The Ship Wreck is a secluded getaway on Hennigar Lake 45 minutes from Halifax. Nestled in the trees on a large deck with the sounds of birds and squirrels all around, this unique structure spans 15 ft across with 14 triangular sides. It holds a double bed, dinning table, rocking chair, 3 burner stove, sink with water, full kitchenette and all the cooking utensils you need. The wood stove keeps the space very warm and cozy and we offer professional massage and reiki. You can walk, ski or bike for hours along a river. Or visit towering gypsum cliffs that host huge bat caves..
Our yurt is tucked away in the trees of our 20 acre wood lot. We provide lots of wood and fire starter for the wood stove but guests should have experience with wood stoves (or be really keen to learn). The stove is big enough to easily heat the whole yurt to cozy comfort but guests should expect to have to keep the stove going in order to keep the space warm and this may mean stoking it once in the night. We provide lots of extra blankets and two pairs of extra slippers for those who forget to bring their own. The solar panel creates enough power to run the lights, charge a cell phone and sometimes a computer but not much more.
The space is beautiful, unique and quite dreamy but it is rustic. There is a composting toilet next to the yurt (with hand sanitizer but no sink) and outdoor showers (with hot water) near our farm house. There is a three burner propane cook stove, cooking and dining wares and a small sink for dishes. There are all the utensils that you may need to cook for yourself but there is limited counter space so cooking elaborate meals is possible but could be cumbersome. There is a cooler and we can stock it with ice packs upon request. We supply coffee and a french press,.
We also offer massage and reiki to guests for $90 (60 min). Morghain Lee is a massage therapist and Reiki Master and enjoys blending these two body therapies for a holistic healing experience.
There is an outdoor fire pit and star gazing chairs. We ask that you only use natural soaps in the shower, the sink, pond or river. We have some Dr Bronners if you like:)
Cell reception on the land depends on the provider but most people have weak service (one or two bars). Enough to maintain a phone connection (if you are not walking around too much) but not enough to download videos. Some people have more or less.
We do allow pets but we ask for an extra $15 contribution to compensate for the extra cleaning. We also ask that dogs not be on the bed and that they don't chase our chickens or kittens.
There are outdoor showers available in spring, summer and fall when the pipes won't freeze. For those wanting to stay for longer periods in the winter we can discuss usage of the shower in our house.

The dome was beautiful! We had such a wonderful time. It was picturesque and peaceful. All amenities were as shown in the posting. It was clean and cosy. The sauna was a nice touch and easy to operate. Our hosts were on hand if we had any issues and their communication was brilliant. We loved our short stay and can't wait to go again!

My husband and I had a fantastic time at the chalet. Our first night in NV at Porter's land was a thrilling adventure in nature, with the delightful chorus of birds. I even had a refreshing dip in the lake, and we were up before sunrise to witness the stunning sight of the sun rising over the misty lake. It was an exhilarating experience in Porter's land, and we're already counting down the days until our next visit!

We had a wonderful stay st the Dome in the woods. It was such a beautiful and relaxing space. We were so excited that the space was dog friendly. The hosts thought of every detail including supplies to make our pupper comfortable! The location is fantastic with Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, and Halifax all driable within 20min-1hour.

Our stay at the Natura Wilderness was amazing. Private, cute, and very well-maintained. The propane stove, shower, and toilet all worked great! The location is close to a provincial park and gas station / coffee spot. Not far from Windsor. It was the perfect place for us.

Beautiful place and location! Had lots of nice amenities but consider bringing a few cozy lamps or string lights because the lights provided are not enough. Also note there is no electricity, which we did not realize. Get there while it’s still light out as it’s a bit confusing depending on which cabin you’re in.

We spent three nights in the Eager Beaver cabin. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed . The shower in the cabin was not hooked up yet, but the near by outdoor shower was a very unique experience which we enjoyed. We were surrounded by beautiful scenery and the sounds of nature. We Paddleboarded on the lake and my husband went for a refreshing swim, i was not as adventurous as him. My favorite thing about this place is the unobstructed view of the sky from the peak which was an amazing place to view the stars and look at the sky at night.
We had a relaxing stay and plan to return in the fall.

Beautiful spot. Really pretty mossy forest to admire at the front of the dome and a large green grassy area at the entrance perfect for kids and pets. And the dome itself had everything we could need and more. It was impeccably clean as well. Great bed and electric fireplace to stay warm too. Will definitely be back!

Amazing experience. Exceeded my expectations. The host added so many little details that made it extra cosy and comfortable. Love the solar lights thru the woods. The labels and instructions were appreciated. Highly, highly recommend. I think this may become a yearly retreat for me

2 nights at The Ship Wreck
We absolutely enjoyed our stay ! We stayed 2 nights but could have stayed a whole 2 weeks. It was so peaceful and full of unique art all around - so fun to explore! Bryan has many pleasant seating areas, hammock area and fire pits along the land that were really nice reading or relaxing nooks. (Again: wish I could have stayed longer ! ☺️) The Shipwreck cabin is equipped with many books and games for every age and interests - a real treat to go through. Even if night outside temps were a bit cold (-8 to -10 degrees), the unique rocket mass heater kept us comfortably warm. The outdoor kitchen was well equipped , pizza oven was SO MUCH fun!
We will certainly be back in the warmer months to enjoy the lake and outdoor shower. Great place for family getaways too - bringing the grandkids and dog next time.
