Learn more about this land: This is a forested area including trails and a wooded wetland. Campfire sight is provided as well, firewood is available for sale on site. A port a john toilet is located near the cabin. It is a rustic site with a small cabin and areas to pitch tents. The area where the cabin sits is all pines. Secluded area yet close to town. Easy access from State Route 33. Walk in or drive in depending on your vehicle you drive. The cabin consist of a fold out bed, table and heater. Propane is provided as is a rustic portable ice chest inside the cabin. For those that desire to shoot small handguns we do have a pistol range on the property. In addition we have a small wooded dock area beside the wetlands to relax and enjoy. Our site was rated as Tree Farmer of the year (2021). Lots of wildlife and again very private oasis in the midst of a growing rural community. For those that desire to shoot small handguns we do have a pistol range on the property. Note: NO HUNTING ALLOWED. Our site was rated as Tree Farmer of the year (2021). Lots of wildlife and again very private oasis in the midst of a growing rural community. Not advisable to pull trailers on the property unless they are of a pop up type or small pull behinds. Note: for those that prefer to hike in we can shuttle any equipment or provisions in free of charge. Parking of vehicles at the check in point is provided if one decides to hike back! Areas of interest close to the property is the highest point in Ohio. Ohio Caverns is near by and Mad River Mountain ski slopes. The Mad River is located nearby in West Liberty for those canoeing enthusiasts. Indian Lake is a 15 minute drive from here for boating, fishing and or swimming beaches. The town of Bellefontaine provides a variety of eatery's and shops in the downtown area. We welcome visitors to come and experience the nature and beauty of GreyOaks Tree Plantation! Note: Effective 2026 our HipCamp is closed from November 1 until April 1.! Bookings during these months only by request and availability due to weather! NOTE: GreyOaks is not responsible for any lost or damaged personal items, or any items left behind after a camper leaves. Thank you

Thank you, to Robert and Maria, for making your beautiful space in the woods available to us! Typically, we primitive camp on state grounds, so this was a different experience for us. By contrast, GreyOaks is much less impacted, with lush moss and thick grass everywhere. Even with our dog dashing toward the mud, it was so much cleaner than our usual camping trips. We enjoyed observing a forest in private care and how that differs from state campgrounds--it's less wild, but also less unruly and no trash (yet, trash cans, which is oddly nice when one is used to packing out their refuse). We saw plenty of wildlife (which was extremely exciting for our dog). Robert and Maria were very warm and accommodating. They clearly have put a lot of thought and care into the space. We particularly enjoyed the solar powered Edison lights strung around the campground, magically turning on at dusk. We all had a lot of fun and the space was perfect. Thanks so much!

Amazing stay! The cabin was beautiful and peaceful, Robert and Maria were incredibly, and our two dogs loved it too. We really appreciated the marshmallows and late check-out. We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful property
Can not say enough good about Grey Oaks. This property is absolutely stunning. Very private. Excellent host. The cabin was just perfect for a quick getaway. Highly recommend and would definitely revisit.

What an amazing spot & amazing time. Robert & Maria do such an awesome time taking care of the spot, it really is an oasis in Bellefontaine, even the bathroom situation is spotless. I 100% recommend! I went solo this time, but I'll definitely be back with my kids! Beautiful property and very accommodating hosts! Cabin was warm and cozy, loved the extra touches of firewood, candles, etc. Porta-potty was super clean. The perfect place to getaway and recharge.

This cabin and the land was a perfect place to relax and explore. The trails through the forest to the cabin are very nice, and the cabin itself was clean and well stocked with supplies. The provided trash cans made things much easier regarding clean up/ pack out. The hosts thought of everything to make this an enjoyable stay, thanks again!

Great little cabin tucked into the back of a tree farm. Trail takes you back to the spot. Propane heater keeps the cabin nice and warm even on a 35degree night. Will definitely be back. Thanks Rob!

5 Star Hipcamp

We had the best weekend camping at this location. This Hipcamp truly felt secluded in a wooded area, yet with the convenience of being near town. Robert and Maria went above and beyond; they are truly fantastic hosts. There are multiple trails to explore, and this property has a shooting range, which was a huge bonus! They supplied firewood for us, which feels like a luxury when camping. Between the comfortable cabin, clean toilet, provided table and chairs, the list of positives about this Hipcamp is endless. Our only regret is not booking a second night.

This Hipcamp was great! Plenty of space to wander and trails to explore. Robert and Maria gave us a very friendly welcoming and tour upon arrival. We were unable to drive right up to the camp because of recent excess rain issues, but it wasn’t a problem at all; just a short walk to the cabin and hangout area. The cabin was perfect for my son and I, very clean / tidy, and well equipped. Anymore than 3 might be tight, but doable. The outhouse was also amazingly clean and close to the cabin to make a cold morning chore easy. Fire-pit was nicely-sized and had unlimited wood. Noise from highway was present as called out/expected but it was not a problem. Would definitely recommend Robert and Maria’s place - we will be back!

Loved the relaxing getaway on this tree farm. Directions were clear, host is very friendly, and the property is just what we were looking for.

The land was great! We slept three in the cabin comfortably, and the heater came in very handy since it got pretty cold. Great spot to have a campfire, walk around and have a spot of land all to yourself. As others mentioned, Rt. 33 is nearby and you can hear cars if you're outside, but other than that it was awesome. Hosts were very hospitable and helpful.

Robert is a great host and his land is beautiful. We had a great time wandering through the woods with our dog. The property abuts 33 so there is a fair amount of road noise but there's a fence in-between so little safety risk for a trained dog. It's very private and a nice place to unwind close to the city and only a few minutes from downtown Bellfontaine. The drive in is grass and dirt so you may not be able to drive all the way in if there's been heavy rain or your car isn't suitable. Would certainly recommend.

Great Oak is a beautiful spot in the woods and Robert is a sincere host! It was perfect for relaxing near a campfire and eating a few s’mores with my son. We look forward to staying here again!

Secluded Cabin Close to Town
Group trip
This is a really cool cabin on a beautiful piece of property. Pond, firepit, porta pottie, trees... etc and only a couple minutes from the very cool town of Bellefontaine. Host was great and lets you know everything you need to know. Even let us park our car there and extra day (we were out bike-packing). Things to note: This is back in the woods behind the house down a beautiful rustic path. This is a positive - but depending on what you plan to bring know you will be carrying it or rolling it. (As mentioned we were loaded on our bikes so no trouble for us). There is some noise from the freeway behind the property. At the time we were there it was about the same volume as the spring peepers. Didn't notice it from in the cabin - but it also rained on the tin roof that night. This wasn't a problem at all for us but if you are really sensitive to noise worth noting. Anyways - we would stay again and recommend it to any friends.
