Site 1 - The Sandbox Campground
Unique “Mystical” Spot!
So unique and a perfect location! It’s less than 10 minutes from both downtown Mystic and Olde Mystick. You’re not going to feel like you’re completely isolated out in the woods, (but that’s clear in the booking.) The campsites are super cute and easy to get to. They have nice fire pits and chairs with plenty of firewood. If you’re RV camping you’ll likely need to park in the parking lot, but you still have access to a fire pit. The host was super communicative and accommodating! My favorite part was a beautiful and unexpected hiking trail in the woods just off the property. We would love to come back and spend more time both here and exploring Mystic!

Site 2 - The Sandbox Campground
Brendan has done an amazing job with this property! The business area is beautiful and sits at the front of the property, which gives privacy to the camping areas in the back woods. I stayed in Site 2, which was up at the back of the property on the ridge. I couldn't have asked for a better primitive site! There is plenty of space for a decent sized tent (I only had a 2 person tent), chairs and a cooking table, plus space to enjoy the firepit. I plan to be in that area more often and will absolutely book this site again!

Great Camping
It’s pretty cool over at the sandbox. It’s not your typical campground however it feels really nice when you’re there. Brendan was always able to help out if we needed it.

Glamping at The Sandbox!
This site was super cute and great place to stay. Having a 6 year old with us, the use of actual bathrooms and shower was fantastic. Easy check in, fun set up & worked perfect. As others have said, be sure to bring bug spray though, you’ll need it!

Glamping at The Sandbox!
Great spot for a road trip stopover
My husband and I took a drive up the Conn coast and stayed for one night. I wouldn't call this glamp site a 'destination', as its not very secluded. Bed and tent were WONDERFUL, especially as we arrived pretty late in the evening and it would have been hard to pitch one ourselves. It was so nice to wake up to the birds and trees, while still being in a comfy bed. Lamps and fire starters were provided. Fire was cozy and the bathrooms are very nice and close. You will be staying behind a parking lot of an indoor beach volley ball court—parking lot lights are really bright and on all night. You're right off of a pretty busy road. You'll be tucked into the woods which is nice but, BRING BUG SPRAY.

Exactly What We Were Looking For
The site was perfect! Tucked away off a lovely little trail from the parking lot, it offers just enough seclusion to create the deep woods camping experience. Shower facilities are fantastic, and the hosts were phenomenal. Great resources to us, and have fantastic advice on where to launch our Kayak. Would definitely come back, thanks for a great weekend!

We were extremely disappointed in the proximity of the tent to the road. Right behind the tent was a big parking lot off of a busy road/highway. You could hear the traffic at night. The tent should have been further into the woods. We also didn’t see or find any stream/river as stated on the website. The tent set up itself however was very cute

10/10 would recommend!
We would give this a 10/10! Not only was Brendan totally accommodating but the digs were amazing. We had everything we needed, the tent was extremely clean, easy to find and a one of a kind experience. There is nothing like this in the area. Brendan made sure the fire pit was primed and ready for us as well as the wood heater in the tent. We couldn’t be happier with the experience we had and would recommend to any of our friends or family looking to camp, but with style!

Camping without the hassle!
Absolutely wonderful stay. 100% will be coming back. Just as described for those that want the camping feeling without the hassle of bringing all the gear. Tent stayed warm enough even in 40 degree weather all night! Brendan was a wonderful host, met us on site, showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed!

Site 3 - The Sandbox Campground
Quiet stay in the woods...
If you're looking for an authentic and primitive camping experience look no further. This area is very wooded with three small areas set aside for campers. This is not a conventional camp ground where there dozens of other campers around though (and I'm glad because that's not what we were looking for). The host met us upon our arrival and welcomed us to the property. He was very polite and nonchalant. Overall, our experience was awesome - we had a great time here.

Perfect Primitive Host!
If you're in Mass or RI and looking for a more primitive camping setup look no further. If what you're looking for walking into a forest and surviving a night or more with however much gear you want to take, or don't want to, this is a great place to try out.
We went here after a few rainy days and it rained during our stay so it made it more difficult but for what we were looking for it was perfect. Definitely somewhere to try. Brendan was very accommodating and made himself available for anything if need be.

I decided to take my 8-year-old daughter on a very last minute camping trip. We just had one night and I wanted to make it special. I came across The Sandbox Campground while searching the internet and decided to give it a try. I'm so happy I did! This was a unique and unforgettable experience! Not having to pack the tent and sleeping gear, and then having to set it all up upon arrival was such a time saver. We were able to settle in quickly and have time to explore the wooded area and play a few games before the sun went down. The bed was cozy and clean. Brendan and the staff were welcome and accommodating from the very beginning. I would absolutely recommend this campground! I have already started telling friends who are now highly interested in checking it out. Especially with the downtown Mystic area being so close. My daughter and I look forward to returning soon!

Lovely stay in the forest
Our stay was absolutely lovely! The tent was really nice, with a big comfy bed and beautiful forest view through the front door. We loved sitting around the smokeless firepit, which came stocked with wood and ready to go. Having access to a bathroom and hot shower onsite was really great because we were in town for a wedding. Brenden is a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. We would stay here again over a boring hotel any day!

Positively unconventional
The Sandbox is a positively unconventional and affordable way to visit a very expensive and often over-booked part of the country, especially during summer. Brendan was super-relaxed and accommodating of a same-day booking to get coastal relief during a heat wave and offered suggestions for things to do. Access to the very clean and spacious wash rooms/showers by the indoor sand volleyball courts was a bonus in the extreme heat. And Brendan even lent us a volleyball to use during our day travels exploring the coast. He shared plans to build the camping facilities out further, and we look forward to coming back, but we loved it just the way it is.

Had a great experience here. Brendan was an amazing host who was very helpful and welcoming. The camping was very secluded and private, and made us really feel we were off the grid which is what we were looking for. Can't wait to come here again soon!

Site 2 - The Sandbox Campground
The Sandbox was my first Hipcamp booking and ended up being quite the treat. Brendan was accommodating with scheduling and met us at our convenience. He gave a little tour, pointed out nearby hiking trails and gave us great recommendations for nearby activities. Since we had the site to ourselves, it felt like we were camping in our backyard.
