2 nights at Macksville Acres

Spent Christmas Day and Boxing Day here with my dog. It was such a nice, peaceful spot! I can’t wait to go back when there’s not an ice storm happening. But absolutely no complaints about the spot!

Great little spot, small, cabin. Great for two people. There is a 2nd level Bunky but it might be a little tight to sleep in. Recommend for two people Max. Very rustic, yet well built cabin. Wood burning stove was easy to use. Note pit toilet ia open to elements. Quiet, location, sweet little forest. Lots of great birds to see including woodpeckers in the surrounding forest. Went in November for a micro sabbatical would be nice to go back in the summer. Host very attentive, and considerate. Highly recommend.

Second time at this adorable cabin. Very well stocked but also minimalistic. Great place to extend the camping season if you don't have a hot tent. As always really enjoyed the wood stove and the quiet and calm of the open field. Really melancholic sitting by the fire and watching the geese migration at sunset

Weekend Trip to Maitland River Campground

I’ve have come to Cardinals Nest twice and both times I have loved it. The cabin is beautiful and spacious, and hosts have all basic amenities you need in it. They also have started adding water jugs to the cabin which was super helpful. There is a nice stream for puppers to play in and a ton of room to roam/ hike. Cabins are spread out so you don’t feel cramped. Very highly suggest !

Beautiful and cozy space! Right near the lake, a walk down the road there, perfect place to swim and cool off on the summer days. Nice spot for campfires at night. Brought e-bikes and explored the back country roads but there’s nota of trails around as well to be discovered. Definitely recommend!

Weekend Trip to Macksville Acres

We had a great night at the cabin! We were longing for the camp fire in the evening, so we enjoyed the stars while roasting marshmallows. The cabin was very cozy with the wood stove. Scott had the place stocked with lots of dry wood for both the campfire and stove. We both slept well on the fold down futon. The mattress was very comfortable. We played cards, games and just unplugged from the world. The cabin was a short 1.5 hrs from home and was a great get away from the city for a night. We look forward to our next visit.

Stayed with my dog as a treat for his bday and it was so lovely. Loved the wood stove and the rustic feel of the cabin. We'll definitely be back as this is great for winter "camping" when it's too cold for a tent
