Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.

The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Our 50 acre parcel would have comprised much of the maple bush for the original 400 acre farm property. The stone fence rows and laneways lined with large boulders are remnants from the days or horse drawn carriages, likely put in place hundreds of years ago. In addition to the maple bush there are several acres of cedar bush, open wild flower meadows, as well as fields dotted with larger shade-giving trees. A small half acre of the property is used to farm fresh cut flowers which you are welcome to visit. My children and I loved our stay at Rick's place. Tha cabin and airplane are in great shape and nestled in the middle of the woods. Rick was a good host and everything was as we expected. The wood stove in the cabin kept us warm in mid November, and the airplane was big enough for two kids with winter sleeping bags. It was a memorable trip. Thanks, Rick.

Weekend Trip to Heavens Acres

Lovely little cabin. Well-insulated, and has a wood stove. Doesn't take much fire to warm the place up. The main cabin has three single-bed cots plus a single bed mattress in the loft, but know there is very little headroom up there. Probably more suitable for a child. There's a table and four chairs. The plane has room for an adult or a couple of kids to set up sleeping bags. Very quiet. Didn't hear a thing aside from the wind in the trees. Just what I wanted for a Hallowe'en camping weekend. The outhouse is clean and as nice as an outhouse can be. Watch out for the dogs on the way in. They're friendly cuties, but don't seem car-smart, so drive extra slowly.

Weekend Trip to Heavens Acres

Firstly, Rick was the best host. Informative, responsive but left us to our own devices. My partner and I were looking for somewhere functional and secluded and this property hit all the marks. We stayed there with our 3 large dogs and were able to explore trails onsite that were easily accessible and intuitive. There's also a great clearing in the marsh where we were able to catch some shooting stars! The first night we stayed in the smaller cabin, which was a dreamy little slice of rustic bliss. Second night we stayed at the unique plane crash site - overall has more space and access to the plane worked as a perfect refuge to shelter from the elements, while conveniently placed steps away from the warmth of our campfire. Clearly both sites are treated with care, clean and filled No doubt, will be back.

3 nights at Chapelwood Chalet

Amazing experience. Me and my partner stayed for three days in early September and it was such a cozy and comfortable stay. Is clean private and perfect for people that love the outdoors. Indoor wood fire was a great way to stay warm and made for amazing ambiance. Jake made the experience super easy and I would go back in a heartbeat.

This was an exceptionally private and peaceful site. There is no view of other campers or houses and no road noise. Compared to the camping parking lot you get at most public parks this is a great deal!

Weekend Trip to Heavens Acres

We really enjoyed our trip. My kids had a great time adventuring around the forest, the property was clean. It was a great break from the big city. Just what we needed. No outside noise, pure isolation. Rick was great to deal with and we will be back. We plan to check out the airplane cabin next year. We popped up a tent and camped it one night just for fun. We felt super safe and comfortable. We can’t wait to try a winter trip! The sleeping arrangements was good, however It would have been a lot better if there was a railing on the bunk above the door and on the bunk bed. It would make it more accessible for families with young children. We ended up bringing an air mattress for the floor which worked great for us. Thank you for you for hosting us.
