The Wimmera is generally fine and sunny region of Victoria, big horizons and wide open spaces. Conditions are ideal in March/April/May and August/September/October, although camping will be allowed all year round, conditions in November/December/January/February can be extremely hot. During summer months proper preparation is required, plenty of drinking water and appropriate sun ware will be essential. Dogs are allowed on leashes, all dog poop must be entirely collected. Cats allowed only with collar, name tags and bells attached, any cat without will be treated as feral. Train and bus services are available to Dimboola from Adelaide and Melbourne Absolutely wonderful natural beauty, on the banks of the majestic Wimmera River. Great fishing, canoeing, rowing, bird watching and water skiing 1 km up stream. Boat ramp is available at Picnic Bend and at the South end of Lloyd St, the Main Street in Dimboola. First came site is adjacent to Dimboola and others heading upstream for about 2km on the eastern bank of the Wimmera River. The “Dreamtime Billabong” a frog paradise, is a cut off water body, from the Wimmera River, with amazing double canoe tree on the junction with the River. Wildlife that can be seen would be similar to that of the Little Desert National Park. Some very large goanna’s are present and possibly some snakes, most common are the eastern Brown snake. The snakes generally don’t bother people but accidental encounters can occur. There are also bull ants and their bit can be very painful. Campfires are allowed in compliance with all fire regulations. The fire restrictions apply in the Wimmera from approximately 1 st November to middle of March every year. Campfires must be attended at all times during this period, with 3 metres completely clear of all vegetation. TOTAL FIRE BAN days, are common in the the summer and ABSOLUTELY NO FIRES can be lit in the open. We are slowly renovating the house, so it is a bit rough but it is clean and functional and you will have the place to yourselves. Please respect the locked private areas of the house. We loved our stay at Old Man Grampians. We had our own site away from other vans and it was lovely looking out to the Grampians. You will wake up to Emus, Kangaroos, Deer and the birds. Would definitely recommend if your planning a visit to the Grampians.

Best hip camp, the place is so peacefull and even with other campers there, you didn’t hear from them as we were far enough away. We could pick any site when we got there and had our Firepit. John a Greta were so helpful and friendly. Don’t waste your money staying in town this place is only 10 minutes away.

Steven’s property was really beautiful and just the right amount of size so we didn’t feel overwhelmed. There was a flushable toilet, a little shower available 1 night and really nice to light a fire. Steven came and said hi and checked in - it was a really peaceful spot.

If you want to be a short drive from the Grampians but want more quiet and space then camping in Halls gap, this place is great. We are completely self sufficient so we were able to park a long way from any other campers. Kids were able to explore the land, throw some yabbie nets in the damn with success and ride their bikes. Ample free fire wood. Basic flushable toilet and hot shower available. Steven was a very friendly host and quick to respond to messages.

We loved our time camping at the Greyt Sanctuary - the Grampians Views site lived up to its name. The site was flat and grassy, on the edge of a woodland patch that the kids loved exploring. Roos bounded past morning and evening. The composting toilet was a win - the best one we've ever seen! Melanie was a delight to communicate with and made us feel very welcome. We hope to visit again!

The site was a part of Caravan Park and great location. Amenities were very well managed nice and cleaned. There were potable water available and and hot water for relaxed shower. Great place for go away from city noise and throw yourself in the nature. Very comfortable with children aged 3 and 9 too. Highly recommend for camping.

Weekend Trip to Farmland Camp

We really enjoyed our recent camping trip at Steven's property - he showed us a beautiful spot overloading a creek and went out of his away to accomodate us with firewood etc. There were lots of animals to see - llamas, sheep, horses, rabbits, which the kids loved. It was great to be able to get to Halls Gap so easily and then have a nice quiet place to retreat to. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Stawell Grampians Gate Caravan Park

We loved camping at this caravan park, the sites are good size and the power was working in the sites. The lake is very beautiful with 0.25 cents coffee/ hot chocolate is a cherry on top to enjoy the views. The camp kitchen is clean and got enough fridge's to keep your items. There are two bbq stations inside camp kitchen which are clean, we didn't get chance to use it as it was crowded during the night. Thanks for Natalie for looking after us and being kind and helpful throughout our stay. We have upgraded our camp-site stay to cabin stay due to rain and the staff are very helpful in that process. Only one improvement is cleaning the restrooms regularly and keeping some odour resistant sprays would make the stay 10/10.

There was plenty of room and it was very peaceful. With Kangaroos and Emu’s wandering about. Having a fire pit on each site allowed for a pleasant night by the bush tv watching the stars.

Honestly, what a location and such a great host. The compost toilet block idea was great and probably the best one we've seen so far. Sunsets and stargazing were the cherries on top, we'll definitely come back

3 nights at Gariwerd Farm Camp

One of, if not the best camp and we have stayed at a few. Jason’s instructions were clear, even phoning a couple of days before to confirm we if we had any questions and to clarify a couple of things. He was a wealth of knowledge on the area and suggested a couple of places to go. The property, peaceful and private, views were spectacular, sunsets outstanding , the wildlife included many species of birds, wallabies, kangaroos and rabbits. Having the use of the bathroom was an added bonus. Cannot wait to go back.
