Danaview is larger and has the main living space, Kneehill has extra sleeping space and some overflow living space. Don't worry about packing sheets or towels, linens are included. Outdoors features a propane BBQ close to the house and fire pit in the backyard. Relax on the back deck with a beverage listening to the breeze in the trees and watching birds at the feeder. Just off Palmerston Lake, there is a boat launch space just a five minute walk down the road. Two public beaches on the lake are great for swimming. There's lots to do nearby - hiking, swimming, boating, ATV trails, art studios, and much more. This is not only a rental property, it is a place to gather with my own family and friends. You may find personal mementos spread around and some artwork from young family members adorning the walls. Make yourself at home, feel free to use a board game, borrow a book to read during your visit, and use any spices or other kitchen ingredients you find in the cabinets. The cabin is beautifully built and well-equipped. Mike's communication is excellent, he went out of his way to accommodate us, and he is a pleasure to chat to. The hiking trails are well-marked and the walk to the lake is beautiful, even in the late fall with barely any leaves left on the trees. We spent a peaceful and restorative two nights, and look forward to doing so again.

We had an absolutely lovely, relaxing time at Mike's cabin this weekend. The cabin is the perfect blend of rustic and cozy, with many thoughtful little amenities that made us feel at home right away and eliminated the stress of packing compared to traditional tent camping. We were lucky enough to book with fall colours in full force and were treated to stunning sunset views both nights. With enough hiking trails and wilderness to explore to your heart's content, there was plenty of opportunity to mix in some adventure. We are eagerly looking forward to coming back soon and experiencing what winter at the cabin has to offer!

Choleena and Larry were the perfect hosts- super helpful, non-intrusive and even told us we could check out at anytime on our last day. The cabin was also great, very clean and well taken care of. The cabin was perfectly located with gorgeous views of Silver Lake. Site was very private and well maintained. Cabin was so cute and cozy offering all the comforts for a perfect glamping experience. Gazebo offered a dry spot to enjoy meals outdoors and the firepit was our gathering spot each night. Short walk brought us to the private beach site. Absolutely loved and would recommend 100%. My partner and I are so refreshed after our stay at the wicked awesome Cliffside Cabin. The place was breathtaking and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Secluded in the treetops with nature, a super comfy bed, warm breezy quarters, hammocks, solitude, badminton, and all the little thoughtful things you could need for a comfortable, stress-free stay - it was a dream. It's the thoughtful details and great intro to the cabin that put us at ease. Mike was patient, showed us how to use the stoves, gave great instructions so we easily found our way. An awesome place and awesome host! We loved it here & will be back :)

The host was awesome — gave us a tour of the property and shared some of its history, which was a nice touch. The place is cozy, private, and well set up. There's a BBQ and a large custom smoker, perfect for outdoor cooking. Although it's off-grid, the host has solar batteries and a generator, so power was never an issue. We really loved our stay and would definitely come back!

Such an impressive homestead that Jennie and family have created. Beautiful, quiet farmland with so many ammenities to choose from. I was traveling through on a road trip so it was amazing to find a place outside of the city to stay that was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. I enjoyed the Leo cabin with my dog and Jennie and family were very welcoming and accommodating. They set me up after a long day of traveling with a great sauna and cold plunge with great touches like eucalyptus and camomile tea. I enjoyed a quiet fire afterwards which set me up for a great nights sleep. I would highly recommend a stay at Agape Gardens!"

We loved our mini getaway at Mike’s secluded little cabin! We had so much fun as a family, the spot was beautiful. It was well maintained but still felt like you were in the woods, which you truly are! The view from the cabin is so pretty, you can watch the sunset over the hills from the porch or the bed. All the amenities we needed were available and then some. Everything was clean and cozy. We felt very much at home. Mike is an excellent host and we would definitely book again! Bonus points that our dog got to have fun too!

Where to go

Algonquin Provincial Park

One of the oldest protected public parks in the world, Algonquin Provincial Park is home to more than 2,400 lakes, 750 miles of rivers and streams, 14 interpretive trails, and eight campgrounds. Whether car camping at one of the popular family-friendly RV sites or canoe camping in the backcountry, this is an exceptional destination for fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and birdwatching.

Bonnechere Caves

This unique geological feature is one of the best sights in the area. The caves were formed by the power of the Bonnechere River over thousands of years and now feature funky rock formations and mesmerizing underground waterfalls. Visits are by guided tour only from spring to autumn. Those visiting in early October might spot bats getting into position for early hibernation.

Bon Echo Provincial Park

Bon Echo Provincial Park offers one of the most unique attractions of any Ontario provincial park, home to Mazinaw Lake and its surrounding rugged cliffs, which feature ancient Indigenous pictographs. Campers can take boat tours to see them up close and then hike to the top of the cliffs for an incredible view of the lake. The park also has excellent swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and biking.

When to go

Most provincial parks and outdoor attractions near Renfrew operate on a seasonal basis, from mid-May to mid-October. Campers should note that evenings can be pretty cold in May and June, and again in September and October. The mosquitoes and blackflies of Algonquin Provincial Park are legendary in their ferocity in late spring and early summer. Renfrew’s annual Renfrew Fair in September brings live music, carnival rides, and livestock showcases to town, while early October is the best time to admire the autumn colors around Algonquin (which gets very busy with weekend daytrippers).
