Tucked beneath towering cedar and fir trees, Heron Grove is an exceptionally spacious and private RV campsite on beautiful Quadra Island. With room for two RVs plus additional tents, it’s a great choice for couples travelling together, families, or small groups looking for their own peaceful piece of the island rather than a traditional crowded campground.
The property sits beside a long-established Great Blue Heron rookery, and depending on the season you may hear or see herons returning overhead. Woodpeckers, ravens, chickadees and other coastal forest birds are regular visitors, while lush ferns, moss and mature trees surround the campsite.
There’s plenty of room to spread out, set up outdoor chairs, cook outside, let the kids play, or simply enjoy the forest. The site is well removed from road noise and offers a quiet, partially shaded setting that stays pleasantly cool during the summer.

Explore Quadra Island
Heron Grove makes a peaceful home base for exploring the beaches, lakes, hiking trails and small communities of Quadra Island.
A favourite nearby outing is Rebecca Spit Marine Provincial Park, with beautiful beaches, walking trails, sheltered water, picnic areas and views across Drew Harbour. It's a great spot for swimming, paddling, beachcombing or spending an afternoon by the water.
For a more wilderness-style adventure, head to Main Lake Provincial Park, where you can explore Quadra Island's freshwater lakes, forest and quieter interior.
We also have two canoes available to rent for your stay, so you can get out and explore some of Quadra Island's beautiful lakes and sheltered waterways. Paddles are included; guests will need to bring their own properly fitted PFDs/lifejackets.
Hikers can also explore the Morte Lake Trail, Kay Dubois Trail and the many other forest and shoreline trails around the island.
Food & Local Stops
You don't have to cook every meal at camp. Quadra Island has a great collection of small cafés, restaurants and seasonal food spots.
In Heriot Bay you'll find waterfront dining and casual options, while the Quathiaski Cove area has cafés, seafood, pizza and other local favourites. It's easy to spend the day exploring the island, stop somewhere for lunch or dinner, and return to your own quiet forest campsite in the evening.
A Different Kind of RV Site
Heron Grove is best suited to travellers who appreciate privacy, space and nature. Instead of parking beside a row of other RVs, you'll have a large forested site where your group can settle in together and enjoy the slower pace of island life.
Bring your RV, bring another family, pitch a few tents, rent a canoe and use Heron Grove as your private base for exploring Quadra Island and the Discovery Islands.

We have taken some time to improve our location and now offer 1 full serviced site and 1 tenting site.
Sayward has such a variety of outdoor gems to explore. Fishing, kayaking, hiking, exploring waterfalls, lakes and river oasis’s. You are truly immersed in nature no matter which direction you choose. Having your base here you come back at the end of your day still immersed in the beauty of the surrounding land.
We do have a ton of wildlife so please be aware of this. Elk are frequent visitors (and not fans of dogs). Cougar, wolves and bear have also been around these parts for centuries and still continue to visit. Please contain garbage to decrease chances of human/wildlife conflict.
