Set amongst the gum trees and kangaroos, a beautiful break from suburban life. Nestled right in between the Barossa and the Adelaide Hills, fun places to explore are not too far away. Springton is the home of the historic Herbig Family Tree; in 1855 Mr Herbig and his wife lived in this tree and welcomed 2 of their 16 children whilst living inside the tree. We offer a wide grassy area peppered with trees, ideal for a relaxing spacious camp. No toilet facilities onsite so campers must be self-contained. Our site is located along the Lavender Federation Walking Trail. 7km from Springton General Store where you can pick up all basic supplies including fuel and simple takeaway meals, or Springton pub across the road has pub meals. 25 mins to Angaston (with the Barossa Valley Cheese Company) and the wider Barossa area. 30 mins the other direction to Woodside (where you will find Melba’s chocolate factory) and the greater Adelaide hills. 25mins to the Birdwood Motor Museum 30mins to the Big Rocking Horse in Gumeracha where you can climb the Big Rocking Horse for $2. 15km to Eagle View 4WD Track (Sanderston) If you’re here on a Saturday morning the Mount Pleasant Farms Markets (8am-12), 10 mins down the road is a great place to pick up some fresh produce and a coffee. Mannum Waterfalls - 30 mins drive is a beautiful spot for a walk.

Pitch a tent or pull up with your caravan. Whilst we do accept multiple bookings at a time, there is plenty of space on the wide grassy area to find a private nook. You’re welcome to have a fire in designated areas if the fire season permits. Please bring your own wood (you are welcome to collect small sticks from the ground for kindling). All campers must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet and we kindly request you take all waste when you go. Set quite away from the main farmhouse you will have your own privacy. There are a few resident kangaroos that you might see hopping around. Dogs are welcome on a lead, as we have livestock. What a wonderful spot, a super location to explore the Barossa region! Very easy access onto the property, very quiet surrounds as well! Sam and John were wonderful and we so appreciate the local insight into great places to visit! Thanks again!

Beautiful rolling green hills on either side of the property. It’s a peaceful place to sit and read, relax, have a camp fire. The owner has a dog which was so friendly. He made friends with us in the morning and was a delight to have around for a short visit.

Strathspey Farm Grassed Area
We had a nice quiet Easter weekend at Strathspey. A few other groups but plenty of space, probably 100-200 m between camps. John and Sam were relaxed and accommodating. The country was pretty dry - no decent rain for a couple of years, but really just a classic south aussie farm bush camp. We had 2 dogs with us, no problems at all with the grass or cows. The cows did get a bit friendly - we'll pack up our cooking gear before going out for the day next time! Thanks for the nice weekend and see you next time.

Lovely peaceful spot. Can’t believe how quiet for Easter weekend. Even made some new cow friends. They are super friendly and love a pat.

Wow what a cracking place to stay! Instructions were clear to get there and Sam and John were the friendliest of hosts! We were very lucky and had the whole paddock to ourselves but it is certainly big enough for a few sites. It was so cool to be close to the friendly inquisitive livestock (and not forgetting Evan the huge golden Labrador), It was a great place to stay and chill or use it as a base camp to visit all the great places around the area. We will definitely be back in the winter months to enjoy this place again with a camp fire and friends .

Strathspey Farm was wonderful! We were in a bit of a pickle as NYE rolled around so we were very thankful Sam's farm was available. Communication was good and the information and photos provided were extremely helpful. Lots of trees to provide shade cover and beautiful views of the country side

Overall the camp was fine. It would have been a lot better maintained like maybe mow the prickles and it definitely was not a grassed area. No grass in sight but that was mother nature's doing to be fair. Unfortunately fire ban made it a little less exciting again.

Great spot to relax and to get away. Flat area with plenty of room and good tree cover for those liking a more shady place and plenty of open land for those prefering or needing more direct sun light for their solars. Plenty of native birds, and those who love kookaburras like myself ,there were also.

The site was amazing, we had it to ourselves the first night and it was so peaceful. The stars were clear and crisp. It's in a great spot if you want to explore Adelaide and the wineries in the district.

Simple but beautiful stay in a grassy paddock. Lots of lovely gum trees filled with native birds flying around. Well worth an overnighter from adl. Peaceful and good star gazing at night

There are only 3 sites which are nicely spread out so you don't need to be looking into others space. Very peaceful and relaxing. Lot as of nearby places to explore. We will definitely come back again.

Very relaxing spot. Cows are very friendly. Have to be self sufficient and note there is no phone service with either Telstra or Optus. Close to some lovely towns.

We really enjoyed the open space of the farm. It was peaceful and the young cows were very friendly. It is central to a lot of local attractions. I loved that it was dog friendly. There was loads of firewood available around the beautiful old gum trees. Loads of bird life aswell. It was very dry, with no grass when we went. The farm was easy to find with gate signage from the street BUT the internal farm signs had all blown over so we didn't know where to go once in the property. There needs to be a sturdy sign on arrival. I was a little disappointed that Sam never came down to introduce herself and welcome us. Her husband did come and let us know he would be shooting on the property and he was friendly enough. I would suggest lowering the price a little, because there is no internet and no facilities. The road in may be tricky in the wet season, being a dirt road with a lot of pot holes. Thanks for having us. With a bit of tweeking, this could be a gorgeous experience for all. We had a good time.

Just spent 4 nights on Sam's farm and it was very relaxing. Beautiful and quiet, the cows came to visit, as did the family dog and hubby. Was just out of fire season so we couldn't have a fire but I reckon if you could it would be perfect. Will be back when it's a bit greener and we can have a fire. The family was very accommodating. The land is flat and we didn't need to level our RV much at all.

Sam was so lovely and our stay on the property was wonderful. Pity her neighbours are making it difficult for her. Wish they could be as friendly as her gorgeous cows. Would definitely stay again.

Great location with lots of level ground. The owners are a fair distance away and welcomed us on arrival. The sunrise and sunset were spectacular and the resident cows were super friendly.

First Australian Farm experience

We are Paddy and Jens, a german Couple and we travelling around Australia for one year. This was our first HipCamper experience and our first experience on a Australian farm. It was a great time and so easy, thank you very much Sam and your Family for staying on your property.

We loved tent camping here. Lots of flat soft ground and plenty of shade if you want it. It's peaceful, quite and picturesque. The owners house is far away so you don't feel like you're staying at someones home. Good communication from the owners and the cows are friendly and curious if they happen to be around. We will be back, thanks Sam.
