Horses and small animal experience available, ask on arrival. I recommend booking a walk with the horses the river for an hour.
This campsite has access to a beautiful toilet/hot shower and drinking water supply in the workshop. There is also an outdoor shower in a water tank surround and an outside bath heated by a fire. Small camp kitchen with coffee machine, fridge, sink and bench also in the workshop.
Large outdoor movie screen, we generally screen family movies on Saturday night among the gum trees and strings of lighting. Please enquire if you are interested.
Campfires and bonfires permitted in winter. No fire from October to May.
While you're here check out the Greenough walk and cycle track that follows the river. It's only 3km to the beach, and you can walk or take your bike there (bike hire is available in town). We have canoes.
Greenough Settlement/café and Wild Life Park close by.
Pets welcome on a lead. Off lead welcome after we had met and chatted. Dogs are a danger to all horses, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens. Off lead without consultation will not be tolerated.
Please enter Devlin Pool Rd at the Northern end where it meets Jandanol Rd. We are the 3rd driveway.

"We had a wonderful stay at Dougal Retreat! It is such a beautiful space to truly spend time in nature with the family. Nothing was too much trouble for Sara and Paul—they were incredibly accommodating and even helped us get some power to run our aircon on a particularly hot day, which was a lifesaver.
Our daughter was over the moon being able to help Sara feed the horses, and we all loved throwing sticks for their friendly farm dogs. The facilities are great; there is a clean toilet and shower, and a very welcoming shed with a rustic camp kitchen. We spent our evenings watching the sunset and staring at the stars, which were so bright out there. It was also a huge plus that we could bring our own dog along!
The spots are secluded with plenty of space, and it's just a short drive to the river mouth. We can imagine it would be just as wonderful in the winter with a fire to sit by. Thank you Sara and Paul for being such welcoming hosts!"

Would highly recommend stopping at this beautiful place. I arrived to a warm welcome from Sara, she was very accommodating and understanding as she helped me settle in. The place was beautiful with heaps of room for for families and a walk away from the river . I got to park near the horses and the pony , too cute 😊 Thank you Sara for making me feel welcome 🙏

This has to be our favourite Hipcamp ever!!! Sara was so kind and took amazing care of us. A stunning and peaceful location just out of Geraldton and only a couple of minutes off the highway. Our boys loved saying hi to the horses. We loved having a camp with a hot clean shower and a kettle!!!

Sara was very welcoming and accommodating. Our site was nice with a lot of space for privacy. We stayed 2 nights and found it an ideal base for the sightseeing we planned and only a short drive to Geraldton.

We have a great time at Dougal’s retreat, we loved sitting by the fire watching the stars.
Sara was delightful and was so good with our 4 year old taking her to see all the animals and letting her feed them and put them to bed.
Would highly recommend this place as a base to explore Geraldton, thanks again Sara!

This was a beautiful place to stay. Quiet and peaceful, with magnificent trees, great walks and views and very good amenities. This is clearly a labour of love for Lynn and Phil and family. We look forward to staying here again
