Kielock Homestead is a unique farm stay experience located centrally in the beautiful Kiewa Valley Victoria where you can camp right on the bank of the Kiewa River.  Some of the activities available include fishing, swimming, bush walking, bird and animal watching and bike riding. If you choose you can join in on farm activities such as feeding the animals,  collecting eggs and planting/harvesting fruit and vegetables. We have a small market garden available where you can pick and purchase seasonal fresh produce, alternatively vegetable boxes and eggs are available by arrangement and delivered right to your campsite.  Within the 200 acres of the property you will find it is home to many animals including kangaroos wombats platypus possums, bats and many bird and marine species. The main fish in the river are  trout and cod so if you would like to try your luck fishing this is the place for you.Some of the surrounding towns include Mt Beauty (20 mins), Yackandandah (30 mins), Bright (50 mins), Beechworth (50 mins) Falls Creek (60 mins) with the border towns of Albury and Wodonga only 50 mins away. These beautiful towns contain an array of boutique wineries, craft breweries, bakeries and cafes, or you can choose to follow a farm gate food trail. The area also provides opportunities to go horse-riding, bike riding on one of the many rail trails or be adventurous on the mountain bike tracks at Falls Creek in the warmer months with snow sports in winter. The surrounding mountain ranges offer numerous famous 4wd trails or you might like to try your hand at panning for gold. This is a working farm and our animals are our family. They are very friendly but only know us and not you so please do not enter their homes without us, but feel free to talk to them over the gates. Be aware that all fences are electric and are switched on at all times.  There is a dedicated communal campfire area for use when fire restrictions permit and we request that no additional fire pits are created during your stay.  As this is a working property we are unable to accommodate your pets. It is large enough to accommodate a tent and your vehicle on site and still maintain your own privacy. To camp at this site you must have a 4WD to gain access and you must bring your own toilet and have means of containing ALL waste and remove it all with you when you leave. This beautiful site has its own fireplace (firewood available) where you can sit in private soaking up nature and the stunning surrounds of the Kiewa Valley or you can walk or ride your bikes around the many trails on the property and even spend sunset on top of the big hill (affectionately called The Eagles Nest) with something to nibble on and a glass of something good

A great campsite to catch up with friends in a beautiful location. To stay at this beautiful location, you MUST bring your own toilets and have a way to remove ALL your waste with you when you leave. Peppermint Grove
Peppermint Grove is a beautiful, private site with a lovely view over the Kiewa River. The sound of the river was also so tranquil, it made our stay very relaxing. The site is flat, large and had some nice shaded spots to sit and admire the river and surroundings. The fire pit was also a bonus. Such a picturesque property, I wish we didn’t have to leave! Charles and Cas were wonderful, accommodating and friendly hosts with great communication before and during our stay. I highly recommend this Hip Camp and look forward to returning.

Site 3 – Tent/Van/RV Site at Kielock Homestead We spent a blissful long weekend at Site 3 and couldn’t have asked for a better escape. The location is stunning nestled right by the Kiewa River, with plenty of space for our caravan and gear. Access was smooth and well-marked, making setup a breeze. 🎣 The trout fishing was a highlight. Crystal-clear waters and plenty of quiet spots to cast a line. Whether you're an experienced angler or just looking to unwind by the riverbank, this place delivers. Campfire Magic - evenings were pure magic. We roasted marshmallows around the campfire under a canopy of stars, with nothing but the gentle sounds of nature in the background. The quietness of the site made it feel like we had the whole valley to ourselves. Caravan-Friendly & Spacious Site 3 had ample room for our van, with level ground and easy access to the river. It’s ideal for anyone travelling with a setup that needs a bit of breathing room. Charles was an absolute gem of a host. Friendly, responsive, and genuinely passionate about the land and the experience he’s created. He checked in to make sure everything was going smoothly and offered great local tips. You can tell he takes pride in making guests feel welcome and relaxed. If you're looking for a peaceful, nature-filled retreat with great fishing, campfire vibes, and a host who truly cares, this is the spot. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at this camping site! The location is beautiful: set on a peaceful farm right by the river, it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. The host was incredibly welcoming and kind, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a calm and cozy getaway!

Here’s a polished version of your review — keeps it friendly but a bit tighter and easier to read: --- I booked this place as a quick stop on my way from Sydney to Melbourne, and it turned out to be an amazing find. From the warm welcome by the owners to the stunning wildlife, the whole experience was a surprise. The location is beautiful, with plenty of animals around and some great walking tracks. I even managed to squeeze in a run and a refreshing dip in the river. I’ll definitely be stopping by again on my way back :)

We braved the Winter weather and got to enjoy the beautiful scenery of this gorgeous property. We will definitely be back in the warmer months but would highly recommend for a cosy Winter get away. Hipcamp link to google maps will lead you up the wrong road, be sure to key in the actual address. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. You can tell they are passionate about their land and animals. It shows in the maintenance of the property and deserves the respect that is expected upon staying here.

A very pretty campsite on the banks of the Kiewa River in the beautiful Kiewa Valley. Being mid May, the autumn colours from the gorgeous cottonwood trees made it quite magical. We were the only campers here and it was very peaceful, even when the cattle came for their evening visit! We appreciated Charles’ visits to make sure all was ok, top up fire wood supply and general information of the area. A sunset drive up to Eagles Nest was a highlight. Highly recommend.

An absolutely stunning site, in a gorgeous part of Victoria. The site was incredibly private, nice and flat and had easy access to the river. The hosts were really welcoming and accomodating. We loved it so much that we stayed an extra night. Highly recommend.

An absolutely wonderful place to camp! Loved the beautiful location, pristine camp ground by the river (good for a refreshing dip) and the stunning sunset across the valley. Well worth a stop for a few days.

This is one of our favourite Hipcamps!! Such a beautiful property that Charles and Cass so generously share. Love the little shop that Cass has set up with very yummy home produce. They are both great hosts and will even have a drink around the fire with you! The view is incredible and the river is certainly refreshing!!

Great hosts, well maintained and beautiful property. They set expectations when you arrive so everyone knows the rules to keep it a great experience. The cows, turkeys, goats, and the pet sheep Molly provide much entertainment.

Wow........What else can I say that others haven’t already said........This place is really really special........Cass & Charles are wonderful hosts who also have a beautiful array of friendly farm animals.......we will be back

Peppermint Grove
We had a great stay at Peppermint Grove - very serene and peaceful. We loved the space and enjoyed nice fireside cooking and fishing and dips in the river. It's very beautiful with the turning trees in autumn. The hosts were lovely and showed us around their beautiful garden and introduced us to the animals. Please do be conscious of the hosts rules and needs regarding firewood and bringing your own toilet. there is also a public toilet 15 mins down the road if you need it, as they have a beautiful farm with free ranging cattle so respecting the space is very important :)
