Darryl was very kind and easy to work with. The drive and directions to the tiny house were easy to follow.

What a great campsite! The sites are nicely placed apart with plenty of room to enjoy nature. We stayed at Solitude which was a bit of a hike from the car but so worth it. Can not wait to come again!

Stone Ridge Tiny House
Very nice and cozy cabin! My only complaint is it felt like it hadn’t been cared for in awhile, dusty, overgrown, missing basic amenities. But otherwise a wonderful and secluded cabin.
Ps: door doesn’t have lock

Great campsite!
Purplehaze Acres was a wonderful campsite! Beautiful, quiet, private, and everything you’d want for a weekend away. My partner and I loved this site and hope to come back in the future!

Site 1 Fallen Tower
What a wonderful hipcamp option. I stayed at Fallen Tower which had everything you could ask for. Parked my car right there, water spigot in the site, firewood for sale a close walk away. Beautiful, scenic site on an expansive property. Such a great camping option and beats the hell out of staying in a campground. Only negative is the rooster in the morning!

Good vibes for all
This was our first Hipcamp and first time at Purplehaze and we loved it! We stayed at Fallen Tower and it was 👌🏼for us (4 adults, 1 kiddo and a pupper). It felt spacious, special and more secluded than a state park site. We enjoyed the quick trip to the privy and appreciated the poison ivy reminder! Thanks for having such a special place we can come to to connect with nature, each other and ourselves!

Site 4 Firefly Camp
I went tent camping at Purple Haze Acres with some friends for a getaway weekend from Chicago. The site was very clean and kept up. A friend brought his dog -- the field in front of the campsite was the perfect spot for him to play while we made our meals over the campfire. All in all, I highly recommend this spot!

Stone Ridge Tiny House
Wonderful retreat in the woods
The cabin was great and better equipped than we expected. It was a welcome surprise to have electrical outlets inside, enough hardwired lighting not to need flashlights, and a comfortable bed in the loft. My wife and I love being outdoors, but don’t always feel like packing out all the gear to do tent camping for a quick weekend getaway. This was the perfect compromise of getting some time outdoors and still having some creature comforts.

Perfect getaway from the City!
Being from Chicago, we enjoyed our quiet and relaxing weekend at the Stone Ridge Tiny House! We also brought our dog, which worked out great.
The house provided really everything we needed. We were happy we brought extra jugs of drinking water though. We visited October, which was the perfect weather. The house might have been hard to keep cool in the summer!

Site 4 Firefly Camp
The site was very private, quiet with beautiful views. It is small though - so only one tent would fit - maybe two small ones. I was solo with my dog so it was perfect. There was an inexpensive & excellent wood source on site. So close to amazing hikes - really enjoyed my stay.

Site 3 Twisted Elm
Beautiful area - so peaceful, and the area is well-cared for. Stayed at twisted elm site, adjacent to a large field which was perfect for a picnic, relaxing in the sunshine, and stargazing. It's peaceful and quiet, but keep in mind there's a path to other sites close by so it's not totally private. We had a great time - will definitely come back and try a more secluded site.

Birthday Camping Weekend
Darryl was very friendly and welcoming during our trip to his gorgeous campsites! He was always available by message but also let us have our space/privacy. We had a group of 8 people and 1 dog split between 3 different campsites- Firefly, Twisted Elm, and Casey's Camp. All 3 spots feel secluded, while Firefly and Twisted Elm are very convenient yet on quite a slant, and Casey's is a big wonderful campsite, but is a trek up a steep hill. With that combination of spots, everyone found the perfect site for their needs!
When we were worried about rain, and being the only campers he had for the weekend, Darryl was nice enough to offer us the big group spot, Peace Camp, that also had a cooking/sitting shelter. Luckily we had plenty of canopies and the trees helped quite a bit so we didn't have to move, but really appreciated the offer!
One thing to note is you have to follow the driving directions EXACTLY, especially if you are getting in after dark. The driveway in is long, but listen to him when he says "DO NOT TURN!"
Overall, we loved it and will be back, hopefully with nicer weather!

I think I was the only one there so I can’t say anything about the noise level but it seems like sites are spaced out enough to be relatively quiet. All in all it was a great spot to camp for a few days

Stone Ridge Tiny House
This tiny house is so cute and cozy. Loved walking through the grounds and waking up to the sight of a good sun beaming down on wildflowers and rolled hay bales. It’s a great weekend getaway to simply relax or enjoy nearby Ice Age Trail hiking (20 min drive). (Side note: If you’re coming from Chicago, stop by Blue’s Egg in Milwaukee on the way home!)

Site 5 Darby's Camp
Easy and relaxing stay
Purplehaze Acres was such a treat! We stayed at Darby’s camp (site 5). In transparency, if you have a lot of gear, you may want to choose Fallen Tower or Firefly as your site. The hill was a *leeeetle* arduous for the amount of up and down. But overall, not the worst thing ever. Also, Site 5 is on a slope. Other camps near us were dispersed well and with the amount of trees, we felt it was quiet. Everyone in our area was super respectful of each other and we felt like we had a lot of solitude. We explored the land and walked a bit and really enjoyed the rustic feel of the space. We definitely would come back with more people at one of the larger (and maybe flatter) sites. :) We had a great experience here!

Site 6 Solitude
We had an incredible camping experience! We stayed at Solitude and loved how we didn't hear or see any of the other sites. The walk/hike to the camp wasn't bad with the help of the provided wagons. We highly highly recommend booking solitude, camping in the deep woods at night was unforgettable!!

Stone Ridge Tiny House
Cute, rustic cabin for a getaway
Very cute cabin! It was rustic and homey, with the most eclectic assortment of decorations. The loft bed was comfy and cozy and perfect to snuggle up in for the evening. I loved using the stove - you have to light a match to start the stove, quite the novelty. Like other reviews have said, when you’re packing pack like you’re going camping. Bring your own cooler with ice (the fridge worked okay, good enough for drinks, maybe not quite good enough for dairy products), bring your own water, bring something to keep your dry food in so it doesn’t attract critters (def something I regretted not bringing!), power source, garbage bags, etc. Everybody was very friendly and the cabin was so cute!

The campsite was perfect for two tents for a family of four. The fireflies in the field are no lie with gorgeous stars overhead. Convenient firewood made it easy. Darrell takes the care to make the visit special. He shared fresh corn with us!

Site 1 Fallen Tower
Overall a good experience! Some pros and cons for us though-
Pros
- the site is a stunner. Lots of room, sun and shade areas, beautiful trees, gorgeous views of the field
- well appointed, with a private water spigot, solid camping table, fire area with grate and charcoal grill
- Darryl was very responsive by text and welcoming when we arrived
- easy to purchase high quality wood
Cons
- outhouse was short on supplies-we needed to dash out for extra TP
- there’s a rooster close to the site that is really loud at sunrise. We were traveling with kids, and once they’re up, they’re up!

Great little retreat
Stayed at the Firefly site for 2 nights with our two dogs and had a wonderful time. Even though the other sites were occupied it was very quiet and secluded. Site was small and intimate but had a great view of the sunset and fireflies that filled field. Can't wait to come back
