Quiet, getaway with the view of stars each night. Open fire pits and cosy log burner in the tent for the cooler nights. The beds were super comfortable with high grade thread sheets. It was a wonderful experience and we would do it again.

We stayed in Alder site #2 for 2 nights. The smaller the site number, the closer you are to the porta potty, water source, and petting farm (very cute animals!). All the sites are just on the same mulch road, a few meters apart.
The site was nice and scenery very peaceful, though it was a bit small we still managed 2 large tents and a shelter for the rain.
but it got quite loud at night as you could hear animals in the distance, and a lot of barking (neighboring areas, not on-premise dogs)
Overall we had a wonderful time and are grateful that spaces like this exist not too far from town.

1 night at Living Large on Chilliwack River
I loved glamping on Lisa and James’ land! They are wonderful hosts, and I felt very welcome and comfortable during my stay. The property is beautiful - right by the river with mountain views you can enjoy from your private deck.
The tent was amazing too! It’s set amongst the trees, which provide perfect shade on a hot, sunny day. I had everything I needed to cook, relax, and enjoy myself.

I couldn’t be more grateful for this incredible place. ✨ From the moment I arrived I felt at peace, the perfect blend of comfort, nature and thoughtful design. The tent is spacious, beautifully decorated and has everything you need to truly disconnect while still feeling at home.
The bed is so comfortable, the details with wood and natural elements make it unique, and waking up surrounded by this serene atmosphere is simply priceless. Every corner feels intentional and welcoming.
I will definitely come back many times. Thank you for creating such a special spot, a true hidden gem. 🌿

James and Lisa (and Zeus the dog!) were truly fantastic hosts, giving us a warm welcome into their beautiful and well-equipped campsite area. It was our 4-year-old's first camping experience, and I'd say she had a blast. Being so close to the Chilliwack River and having the chance to enjoy those stunning views is one of the things that make camping at Living Large so great. We would love to go back next summer and would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a wonderful family camping experience!

The place was nice and clean, the stay was very pleasant. However, the Fox Den was the only tent without an electric light (all the other tents did have a light). So, if you need light inside the tent book one of the other tents.

We stayed here over the weekend and overall had a lovely time. The place is very charming and cozy, with only four sites available. I highly recommend booking all of them if you’re going with a group of friends or family. The highlight for us was having full access to the farm and playground – our kids absolutely loved it. There is also potable water available, and each site comes with a food storage bin, which I thought was fantastic.
That said, for the price of a private campground, we were expecting a better bathroom. Unfortunately, the portable toilet hadn’t been cleaned for several days, which was disappointing. We usually expect that kind of facility only at public campgrounds with much lower fees. Another thing to note is that you cannot park directly at your site, which makes unloading a bit inconvenient.
Overall, we really enjoyed the experience because of the farm, the animals, and how much the kids had fun. Leanne was also very kind and always quick to answer my questions. However, given the price and the bathroom situation, I’m not sure we would return.

We had a wonderful stay. The river was beautiful and we loved swimming in it during the heat wave. James and Lisa are wonderful hosts. Loved all the extras at the site -- the outdoor shower stall, the dish cleaning area. They went the extra mile for their guests. They brought out a mister/hose for the kids to play with during a heat wave, loaned some other campers a tent when theirs malfunctioned, and even clean their portapotties daily. This was our first hipcamp experience and we would stay there again. When we were camped there, the high was 35 degrees in chilliwack and we loved how much cooler it was by the river. It got surprisingly chilly at night -- bring layers!

What a great spot :) overlooking the river, as advertised. The shower and the washing station was amazing to have! Loved the sound of the river flowing by at night! The host is very friendly and really has put his heart into this property. It is located on his property but honestly, far enough away from the house that you wouldn’t really know. The visits from the local dogs was great and they were friendly and well behaved. Next time we are hoping to try the glamping tents! Absolutely beautiful inside!

Absolutely loved staying at the Forest Sanctuary. It is a beautifully designed campground, and we really appreciated the kitchen and dining area. Solar lights throughout the property were magical. Christian was really kind and went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and lovely.

We were lucky enough to be able to book the bell tent one night and the cabin another. Both were amazing! The bell tent is HUGE !
The entire site is super clean and quiet and we felt very safe the whole time. Christian is an absolutely amazing host, he answers questions quickly and I never felt like I was bothering him.
The kitchen is fully stocked with a BBQ and a Coleman stove AND PROPANE !! Outhouse is clean and doesn’t smell bad at all, shower setup was very cool. There’s a shed to store your cooler on and it has solar lights for when it’s dark.
Lots of places to tent with your own gear as well. We cannot wait to come back at the end of October *fingers crossed*

We had a wonderful stay! 😊
Christian is such a gracious host, and the property itself is beautiful with excellent amenities. We especially enjoyed sitting around the fire pit—it was well set up with starter materials and stumps for seating.
The covered kitchen and common area were very convenient. We cooked dinner on the BBQ, washed our dishes, and refilled our water bottles easily. Our site was close to this area but tucked just around the corner, giving us both convenience and privacy. There was plenty of room for our two vehicles and two tents, with space to spare.
The composting toilet was nearby and thoughtfully set up—good airflow made it much more pleasant than a regular outhouse, and the handwashing station was a nice touch. While we didn’t use the solar showers, it was great to know they were available.
This was a last-minute trip for us, and we were so pleased to find such a lovely place. Thank you, Christian!

Staying at forest sanctuary has probably been one of the most memorable family trip we ever took.
Christian - no matter how much I can write about him, it would not be enough.
He has put in a lifetime of effort to make this space so beautiful. Ever since I made the booking, he was in contact with me and answered every single query and suggested so many great things to do.
We camped on a weekend when it rained the most in a 100 years ( 15th August 2025) but that did not dampen our trip at all.
Christian was out there, helping us put tarps and cover our canopy and ensured that we and our space remain absolutely dry. He went over and beyond every single day to come and help us out with anything we needed.
We stayed at the Bell tent which was stunning. It can easily accommodate up to 8 people.
We were 2 adults 1 youth and 2 kids and had all the space to walk around the tent even after placing all our bags and air mattresses.
The solar string lights all over the campsite are magical. The communal kitchen was clean and every single utensil, cooking equipment was available for use.
Christian gave us a tour of the campsite as soon as we reached and ensured we were comfortable and helped us settle quickly.
He set up the firepit at night, sat with us and other guests and we all enjoyed conversations and lots of smores.
My kids and us have fallen in love with the forest sanctuary and will surely be coming again soon.

The Living Large Camping area is beautiful and well kept. The owners are friendly and genuine. It is a very clean and well kept area. We will come back for sure! Note this is a walk-in camping space with parking close by.
