Nestled in the heart of the Tamihi Recreational Area, just 20 minutes from town, our property offers a rare blend of seclusion and adventure. Surrounded on three sides by lush, moss-draped forest and bordered on the fourth by the stunning Chilliwack River, it’s a true nature lover’s paradise. Enjoy a spacious riverside beach, great for swimming during the summer and fall & has world-class fishing. The area features Class I–IV rapids, ideal for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just minutes away. There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the covered picnic shelter. There is now a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for some protection because of the drop-off & undercut banks (not shown in the pictures). We have an endless network of trails and logging roads, perfect for ATVs (ride directly out of our gate), hiking, and biking. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline or tranquility, this property offers both. ATV's are idle in - idle out only. QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them. LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights. CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times! FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full & is available between 8 AM and 8 PM. BEEF and EGGS: We have grass-fed Black Angus beef for sale and we occasionally have eggs from our pastured chickens. Our free-range kind, gentle horses also wander the property. Any interactions with them are at your own risk! The gate must be kept closed because of them. If you prefer, we have 6 bare-bones fishermen's cabins. Glamp camping is open until the end of September. (we provide everything except your food, drinks and personal items!) Enjoy the beautiful acres right on the Chilliwack River! A wonderful family-friendly (including pets!) getaway with endless activities nearby. (no pets allowed for glamping) Our campsite is available in the spring and summer and is just 20 minutes from the city of Chilliwack, BC. We provide a fire pit and campfires are allowed as long as there is no fire ban. The sites are quite private but there will be other campers nearby. We try to keep a large amount of space between sites and some are separated by trees. We are a walk in tent only site- parking is very close, 30 second walk. We can also provide access to electricity so you can charge your phones or other devices if needed. There is no cell reception, but we do have wifi. Potable water is available. We supply natural spring water but you must bring your own jug. We live in an adventure playground! Activities nearby include hiking, white rapid river rafting, fishing, watching bald eagles, Cultus Lake water slides and adventure park, mountain biking, and more! We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning. Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway. We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas. There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

I loved glamping on Lisa and James’ land! They are wonderful hosts, and I felt very welcome and comfortable during my stay. The property is beautiful - right by the river with mountain views you can enjoy from your private deck. The tent was amazing too! It’s set amongst the trees, which provide perfect shade on a hot, sunny day. I had everything I needed to cook, relax, and enjoy myself.

The property is beautiful with an amazing forest and stunning lake. Brent was very helpful (never met Sherri). I definitely wouldn't have booked the site if I knew it was up a steep driveway with about 3 switchbacks. I was driving a fully loaded old camper van pulling a small motorcycle trailer (also loaded with motorcycle and totes) and it was hard on the van, also had to back up and jackknife the trailer on a couple of the switchbacks. One suggestion I have (and already mentioned to Brent) is if they mark clearly on their main bio of the land that their driveway is not recommended for any kind of bigger units. Also if its wet, 4x4 would be better. Luckily it was dry when we arrived. I read through their page and didn't notice the one smaller spot they mention about the driveway. Brent was very helpful and also offered to pull my trailer down the driveway the next morning for us and that felt very supportive so he definitely made up for it! Haha. Thank you so much Brent for your kindness.

Great private spot! The beach access was easy to get to! However it was very inconvenient that there was no outhouses to use and we had to bring our own toilets. Also was not given any direction to dispose of our waste when it was full, so had to haul it out. Lastly the outhouse was right outside our site and we kept getting wafts of outhouse smell… was not pleasant.

Weekend Trip to Living Large on Chilliwack River

James and Lisa (and Zeus the dog!) were truly fantastic hosts, giving us a warm welcome into their beautiful and well-equipped campsite area. It was our 4-year-old's first camping experience, and I'd say she had a blast. Being so close to the Chilliwack River and having the chance to enjoy those stunning views is one of the things that make camping at Living Large so great. We would love to go back next summer and would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a wonderful family camping experience!

Our site was good, right by the river verycalming. Beautiful sunsets. There is a nice swimmable beach. Go there day time if possible for set up as its dark in the dark. Host is strict about visitors but guess it's her property n can be. If u are responsible n respectful to your neighbors n her property you should not have issues.

Great little spot! Private and large. Little walk to the lake and there was a massive swim dock and hardly any people. Site 6 had no afternoon shade but site 5 looked like it had plenty. Trains and planes all day and all night. Outhouse was clean and close by. Enjoyed our weekend!! Thanks so much.

Where to go

North Shore

A string of bodies of water—Pitt Lake, Coquitlam Lake, and Indian Arm—await to the west, each tucked between the folds of ridges and ranges that continue on the other side of Burrard Inlet to North Vancouver. Here, the peaks of Mount Seymour, Grouse Mountain, and Cypress Mountain have recreational resorts that offer skiing and boarding in the winter and more hiking and mountain biking year-round.

East into Fraser Valley

Farther east into agricultural country along the Fraser River are more farms, including hazelnut orchards. Flanking this valley, southwestern BC’s mountains offer plenty of day and overnight hiking and camping. Continue eastward another half hour along the Trans-Canada Highway—or take longer, more scenic Highway 7 on the north side of the river—for water adventures at Harrison Lake and the village of Harrison Hot Springs, long said to be the roaming grounds of the legendary Sasquatch.

When to go

Most provincial park camping sites close in winter, but it’s possible to explore this area year-round. You’ll find mild-but-wet weather from November to February, while summer is the busy season, when locals and tourists take advantage of swimming and camping. In winter, go skiing in the mountains and watch storms on the coast.

Know before you go

Most provincial parks take site reservations in advance and online (recommended throughout the high season of summer) and give an early priority booking window to BC residents.

The Trans-Canada Highway, which runs through Maple Ridge and neighbouring municipalities and across the Second Narrows bridge over Burrard Inlet, gets very busy during weekday rush-hours and holiday weekends. Avoid these peak commuting times when possible.
Although the North Shore and Coast Mountains fall within Greater Vancouver city limits, the area is no urban walk in the park. Be prepared when venturing into the backcountry, even within park boundaries, with extra food, water, and emergency shelter supplies—especially in winter.
