Great Host, but Know What to Expect
Wayne is a great host who genuinely tries to make sure everyone enjoys their stay. Every morning, he drops by the campsite and offers a tour of his property (1hr). He’s also great with kids, even letting them help feed his animals, but no touching, viewing only. Wayne knows a lot about the area and is always happy to share.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind:
First off, the photos on the listing doesn't quite match the reality. The actual camping area is just a basic, open grass field with no shade - so it felt a bit misleading. A more accurate photo would’ve helped us set expectations better.
Second, there’s not much privacy. The sites are close together in an open space right next to the owner’s house. So if you’re looking for a secluded spot, this might not be the right fit.
Third, Wayne is very passionate about his land, which is great - but it does come with a long list of rules around rubbish, safety, and environmental care. You’ll need to sign a form agreeing to all of them. Totally fair, but it’s something to be aware of.
Lastly, this spot might be better suited to more experienced campers. There are no facilities at all. During our 4-night stay, we saw a couple of groups leave early, including one that seemed underprepared.
Overall, the location near Albany is lovely, but the setup may not suit everyone. Read the listing carefully before booking. Personally, I found it a bit pricey considering the lack of facilities, limited privacy, and strict rules.
