The 1.3 acre parcel across the street from the house and farm has a forested peninsula that the A-frame is located on. Our street ends in a small stream that continues to separate the farmstead from the A-frame site. Come stay in our tiny rustic A frame cabin built of mostly reclaimed materials. Enjoy being across the stream and over the bridge from the main house on a private peninsula. Enjoy the privacy of a "single site" camp! Use the fire pit, grill, outdoor wood stove, single burner butane stove or umm the bathroom :) without having to leave your site! Please be aware we are in town and you may hear road noise, lawn mowers, dogs, ect. You may also see and hear wildlife ex; deer, beavers, ducks, muskrats, rabbits, geese, foxes, and coyotes. We encourage native plants and work to provide a sanctuary for many threatened bird species. The cabin is 100sq. feet with sloping interior walls the flip up side wall is permanently open and screened in. There is no running water or electricity so unplug and unwind. A place to plug in and the water spigot a short stroll from your cabin in the driveway The cabin has a a full size mattress with sheets, blankets, throws and pillows. Lanterns, cooking utensils, camp mugs and camp coffee pot are provided. Please request the cast iron skillet and butane burner, it will not be in the cabin if you do not ask for it. You are also welcome to set up your own tent. Please note cleared space is limited and the tent should be a 1-3 person smaller tent. Outside on the deck are tiki torches, woodstove and bistro table. There is a hammock, picnic table, and 2 sets of outdoor chairs at your site. We do not have a swimming hole but the town beach is 5 minutes away and requires a day pass. If you forget something you are a short walk to Cumbies, and several farms, bakeries and a large grocer are a very short drive away. Venture farther (10 minutes) to one of the nearby hiking trails. We are within 15 minutes of the Blackstone Gorge, Southern New England Trunkline Trail, Cornier Woods, Franklin State Forest, Wojcik Farm, Cook's Valley Farm, the New England Bonsai Museum, Diamond Hill Vineyards, Caroline's Cannabis, Shire Conservation Area, New England Country Club, and many stables. The Commuter Rail to Boston, Wrentham Premium Outlets, and a Drive-in Theater are within 30 minutes. Use us as a base to explore Blackstone Valley, Boston and Worcester!! Wonderful peaceful little getaway. We were looking for something like a camping experience but didn't want to have to worry about the weather as much, as we were visiting from out of town. The bed is on the smaller side, but so were we, so that wasn't a problem. The house is quite far back in the yard, and at night it's very peaceful. It's also extremely well insulated, so if you are camping in spring/fall this will be quite a bit warmer than a tent. There isn't allot of room for luggage, but if you don't bring much it's not a problem. There is a small fold-out standing desk if you want to write or type. The bathroom facilities are the same as what you would expect at a campsite, primitive but functional, and much more private than communal campground bathrooms. The shower is currently solar-powered(works well so long as the sun is out!), but there are plans to get a propane heater in place for evening/morning showers. I also liked the central location to visit many attractions on Cape Cod, as most things such as the ferry to Martha's Vineyard or Nantuckett, or the outer cape are within reasonable driving distance. Finally the hosts were fantastic at checking in with us and making sure we had a great stay. Would highly recommend!

My girlfriend and I had a gorgeous weekend at the pond. The cabin was super cute and well stocked. The water was beautiful and we had so much fun swimming, kayaking and catching fish. Highly recommend :)

We had an excellent trip here at MacKenzies Camp site in Sterling, CT. They’ve thought of everything and were very helpful on every account. The beds were comfortable and plenty of bedding. The mustangs and donkeys were a fun site each day. They had games and things to do for the children. Judy came by and invited us to make Terrariums and help feed some of the elderly horses which were letting us pet them and hug on them. What an experience! We didn’t have perfect weather either but it was not a washout so we kept busy and had a great time. They were on top of everything. Would highly recommend

Weekend Trip to Getaway Ranch

I loved the whole treehouse vision. Everything was beautifully crafted and maintained. The outdoor shower and water in the treehouse itself was not hooked up but only a short walk to the main bathroom area. And there were plenty of clean water jugs provided. More signage and maybe more info about how to use the generators or simple directions about property and swimming areas would have been helpful but we managed fine. Karyssa was very responsive and helpful. It was very hot in the treehouse during our stay. There were solar fans but they didn't last the whole stay and there was no info on how to recharge them. 2 of the 3 generators were undercharged but the 3rd was fully charged. I did not see that one until the last day, so more info on that would have been helpful and a full charge. (ex. what is acceptable to use with it as to not drain the battery?) I used the toaster oven on one and it definitely drained the battery a lot. I was very grateful for the kitchen items like coffee, mugs, silverware etc. The view of the river was spectacular and being immersed in nature made this stay so worthwhile. I would stay again and recommend to anyone to watch the weather and plan to go when it is mild temp, not too hot. Overall grateful for this space crafted with intention. Thank you!

We absolutely loved our stay! This was such an amazing and unique experience and definitely one of the most memorable stops on our road trip. The kids and the hubs loved spending time with the horses, and it was so much fun getting to stay somewhere completely different from the usual hotel or campground. And I have to give a special shoutout to the bed because after four nights of sleeping on a tent floor, it may have been the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. 😂 The hosts were incredibly nice and welcoming, the whole experience was wonderful, and we'd absolutely stay again. If you're looking for a unique place to stay and love horses, this is definitely worth it!

We had a Hobbit themed party on this property and it was perfect. It’s beautiful, very on brand with The Shire. Very spacious, most of us slept in tents in the yard. When it rained everyone slept in the barn so it’s nice to have the option. Jocelyn is excellent, she came to say hello, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed with her dog Pepperoni. She also gave us a great recommendation for a swimming hole nearby! 10/10 Had a wonderful weekend, Would stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Glamping with the Wild Horses

I reserved the terrasphere and three glamping domes for my bridal shower. The hosts were there to greet us when we arrived and helped move our heavier party supplies and sleeping gear from the parking area to sleeping areas with the help of their off road vehicle. The hosts were great to speak with and work with. Some of my guests carried their gear the walk from the parking area to the terrasphere. The walk goes past the horses and is easy enough for flip flops, but also uneven enough with rocks that requires keeping an eye on where you're walking. Firewood was provided for the fire pits, propane provided in the grills, and we used their power bank, Bluetooth speaker, and projector in the terrasphere to watch a movie. I brought my own HDMI cord to connect the projector to my computer. There are a couple tables and metal chairs. We did yoga using the available mats, carpets, and blocks. We used the power bank to blow up several full size air mattresses for sleeping. The event was late July and the bugs and such were very manageable. My guests had so much fun, and most of them rarely camp, and some had never been camping before and said it was a great experience.
