoe over to around the corner to the right that you can jump off and it’s nice and clear water for the adults and teens!
Bring your flashlights, spare batteries & back up batteries as that’s all you’re living off.

This was a very lovely stay! Dawn and David are a very kind couple and accommodating hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed and more, and were very genuine. We had some wonderful chats with them and learned a lot about the area. The cabin had everything we needed to cook some great vacation meals and a beautiful porch to enjoy them on, and way very cozy for our off the grid get away trip. There was some usual wear and tear on the cabin, as it is older, but Dawn and David were very quick to respond and did their best to fix any problem we encountered. We explored the Fort and Island Museum nearby, biked down to the nearby boat dock; and kayaked in the nearby bay. It was a lovely little mosquito-less area, which was a nice change after our camping the previous days. We would love to return anytime.

Weekend Trip to Rosewood Forest
Matt and Caycee not only provided an incredible, sacred place to get away to, but put so much thought into what they have been establishing. They recommended and showed us around some magnificent places. We went canoeing on Lake Superior, and bathed in the waterfall. This was the adventurous, restful, fun and playful experience we were needing. The atmosphere was everything, the peace, tranquility, I felt like royalty yet amongst simplicity, connected to nature and shut off from the world. The scenery is majestic, and the little details in everything they set up for us brought a joy and warmth to my heart. Forever grateful, and we will be back! xo

2 nights at Summerhill Farm
We were very happy to return this spring to Dawn and David’s cabin on their farm on St Joseph Island. Our hosts were so very kind and hospitable, as before, and ensured we had absolutely everything we could need, from warm blankets and firewood to maple syrup they’d harvested themselves and kitchen essentials. It was great to visit the Island early in the northern springtime: we were lucky enough to catch International Migration Day (a major birdwatching event for which Fort St Joseph opened early), and we had a couple of brilliant evenings paddling our canoe in Gawas Bay too. We were lucky enough to see otters as well as beavers and muskrats, deer and a fox near the cabin, and a troop of fluffy baby foxes nearby too! We had a lovely time, and we’re already looking forward to returning to this cozy, comfortable, relaxing cabin. Thank you Dawn and David! : )
