Thanks again Sally and Bruno for a great stay. We had the place to ourselves, just the cows and the wallabies! We stayed at the Dam camp and the dogs loved playing in the water, the nights are getting warmer but there was a breeze the whole time. We had a great time yet again.

We loved it here. We had it all to ourselves. Plenty of room for the kids to run around, nice mowed area, a sand pit for the kids and even a kayak in the dam. Bruno and sally were so welcoming. Highly recommend

Gumtree Rest was just that for our little family. The most beautiful and peaceful stay. We kept extending our stay because we didn’t want to leave!
It’s 100% worth the hour drive west just to stay. We had the whole site to ourselves for 3 nights.
Bruno and Sally are so incredibly kind- they made us feel so welcome. We already miss them having left this morning!

Even though it was a quick getaway and only one night, we loved camping at Gumtree Rest. Bruno met us on arrival and made us feel very welcome. Such a serene and beautiful place with loads of birds. We loved being able to bring our dogs and let them off lease to enjoy the dam. We will definitely return. Thank you Bruno 😊

My daughter and I loved at Gumtree rest. Was plenty of space. It’s was very relaxing with lots of birds and cows in neighbouring paddock. Plenty of water for you to use. A few kayaks to use on the creek. Campground was kept very neat and tidy. Bruno was a fantastic host and very helpful. We’ll definitely be going back.

The stay on Bruno's land was Beautiful,Flat, spacious and Quiet. Bruno himself was a delight to conversate with.
He will find you the best spot for your stay and is very welcoming, specially as I have two dogs.

Is a lovely piece of land to set up camp for a few days. Stopped along the way to see the Beautiful Burdekin River.
Beautiful Gum Trees and lots of shady areas.
Good fire wood and fire Pits..
Very Well looked after, and kept clean.

What a great and peaceful place to pull up and have a camp, plenty of shade, lots of wildlife, fire pits, even a pile of sand any toys for the kiddos to have a play in and to top it off a river to have a paddle down or a fish in (there were 3 kayaks there for your use)
It is a bit off the highway but if you value serenity this is definitely one of the best places I have stayed for that.

Absolutely beautiful spot with clean running water with a tap hookup, had the whole place to ourselves which made the experience so much more enjoyable, plenty of bird life, few cows, very peaceful beautiful place, would definitely recommend to anyone in the local area or passing through

We loved staying at gumtree rest! Was the perfect couple of nights away. Bruno and Sally were wonderful hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. We booked the dam camp but ended up staying in the paddock camp so we could have it to ourselves. Our dogs loved roaming around and watching the wallabies. Lots of shade and fire pits also.

Camped on the creek in a 19ft caravan, if you have a bigger set-up the track down is a bit tight and it is fairly steep and soft getting out so if you aren't up for a little bit of technical driving the dam camping would probably be a better option.
However the creek camp was very relaxing and private, had amazing birdlife and we caught one lone (big)redclaw!! 😆
Even managed to see a small freshwater croc surface in the creek but it submerged before we could take a pic!!
Had a couple of good yarns with Bruno, we loved our stay and will be back!

Gumtree Rest is a beautiful, tranquil place, full of wildlife- birds, wallabies, and cows in the next paddock who don't mind a chat. Bruno and Sally are wonderful hosts. So friendly and very accommodating. Bruno greeted us on arrival with a handful of home grown grapefruit, that were sweet like oranges, and he came over each day to make sure we had everything we needed. Simply the best Hipcamp we have ever stayed at.

We were looking for a close getaway and decided to try somewhere different than our usual spot. Gumtree Rest was exactly what we were looking for - peace and quiet out in the bush. We were fortunate enough to have the campsite to ourselves, but there was more than enough space for multiple campers/vans to be out of eachothers way.
The grass was green, the trees were shady, and there was plenty of wildlife.
We had a kayak in the creek nearby and thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
It was lovely meeting Bruno and Sally who made us feel right at home. Gumtree Rest will be our new go-to spot from now on. We are already planning our next stay.

It was a quick 90 minute drive from Townsville so we left Friday afternoon, just in time for the sun to set over the creek. Nice and quiet with noone else around. There were a couple of canoes which we took for a paddle. Bruno and his wife were loving, bringing us some delicious grapefruit, the sweetest youll ever taste. Cant wait to go back again

Such a great quiet spot to spend and unwind. The serenity was welcome. Other tenants were quiet and easy to get along with (the cows in the next paddock !) Bruno greeted us with some delicious grapefruits on our arrival. The dam camp is lush, green, and nicely kept. Bird life around the area was pleasant, as was the roos that came for a visit. Got to see a cane burn. It's awesome if you've never seen it before. This camp is a 12 out of 10. Definatley visiting again in the future. Thanks Bruno!!

Really nice spot with a great view. We had almost the entire camp to ourselves which was lovely. Owners property isn’t too far if you have any issues. Both hosts were lovely.
