We are approximately 13 km south-west of New Norfolk, and 50 km from Hobart. We have a range of accommodation options, including camping, a ten bed dormitory and a self-contained family cabin. All guests have access to the communal facilities comprising: * kitchen and common room * toilets and hot showers * free laundry facilities * free barbeque facilities * free Wi-Fi Discover the variety of unique Tasmanian animals and birdlife on the property, or take an easy drive to some of Tasmania’s most renowned World Heritage wilderness areas and National Parks a short distance away.​​ Due to our driveway access, we do not recommend booking our site if you are towing a caravan.

This reduces the area of the campsite a little and makes entry tighter for big rigs so anything over about 10m will find it tricky. Please consider this before booking. The good news is that till after the wedding, we’re only opening one campsite so you can be guaranteed to have the whole place to yourselves! For the rest of the description, please see below Deep Glen is a beautiful, quiet 5 acre property at Eaglehawk Neck, gateway to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. Hiking, surfing, fishing, swimming, diving are all at your doorstep, not to mention the famous Three Capes Track and the Port Arthur Historic site just a short drive away. If you want to see the coast shown in these photos, both the Tasman Island Cruise and Wild Ocean Tasmania offer excellent trips Bookings are for two adults; children under 16 are free. It may be possible for larger groups to occupy one site - please enquire before booking. As the site is teeming with wildlife including the barred bandicoot, we don't allow dogs. There are no facilities on the block apart from a long drop dunny (byo paper) and a small supply of non-potable water so you will need to be self-sufficient though there are good meals at the nearby Lufra Hotel and excellent coffee just up the road at the legendary Cubed Coffee van. The river here is freshwater, potable and a renowned trout water, (licence required). Three kilometres from the village of Gretna. 4WD Preferred. 2WD need to assess river access. Campers need all own amenities and leave no trace. Dog friendly but please see rules, we have livestock and so dogs need to be well controlled at all times. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place (see rules around campfires). There are Mountain biking options in the area but just not within the National Park. Campers must be nature-orientated travelers, this is not a place suitable for Port Arthur only tourists.

This place is a must when passing through the area or exploring Mt Field national park and Gorden dam. Derek is a tremendous host , full of information on the area and Tasmania in general. We had as much free fire wood as we wanted, water available and a beautiful grassed area over looking the Derwent river. If you like wine, grab a bottle or two of Derek’s reds he makes on the property, and for a hot tip ask him to give you a tour of his vineyard. Thank you Derek for a wonderful 5 night stay. Hopefully we will be back in a few weeks.

Ein sehr schöner campground. Nette und umsichtiger Gastgeber. Man hat dort seine Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit ohne auf Annehmlichkeiten verzichten zu müssen. Viele Tiere sind zu sehen, man kann sie beobachten oder selbst füttern. Die Anfahrt ist etwas verwirrend, aber wenn man es gefunden hat wird man belohnt. Wir empfehlen es unbedingt weiter.

This is our second time camping at Derek's farm and his gem is now our favourite spot in Tassie. Derek is one of the nicest hosts ever. He has so much knowledge of the area. He brough some carrots and apples for the kids to feed the friendly horses. We had had a wonderful time and have already booked for the new year. Thank you Derek for sharing your beautiful property. We had such an amazing time at Ryelands again. Derek is such a wonderful host bringing carrots for our girls to feed his horses while also giving them both a little keepsake of a Spotted Quoll. This spot is beautiful and pure bliss with ample space for a group of just to enjoy on your own right by the riverside. Plus the wine Derek makes is fabulous! We will be back again

Derek's place is stunningly beautiful, you are camping right on the river with plenty of flat space to perch. We have a rig that's the max size recommended for the site and it was a breeze to get in and out. The vista is stunning, peaceful and the site is so private and very well maintained, with clean tables and chairs and fire pits to use. The free firewood appreciated. Great communication and clear instructions. A very special place, thank you Derek.

Hosts were super accommodating to the fact that I accidentally booked the wrong night!! As a young solo female traveler I felt so so safe! Got to meet the owner and their neighbour who were lovely, jack the wombat was good fun!! Driveway was a little intimidating but I made it up in one piece :) Well worth the stay, hope to come back soon! Thanks for the stay!
