Before arrival at the site, the host reached out to us apologizing about the grass not being cut, and said we’d probably see him out there cutting it and to also introduce himself to us. We replied that it would be totally fine if him to cut it while we were there.
Upon arrival we quickly noticed that the grass was laid kind of flat in some places, but that a lot of places we could not enjoy due to the grass being so high, especially around the river. We didn’t reach back out as we expected him to show up to cut it like told us he would. He never did show up. We also found that there was dog droppings, trash, soda can tabs, and cigarette butts. We decided to leave 1 night early, we paid for 5 nights, but only stayed 4. Before leaving we reached out letting him know and politely asked if he’d be willing to do a 1 night refund due to these reasons as well as stating that it was calling for rain. We’re aware that rain does not constitute a refund, but the other reasons do.
He let us know that he would not do a refund, we understood. He did however become offended and defensive in regards to making him aware of what was left behind before we came, and us mentioning how he said he’d be over to mow and introduce himself, but he never did. He was rude and over the top with his replies. It was really unexpected and not handled properly. We did ask HipCamp to please review the conversation. They reviewed it and replied with an apology being very helpful and supportive.

This is an awesome place! But I was a little disappointed. I had hoped that the grass would have been cut around the camp site. It looked like it had been a couple weeks ago.
I did not see any trail that you could hike on and camp. What i saw was pretty steep and over grown.
It also had a thunder storm every evening i was there. So, I wand up leaving a little early.
But I did have a great time camping. I felt very safe even though I was solo camping. River was beautiful! Never saw the owner. Very peaceful.
I will definitely be back.

Great spot for some easy access primitive camping in a relatively remote location. While this site is just off of the road, it feels remote and we saw less than 10 cars probably go by over the course of a few days. There is also a neighbor located directly across the river, but their house is obscured by trees/bushes almost completly. You will hear some chickens/roosters, but for us it just added to the feeling of being in the country. Couldn't really ask for a better setup. You can put your tent right next to the river, the best spot is almost constantly in the shade, and there is plenty of space to set up a table or whatever you want to have while you are camping. River is mostly shallow except for a lovely pool right near where our tent was, perfect for taking a dip. Nearest conveinence store(s) is not too far and it's really close to the Coleman River Trail, which is a great little hike. You'll need to bring a camp toilet and kitty liter is your friend lol. We visited in early summer (June) and as you would imagine you'll need to protect from ticks, bugs, etc. It was still cool at night despite being in the 80's during the day, making sleeping comfortable. Overall, great spot and certainly much better than a crowded campground as long as you don't need any facilities. No special vehicle needed and very pet friendly. Chris is a good host and we never even saw him. Thanks.

Beautiful spot! Great fishing, huge level field, and a nice fire ring. Only drawback is a nearby rooster that becomes very active around 5AM.

Views were amazing also very quite out there only thing you hear is that river! Amazing spot definitely going back! You do get alittle service to be able to get a text here and there but nothing crazy perfect for a break from your phone!

Van camped by the river and had a wonderful time at a beautiful piece of ground in a wonderfully rural gap. Communication was great, and I truly enjoyed the land and the experience. Thank you.

Even with the house on the other side of the river, it is peaceful. The view is beautiful. The sound from the rushing water is so relaxing. It’s just a great place to camp if you’re wanting to step away from the everyday hustle and become one with nature. Chris is pretty awesome as well. Take care of his land and he will take care of you!

A great spot. The rooster will wake you up that the neighbors have, but that will be the least of your issues as you enjoy the river. The fire pit may need to be scooped out upon arrival
It’s fantastic to be able to camp in the hills/mountains and not fight camp grounds.

We've been staying at War Woman on Earls Ford Rd in Clayton for years. Because they changed things, we no longer wanted to be there. With a quick Google search on our way home from a not so good camp one week, we found Chris' place. And we are so thankful!! Yes.. there is a neighbor across the creek. They didn't bother us and we didn't bother them. We have chickens, so we're used to early wake up calls. We actually enjoyed it. Yes.. it is somewhat close to the road. VERY LITTLE traffic, I mean, you're in the middle of nowhere. It's perfect. We never met Chris or we would have personally thanked him for sharing his land, which HE DOES NOT have to do. We did a little exploring, which we also loved. My son, who is a photographer took some amazing pictures of camp, the water, trails, etc. We have found a new home away from home.
Also, no cell service. EXACTLY what we go camping for. If you need to make a phone call, you have to drive a mile or two up the road. But we personally forget we have phones while we're connecting with each other and God's creation.

This is a wonderful spot to camp. Big, open field alongside a river. Little traffic on the adjacent paved road. Beautiful spot to spend time with family.

What a stellar spot. This site was trash free and freshly mowed. The landscape itself was really great for setting up tents, lots of flat area. The noise from the river lulled us to sleep at night and was a refreshing wakeup call in the morning. Peaceful and quiet, with pleasant drives to both Helen and Tallulah Gorge.
It is a little close to a road and the neighborhors, but don't let that hold you back. We saw two cars the whole weekend, and the neighbors across the river are far enough that you won't be bothered. We didn't even think about them except for a couple of rooster crows in the mornings.
Overall a great experience, we felt secluded yet safe and surrounded by nature. We will book this again if we're in the area.

Amazing spot. The road was not an issue. The rooster making noise in the morning is a very real thing, but felt very private. Hearing the river all night was a peaceful feeling.

Great spot, I liked being by the river. Lots of shade. I didn't realize when I booked the site that I would be able to see the road. I just used my my car to block the view. Also, there wasn't a lot of traffic on the road, so I wasn't bothered by the view of the road. It was a good place for our first time camping on the beaten path. We did have to leave due to rain. If I'm in the area again I'll rent the same spot.

We loved spending the 4th of July on this property! The road is close but not very many cars go by, and when they do, you can’t hear them. The river is absolutely beautiful and has quite a bit of fish biting. We took our chairs to the middle of the river and really enjoyed the day relaxing. 43 acres of hiking if you’re into that, but we just stayed on the main camping grounds. The host greeted us the day we arrived and was very nice,.

Great spot...I always check to see its available because of its central location to the many recreational areas close by. Nice flat area for tent camping and good fire ring. River views and sounds are exceptional. Water runs clear with rocky riverbed. I would say the river area supports some fishing. Birds of prey patrol regularly. I will be back.

Me and my coworkers had a wonderful trip. Very peaceful location with a river right next to the campsite. It was so peaceful looking at the stars with the sound of the river. Awesome area to camp! Awesome host! Will come back in the near future!

I've been multiple times and will return many more. This plot of land is simple and serene, only a couple hundred feet from the road but a very quiet one. Great for beginner campers and lazy ones like myself who seek to reconnect with nature without being near anyone else. =

The site was amazing and beautiful !! Very nice and clean right next to the river. Only issue was the crazy chicken across the River that didn’t seem to know what time it was and kept Cock a doodle doing lol. It was funny and didn’t need an alarm clock to wait up the next morning. Very nice host as well he came down and introduced himself on a motorcycle 👍. Thanks for a great place to rest and recharge.

Chris's site is well maintained and the river is gorgeous. You have to follow instructions since there is no sign for the camp but it is really easy to find with the bridge if you look on the pictures and street view.
There is a house just on the other side of the river and very quiet. It is not "lost in the middle of nowhere" if someone is looking for being remote, remote. The main road is seclude, I heard one car during the night. If you walk on the road, you will see cows, horses, deer and maybe more. You will be the attraction. The landscape is beautiful.
