The only problem with Barnard River Camp was that we didn't stay long enough! It was beautiful, quiet, and great value!

Great campsite
This is such a beautiful campsite with a flowing river and good shade. We stayed a bit away from the main campsite to ensure peace and quiet and had a fantastic time. Darrin is a very good host who is attentive to ensuring everyone has a good time. Thoroughly recommended. Alan

Good place to stay
The camp ground was well maintained and flushing toilet was a bonus! Close to the dams and Hanging Rock or just a good spot to relax. Would be busy if all 4 spots were booked, but Darrin has other areas that he can put people if they want a bit more privacy.

Nicely secluded. Elevated location suits summertime camping. Babbling Brook beside the camp area for swimming, fishing and crauchies. Shower and toilets. Genial host. Near to Nundle which is its own little gem town.

Beautiful place to stay with a lovely river right beside the camp, some lovely water holes to cool off in the hot weather. We met Darrin on our second day with his beautiful dog Reggie and he was very helpful with showing us around the place and giving information on places to see and things to do around the area. I would highly recommend staying here and we can't wait to get back there again.

Gorgeous location, very secluded and beautiful. We had such a wonderful and relaxing time. The last unsealed section of the drive in was even manageable in a 2WD, though wouldn’t recommend driving in late at night. Great to have a shower and flushing toilet nearby, and we had a great time in the river. Lovely campsite, would visit again in a heartbeat!!

Camping with my motorbike
Very nice and serene place. I was on my small Ninja 400 carrying all my camping gear. The road leading to the camp is unpaved, but a 2 WD would be okay on it. The toilet is clean with toiletries supplied. I am not sure if the water from the taps is drinkable. It would be advisable to get your own water. I was lucky my fellow campers very generously lent me some water from their jug.

Beautiful spot
We absolutely loved our trip to Barnard River Farm hipcamp. Plenty of room to spread out and an awesome firepit with hot plate to cook anything from snags to schnitzels. Darrin has put a lot of work into making the campsite as comforting as possible. The addition of the toilet and shower is a perfect balance between feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere (in a good way) but still having access to the essentials. The sound of the river flowing next door was incredibly peaceful. We will be back!

Escape To Nature
We took our Zone RV into Barnard River Farm and had a wonderful 3 days camped on the side of the river. The trip over the mountain was challenging but just took it steady. The bird life on the river, especially the scarlet robins was extraordinary. Very quiet relaxed escape.

Wonderful peaceful getaway
The area is a river flat with grass and level sites, it is beside the Bernard River with access to the river from campsite. A firepit is provided plus toilet and water. Darrin is a generous host, the area is quite and remote with no service or internet. Getting there is for 4wd over dirt mountain roads.

Truely Relaxing Holiday
We loved the holiday, probably the most relaxing one we have ever had. We had the place to ourselves, a great fire pit, bonus amenities and plenty of wildlife and the most beautiful river flowing. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful spot.

Nice and quiet
Absolutely beautiful camp spot. Very well maintained, nice and flat surface, perfect ratio of sun and shade throughout the day. Overall a very well kept spot. Darrin came down and introduced himself and his fur babies, we talked for 10 minutes then he left, not intrusive at all and very friendly. River is fun to play in with deaper spots up and down stream. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Relaxing and refreshing stay
A tranquil, relaxing and well maintained space separated from the rest of the farm. The campground is easily accessible along an unsealed road about a 40 minute drive from Nundle We were kept company by the 2 delightful resident horses and Reggie the dog. The river was wonderful to swim and cool off in during the day and the sky beautiful for stargazing at night. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Secret spot!
Darrin runs a very tidy and well secluded campsite right by a healthily flowing river. The amend ties are above standard fare- including a flushing toilet. Bring a bbq gas cylinder if you want a hot shower. We were there in January 2021 and the river was was flowing and perfect for swimming in. Darrin’s campground has turf better than my lawn! The drive in from about Sheba Dams is unsealed. We had a low clearance AWD and were totally fine. A 2WD car should be fine in most conditions. Would recommend driving in and out during the day as there are LOAD of native animals in the area. A walk along the river banks we spotted no less than 3 wombats. I tried fly fishing at Sheba Dam (lower dam) and as it was a busy weekend the fish were disturbed but I was assured that there was trout in there by local Trout farmer at Arc En Ciel trout farm (would recommend going there, it’s only 25 mins away). Not too much in the way of hiking from camp as it seems to mostly be surrounded by private land. A short drive away from the start of some great trails. Jump on AllTrails and check that out. We only saw one car on the road the entire time we were there. For how easily accessible this place is it’s very very private. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Darrin was really friendly and accommodating. He came to check that we had everything we needed and offered us some local knowledge. The camp was smaller than I was expecting but was beautifully kept and we had no issues with our camping neighbours. Overall we had an excellent week and enjoyed our stay.

Secluded River Camp
Great spot to get away and relax. The site was elevated and level on the banks of the river with a nice fire pit area. We didn't meet the host, however the directions were very clear and easy to follow. Highly recommend if you are looking for a secluded spot, we really enjoyed our 3 days there and will no doubt be wanting to revisit again.
