The Beach is the BEST site of our large acreage of pure bliss we call "Camp Ovens" where you can pitch a tent or park caravans where the banks of the glorious Ovens River meets the blocks unique billabong.  This site is our preferred spot when we camp at "Camp Ovens" with our friends & Family, so availability is not always guaranteed as we do enjoy being there ourselves often. this site boasts a covered charcoal BBQ and tables with direct easy access to the river via a sandy/Stoney beach area, it also boosts both excitement and practicality- located just minutes from Wangaratta CBD, whilst still being secluded like you’re miles away from anything. The Billabong is a rather secluded site away from other sites and yet another great section of our large acreage of pure bliss we call "Camp Ovens" where you can pitch a tent or park caravans banks of the blocks unique billabong. Depending on the time of the year, the billabong can be dry or rather full, and flowing fast with lots of fish in it (around summer it's likely to be low/dry and easily walked across to access other parts of the property and the magnificent Ovens River a couple minutes walk away This site boasts both excitement and practicality- located just minutes from Wangaratta CBD, whilst still being secluded like you’re miles away from anything. Maza's Table is situated right on the river with amazing views up and down stream and is pure bliss we call "Camp Ovens" where you can pitch a tent or park caravans where the banks of the glorious Ovens River meets the blocks unique billabong. Maza's Table is a smaller site directly adjacent with a approximately 3 meter drop to the river - suited more to fishing - very shady and lovely flat grassed area. Short walk to the beach area for a swim. This site boasts both excitement and practicality- located just minutes from Wangaratta CBD, whilst still being secluded like you’re miles away from anything. We really enjoyed our stay. Close to town and other attractions. Nice open area with river views. A relaxing stay perfect for a disconnect from work.

King of the North the Ovens River
King of the north was a lovely spot, by far the most secluded on the property. A little road/traffic sounds from the alpine road across the river but you can tune it out after a while. The river was beautiful and we got lots of lovely birds. Lots of cow poop everywhere so you need to watch where you step a lot of the time. Thanks for the lovely spot, we had a wonderful and relaxing time.

On The Billabong
The billabong is a great camping spot. Nice and grassy. Plenty of wood from fallen trees, but bring a chainsaw and an axe. Very close to Wangaratta town if you need something.

The Beach On The Ovens
What a beautiful camp, great big space to share with extended family. The beach is lovely and the shelter was good for the storm that came through over Easter Sunday. We enjoyed walks and bike rides, fishing, kayaks and winery visits. We all loved this spot and would love to come back again.

The Beach On The Ovens
A beautiful spot to call home for a few nights. Secluded and peaceful. Lots of spots to swim and fish. Across the river is public so there were quite a few people popping in and out over there but our campsite had no interruptions. A short drive into town was also a bonus. A fire pit and shelter were really handy and well used. Thanks Peter for such a great stay and always being on standby to help. We had a great time.

Peter was a generous and lovely host. The site was great: mature trees, grassy and green, great little path to the river on your doorstep. It seemed the most private site, away from other sites. We went when the river was at its lowest, which meant locals could easily access the campsite riverbank. So, not entirely private for skinny dipping, but still a really great campsite! Would recommend.

The billabong was tranquil and quiet ,the other sites were looked great too ,especially the beach .very relaxing fishing and soaking up the bush surroundings.A short walk to town to enjoy Wangaratta .would recommend . Bryan.

Great campsite close to town, though it feels like you are out bush. Piper 2 does not have safe access to the ovens river. Peter very kindly let us camp at a different campsite with river access, this was greatly appreciated as our stay was in 30-40 degree heat. We had a wonderful time at camp ovens and will come back again.

We camped at Piper 1. Loved tubing down the river and fishing out front of the site. Despite being walking distance to the town it felt like we were miles from anywhere. Would definitely come back!

Great instructions on getting there and settled. Campsite neat and tidy with great access to water and flat grassed areas to set up. Plenty of firewood and owner only too happy to help if you needed anything. Great host! One of the best parts of this stay was close proximity to Wangaratta and levy bank walk - yet you felt miles away from anywhere on the Ovens.

Amazing location, Peter was a fab host and made sure we had fresh drinking water as we had a lovely hot week while there. Great fishing and swimming location & made even better being able to have our fur family with us. Would 110% recommend this to anyone wishing to stay here. We look forward to returning that's for sure! Thanks for your amazing location.

We had a wonderful time at Piper 2. The weather was supreme so we made use of our own small beach for direct and easy access to the river to put the kayak and tube in. We also really enjoyed the proximity to town, and walked in a few times for breakfast and supplies. Peter was a great host and dropped in to offer us access to fresh water if needed. We would highly recommend Camp Ovens.

The Beach On The Ovens
What a great place for the whole multi generational family to camp! The little ones had a wonderful time in the shallows of the river and playing on the beach. The adults enjoyed canoeing and cooling off in the deeper water. The shelter was a wonderful place to set up our communal kitchen. We moved our chairs around under the shade as required throughout the day and sat around the fire pit at night. The mozzies were biting in the morning and evening and we found Bushman’s lotion with 80% Deet was the best at keeping them at bay. We had a wonderful 8 nights over Christmas and would highly recommend. Peter is a wonderful host and kept us informed of the very hot weather forecast and total fire ban.

Beautiful location right by the river. Felt like the most secluded campsite. Friendly host. 4 minutes drive from town. Firewood provided was a nice touch. Reasonably flat but couple of undulations so watch where you walk. Plenty of space for multiple cars and large groups. Some noisy campers and an off leash dog that followed us to our campsite. The river is swift so be mindful of you are boating that going against the current is almost impossible in parts. Some trees provided a bit of shade.

Great spot, plenty of open ground around an existing fire pit and access to the river for swimming. Once we worked out we could walk across the river to the beach (chest deep on an adult) or kayak across much fun was had, plenty of trees for shade but not right on top of where you camp. Would camp here again.

We are locals that wanted a spot on the river to camp over Xmas. It was well signposted and clear directions. Very close to town but doesn't feel like it when you are on the property. It doesn't have easy access to the river for kids from piper 1. It's a nice camp spot, however I'm glad there were not more campers at the other sites otherwise I would have felt they were too close. But they are generous sites we are just people used to camping remotely.
