Weekend Trip to The Crow’s Nest

Due to some unexpected weather changes, my reservation was moved from the wigwam to The Crow’s Nest. I did get a chance to check out the wigwam site and it was absolutely fantastic and adorable. Everything was clean, well maintained, and exactly as described. The Crows Nest was absolutely a glamping experience for me. The cabin is fully kitted out with everything you need, I was able to just leave most of my camping gear in my car the whole weekend. The hosts are not only generous, but also kind and very helpful. They provide activities and maps for the local area and happy to make recommendations. The site is quiet and calm, plenty of wildlife for you to sit back and watch. The hiking trail on the property is well maintained and clearly marked, offering some fantastic views. Depending on weather, bring your bug spray, but the hosts also provided a fan in the wigwam which was unexpected and super helpful for bug control! There is a little neighborhood nearby and we had some fireworks noise right after Independence Day. This was much less intrusive than in the suburbs and did not go late into the night at all. Most people were on golf carts, so not much road noise, no kids or dog noises like at public campgrounds. You really get to feel like you’re alone in the forest when the turkey and deer pop by to check for crumbs around your fire pit.

We recently had the pleasure of camping out here! Such a beautiful place! The river is easily accessible! The campsites are large, beautiful and very well maintained!! The hosts Kevin and Kristina are genuinely great people! We enjoyed everything about this place! From the river and meeting great people! Thanks for making our experience great! ♥️

4 nights at Barney Lake Vista

It's an amazing private site with an amazing view. Very clean porta potty and nice landing pad for a trailer or motorhome. The hosts are very accommodating and make getting firewood very easy! There isn't a lot of grass or shade trees though so if that's your vibe this may not be your space. And make sure you bring your deet, the deer flies and mosquitoes could carry you away.

This was a really cool spot on the river and close to town. There is a play set for kids and my daughter loved the swings. The hosts were amazing, generous, and kind. We had a great time! Thank you!!!

Weekend Trip to The Crow’s Nest

My hosts were warm, inviting, and gracious. Being a solo traveler can be scary sometimes but they made me feel right at home. Inviting me to their bonfire as well as offering to let me borrow their kayak plus a drive up the River. I cannot say enough good things about them. The wigwam itself was a unique experience and was very temperature controlled with a fan and comfortable beds. Be sure to bring your own pillows. I will definitely be back and with friends next time!

1 night at Barney Lake Vista

Stayed one night as a stopover on the way north. Site was easy to find, spacious, and had a great view of the lake. Just make sure to bring lots of bug spray, the mosquitos are brutal.

1 night at The Lost Oaks Campground

Amazing campsite. Very clean and well maintained. Cute campstore and the best shower I’ve had while camping. Highly recommend!

4 nights at Pine Creek⛺️💫Private Hilltop Camp

Very cool private site. We loved walking down the country road and gazing at the meadow. The marked trail at the campsite was fun to explore. Almost no mosquitoes at the end of June! 5 minutes from Halls Lake, a beautiful lake with small beach and playground. We kayaked 2 days in a row there. Will plan to come back to E's campsite!

Weekend Trip to Barney Lake Vista

The location is incredible with wonderful sunset views! Our kids enjoyed playing and we made a day trip out of Houghton lake shops and restaurants. The fire pit was great and very friendly and responsive owners. Thank you!

This was our 5th year here and we look forward to it every year. Kevin and Lori make your stay feel like a 5 star hotel out in nature. Everything you need, or want, is here - including the most helpful, friendly, and generous hosts. I could leave a longer review, but I would just be repeating what everyone else has said. This place, and Kevin and Lori, have become family to us, and we truly appreciate all that they do.

Really flexible host. I was rolling through the UP on my way to Montana and asked last minute if I could camp around 9:00, Dennis was really easy going and the spot was nice and private so I didn’t feel awkward changing clothes/setting things up. I’d stay again if I were visiting the UP, makes a really nice base camp. Thanks Dennis!

We love staying here. It’s very kid friendly and the hosts are beyond warm and welcoming. This place is beyond accommodating and really comfortable. This was our second year and we plan to come every year!

I recently stayed at this private campsite, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Tucked away from the noise and crowds, this spot offered the kind of quiet that’s hard to find these days. The site was clean, well-maintained, and had just the right balance of rustic charm and comfort. We had a fire pit, picnic tables, water, electricity and even access to a clean toilet. The host was welcoming and respectful of our privacy, which made the stay even better.

Probably one if not the best camping experience we’ve had in a long long time. Kim is super friendly and helpful. The property is HUGE and beautiful, with loads to explore and look at. The spots they have are secluded and peaceful, you even get your own bathroom!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend giving this place a go!
