Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. We’ve hosted weddings, and family reunions. We hope you appreciate how special this place is. Come see for yourself!

Located in the Summer Village of Gull Lake, Alberta, this beautiful and unique spot has all the amenities you need. The property is a 3-minute walk to the water and beaches. Nearby, you'll find the famous Dutch “Wooden Shoe” store/restaurant/bakery, an amazing little store, and its famous ice cream shop you have to visit.
Pik & Pak Fresh Vegetables is a 30-second walk from the property and is open 24/7. They offer fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, microgreens, beets, apples, oranges, pears, potatoes, peppers, eggs, honey, gelato, pies, pizzas, chips, salsa, and much more. Great store! Local goodness!
There are 2 parks with tennis, paddleball, basketball, golf frisbee, badminton, horseshoes, gym, swings, and slides. Mini golf is across the road, and there are lots of walking trails and a burger and fries stand a 12-minute walk down the beach.
The Property
If you thought the village sounds amazing, check out the property! It is 1 acre and very private, with a 7-foot fence around 3/4 of the property and an open field at the back with horses. There are over 6 outdoor sitting areas, including decks, grass, a sandy beach, and beautiful flowers and trees. You'll enjoy the sight of squirrels, birds, wildlife, and the horses out back.

• 20’ Yurt: Fully equipped with 2 king-size mattresses, chairs, nightstands, water, and snacks.
• 420 Trailer: A fully powered 44’ 5th wheel trailer, fully stocked and converted into a 420 trailer with a blackout living room with tapestries, curtains, black light, and a stereo. The trailer has 1 bedroom, a couch, a day bed, a big full kitchen, and a bathroom with electricity and warm water. Note that there is no indoor toilet; the outdoor kitchen has hot water, and there is an outhouse out back.

Gives a vive that you are actually in a jungle inside of a tree house. There is a bus turned into a cabin, which will remind you of the movie “into the wild”. Great experience overall.

Staying in Poppy was a very pleasant experience! We arrived late, in the dark. We were struggling to find our spot (albeit, I did not look at the instructions carefully). Pat came to find us at the entrance, and helped escort us to our stay.
They also provided some extra water (due to the water line being shut off because of cold temps) a heater and some heating bottles to keep us warm. The location is very beautiful, with some cool amenities available throughout the grounds.
All in all, Geri & Pat are very welcoming, thoughtful and we would love to rent out the whole grounds in the future!

Weekend Trip to Collinswood Retreat
Loved poppy bus, had a great experience living in here as it is my dream to eventually do this. Enjoyed how there was so many hiking trails everywhere. We spent an hour or more looking and exploring. The whole place here is so much to take in. I especially loved interacting with the friendly horses. I plan to bring my extended family next spring.

We really enjoyed camping here for our friends 30th! The bus was really awesome and a great theme for a little weekend getaway. The Happy Hut and Treehouse are so cozy, every little detail is thought of and you are looked after so well! The Rosebud Cafe was a charming and cozy stay at the Collinswood retreat, with a gorgeous view and unique experiences. The yoga deck, outdoor bathtub and shower, wood-burning sauna, and horses roaming free on the property, were the icing on an already lovely stay out amongst nature in a cute, tinyhome-style cabin full of little details to discover. The hosts were lovely folks with a sweet rescue dog that would come make the rounds from time to time.

3 nights at Collinswood Retreat
Absolutley amazing. Lovely little place to escape life. We stayed in the treehouse and also used the sauna which is a real finish sauna, gets very hot. Highly reccomend trying out. The outdoor shower does get very warm-hot water but the grate on the fence is a bit low so bring towels to cover if you need extra privacy. The toilet by the treehouse is an outhouse so I reccommend walking the short distance to the composting toilet, especially for using #2. Didnt have the time to use the bath but it looked absolutely lovely. We did walk the red lantern trail, but beware its easier to get lost in the trails as the markings stop after a little while so take a photo of the map. The treehouse itsself has a very comfy bed. It is quite small inside so dont pack alot. second bed is a folding futon, all bedding is provided. They also have your first bundle of wood free, and there is a jug of drinking water and a jug for cleaning water (non potable), also lots of dishes, and cooking ware, an ax, kettle stove, small BBQ, and fire pit, they have some seasonings and oil if you forget yours. There is a Cheap COOP store 10 minutes away as well, and cheap wood in the area too (also you can get wood from the hipcamp extras tab). There are horses on the property who wander freely so you need to be diligent about closing all gates. They also have garbage bins that are bear safe but you do need to secure your food in your car. There are also some frisbee golf and board games to play. Will be back!!

My daughter loved the trails and waking up to horses roaming around. There were more "comforts of home" than we expected and that was great. The yoga deck was an amazing place to reconnect with nature and self.

The stay at the yurt was amazing! Nice, quiet and secluded. The only neighbours we had were the horses. The walking trails around the property were nice and the yurt and rest of the camping area were perfect for our stay.
