Misleading Listing Experience
Overall, we had a good experience initially, however after the first night there appeared to be an issue with us being on the property. At approximately 7:00am we were woken by a male who questioned whether we had permission to stay there. I advised that we did, as the booking had been made and paid for through Hipcamp. He then stated that he was the owner and explained they had stopped operating through Hipcamp several weeks earlier due to planned building works on the property.
Although he allowed us to remain because payment had already been made, the situation left us feeling unwelcome, particularly as he was also camping on the property during our stay. This was contrary to the advertisement describing the site as a private, single-site camping experience with four acres exclusively to yourself.
We were disappointed and frustrated to be placed in this situation through no fault of our own, and believe both the owner and Hipcamp should have ensured the listing and booking arrangements were accurate before accepting reservations.
