Rivers Edge

Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish.

The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours.

We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need. 

The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found. 

River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it. 

Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave.

Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river)

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by.  

We love the peace and serenity here so please no unruly behaviour or parties.

We grow and process organic certified medicinal herbs and plants.

The camping site is located in a beautiful location overlooking the lavender fields, in bloom december/january, with the ever-changing Mt Roland in the background. 

On days with cold southerly winds, alternative campingsites are available on the farm. Please contact us to find out. 

Includes use flushing toilet, hot shower and laundry (external access). Approx. 300m from the campsite. We are pet friendly.

We've got room for up to 5 separate bookings.

Due to shortage of personnel, we can no longer offer the farm tours. Hope this will change coming season 2024/25. But hipcampers are welcome to have a walk on the farm. 

We are working together with other organic certified farmers. They lease parts of our land to grow vegetables. Hipcampers are welcome to have a walk around their crops as well.

Big news: we have started to build a tearoom with possibilities to organise herbal workshops and give education about growing and using medicinal herbs. . It will also have a shop and space to enjoy light refreshments, organic coffee, chocolate, juice and herbal tea. 

Extra bathroomfacilities will be available to our hipcampers only. 
Hope to have it finished season 2025/26.

Farm on Franklin - Tasmania

Campsites are alongside Franklin Rivulet- a picturesque tidal estuary in northern TAS.  At Farm on Franklin you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, bushwalking, bird watching, oystering (please cook them), and wildlife spotting.

We are 15mins to Port Sorell, Bakers Beach, Narawntapu National Park, and House of Anvers Chocolate Factory. 25mins to Devonport, 1hr to Launceston, 1.5hrs to Cradle Mt and surrounded by attractions from Berry Farms to Wineries and stunning farmland. 

This is a beautiful natural campsite on land near our home. You'll need to have your own power, toilet/shower and leave no trace.

We've had 18 months off, but we're back and hope to see you soon!

The Farm Cradle Country

Set high up in the mountains of cradle country our beautiful  farm is peaceful and picturesque. The majestic presence of Mt Roland, Mt Van Dyke, Mt Claude and Black Bluff can be seen from various parts of our property. 

Nestled in the heart of North West Tasmania with camping close to Cradle Mountain only a 35 minute picturesque drive without the hassle of towing the van. Close to Sheffield the town of Murals, Lake Barrington perfect for swimming, rowing and water skiing, Tasmazia with its model villages and endless mazes to occupy the kids, Latrobe Chocolate Factory, Ashgrove Cheese Dairy Door, Van Diemans Ice Creamery, Wild Mersey MTB Trail network, Mole Creek Caves, Mount Roland hikes, Forth Falls and surrounded by many amazing walks and other natural Tasmanian attractions close by. 

For those wanting to spread out, prefer privacy, traveling in groups or prefer mountain views we encourage you to book our 4wd Plateau and 4wd Dispersed Sites which are open during the peak months depending on cattle movements. Our main campground has 10 sites and is accessible for standard cars. The main campground has level grassed campsites measuring 6m in width and 19m in length (Sites 2 - 10) Campsite 1 is the larger site and measures 10m in width and 19m in length and sits seperate to the other sites a little closer to the road.

Price advertised is per site, per night for 2 people. Campfires permitted in designated area within the main campground only and when restrictions aren't in place. Firewood is provided. No amenities on site you must bring your own camping toilet and water. ** NO Dogs allowed on property as this is a working farm**

Located just 30 min drive from Launceston, Harveydale offers a camping experience with basic amenities where you can bring your pet dog, and horse too!

The nearby village of Westbury is a quaint and beautiful place with with a distinct English charm. The greater region has much to offer including trout fishing, the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, Ashgrove Cheeses, Tamar Valley Vineyards, and good hikes in national parks. Cradle Mountain and the  Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park are must-sees.

We offer:
toilet and basic kitchen amenities with dispersed camping so you can choose where to set up your tent or park your campervan. Folks holidaying with horses should bring all equipment to ensure your horse is kept safe. Please let us know if you would like to purchase horse feed.
