Heggies Hill Bush Camp

Nestled amongst the stunning landscapes of the Southern Flinders Ranges, our bush camp and Canoee’s Realm glamping offer breathtaking views and an immersive experience in native Australian flora and fauna. Enjoy the tranquility of private campsites, each equipped with a fire pit (seasonal) and access to non-potable water, along with the convenience of two full flush toilets. 

Ideally located as a hub for exploring the Mid North, you can set off on scenic day trips and return to camp for a sunset dinner by the fire. For those wanting a night off from cooking, the historic Tarcowie Pub is just five minutes down the road, serving cold beers and hearty meals. Whether you’re spotting wildlife at dawn or relaxing under a star-filled sky, this is the perfect escape for nature lovers seeking adventure and tranquility. 

Bush campers should come prepared to be self-sufficient. While toilets and non-potable water are available, there are no shower facilities or drinking water provided. However, glampers at Canoee's Realm can enjoy full amenities for a more comfortable stay.

Maverick's Rest - Alpaca Farm Stay

Welcome to Maverick's Rest, a serene escape tucked away on the outskirts of Peterborough, South Australia, and connected with our working alpaca farm and newly planted lavender

Only 700m off the main Petersburg Road (entry off Dawson Road), Our bush campsites offer a blend of natural beauty, and rustic charm, with each site positioned amongst old native pines, offering views of both sunrise and sunset, along with the open farmland, distant hills, and animals doing their thing.

Each site features a level pad to keep you out of the dirt and the prickles, while defining your spot. There are also firepits and bins on each site.

We currently require all campers to be fully self-contained, providing their own toilet, water, and power for a true off-grid experience. We are a work-in-progress and constantly chipping away at making things even better!

The centrepiece of the campsite is an absolutely stunning stone ruin. We wish the walls could talk to tell us its story! We are currently working on making this space accessible to all our guests. In the mean time fell free to have a look through, it makes for gorgeous photos.

We are pet-friendly. Please note that all animals must be supervised and kept on a lead at all times. As a working farm, we ask that you refrain from allowing your animals to interact with ours for everyone's safety and peace of mind.

Only 2.5km from the centre of the main street, use us as a base to explore Peterborough and surrounds.

PS: Maverick was the name of our favourite stud male alpaca, and the dad to many of our babies. He was on TV, in weddings and the star of many a photo shoots. A true character, you would have loved him - just like we hope you love this campsite.

Catninga Camps & Accommodation

Located between the Northern Flinders Ranges and the Southern Flinders Ranges, but only a quick 20 mins from full shopping and medical needs.

Set with a backdrop of high mountain ranges, deep gorges and looking towards blue waters of Spencer Gulf, 'Catninga' is the perfect choice to give you a taste of the Flinders Ranges and some outback charm. 

We have stunning bush camping options including some powered sites; 'On Site Retro Caravan' or our 'Carriage BnB'; or 'Tiny House' (view separate listings to book these).

Many hiking trails and nature walks.  Our Peter Goode Gully Hike joins the Heysen Trail to take you to the top on Mt Brown.  Selected farm animals to see and feed (please ask hosts before approaching any farm animals).

Bush Camping

Private bush campsites with no close neighbours located on the banks of a River Red Gum studded creek. Stunning scenery and beautiful sunsets. Enjoy our billion-star camping accommodation. Private long drop toilet available at each campsite.  We also have fun & quirky 'shower trees' at some bush campsites.

Pichi Richi Park

Pichi Richi Park is our family owned and operated property, 13km south of Quorn in the heart of the Pichi Richi Pass.
We have plenty of campsites, including bush campsites that are secluded and private, along with campsites that are much closer to our bathrooms, group accommodation, kitchens and bush cabins.
Here at Pichi Richi Park, there are a number of signposted walking tracks ranging in distance from a few km up to a 10km+ loop. The Heysen Trail comes through our property for nearly 7km and some of our own walking tracks link with the Heysen as it meanders through our property.
You can also ride your mountain bike around and the Mawson Bike Trail is not far away.
We have over 1,000 acres of land around our accommodation that we do not graze as we are allowing this beautiful piece of Aussie outback to return to its original and pristine state.
We are not a caravan park, so all campers and caravanners that come here get a fair bit of space and nobody is on top of anyone else.
Quorn is our local town and is 13km away to the north. Quorn has 2 pubs, a number of cafes and a little supermarket that is open from 7am to 8pm 7 days a week.

Cartapo Creek - Farm Stay

Want to have a unique camping experience away or sick of crowded caravan sites? Or perhaps you just need a tranquil break from the city or a weekend away from your hectic life?

Cartapo Creek - Hobby Farm is suitable for on and off-road caravans, 4WD, 2WD & AWD vehicles. Suitable for multiple groups that want to camp together.

We have a 35 acre farm at the base of the Mt Lofty Ranges in Hallett. To the east of us is Mt Razorback and Mt Bryan which is part of the Heysen Trail. We have a mixture of Sheep, Cows, Pigs, Alpacas, Chickens and Peafowl roaming the property. Campers will be separate from roaming livestock, however can access them easily if they wish.

Spear Creek Holiday Park

Spear Creek is more than just another Holiday Park.
Set immediately adjacent to the Western slopes of the Flinders Ranges in the middle of a 21,000 acre working sheep station providing privacy, security and an experience like no other. 
Spear Creek is located 25 kilometres south-east of Port Augusta, only 12km off Highway 1. Our eastern boundary follows the summit of the ranges north from Horrocks Pass, with walking trails through deep gorges to range top views of upper Spencer Gulf. The Holiday park is nestled amongst 600 year old river red gums adjacent to the ranges.
You may meet any of the three different species of kangaroos, echidnas, or 85 species of birds including wedge-tail eagles and peregrine falcons who call Spear Creek home.
The owner operators of this tourism business are fourth generation, whose families have been farmers and graziers on this land for over 130 years.

Rocky River Off-Grid

This campsite is mostly flat with the Rocky River running through my property, surrounded with river gum trees and plenty of bird life including kookaburras and Corellas. 

The property is fairly central to the localities of Laura, Stone Hut, Wirrabara, Melrose and Wilmington. Port Pirie is about 50km away if you need any major conveniences or supplies.

You will need to be self-contained with your own camping toilet/shower and drinking water supply. We grow veggies on our land - if you would like some for your campfire dinner please ask me. Campfires are allowed.

Vagabond Panorama Camp

Vagabond Panorama Camp offers something truly special. Set your rig up and kick back at our hilltop campsites, with stunningly beautiful panoramic views of the Flinders Ranges and Spencer Gulf. 

The location is hard to beat. Fantastic for swimming, kayaking and fishing, with a nearby boat ramp. There's also a community garden and public BBQs close to camp, as well as a sandy beach with mangroves, and a walking track that takes you around the island. 

Campers must be self-contained as we don't have toilet or shower facilities. You'll have access to water onsite. And you're welcome to bring your pet along! 

Town is just 10-minute drive away for your essentials.

Echo Holiday Parks - Port Pirie 

Framed by the remarkable Southern Flinders Ranges, Echo Holiday Parks - Port Pirie beckons to travellers, inviting them to explore beyond the Park when embarking on a journey to further adventure into the iconic outback or taking time to immerse within the Park when seeking a calm holiday on the waterfront. The Park is right next to Solomontown Beach, which is great for leisurely strolls, a refreshing swim and fishing off the jetty. It is also only a short drive from the main street of Port Pirie, where guests can stock up on necessities, get a bite to eat, and discover the historic pride of the town.

Heyson Base Camp

This property is a portion of a large working farm. We have cattle, sheep, cropping, and horses. The property is approx 12,000 acres with amazing ranges that sometimes see snow in winter.

Tent, Swag or Campervan at Heyson base camp. Enjoy the lovely Gum lined Dry Creek with blue stone ruins of times gone by.

Enjoy a short hike to the Wind Turbines and see up close how magnificent these green energy windmills work. Or enjoy a hike along the famous Heyson Trail at the top of the range. See the stars in all their glory whilst cuddling up in front of the camp fire. Wake up to grazing cattle, sheep and wildlife on a beautiful working farm.

The campsite is nestled amongst beautiful old gums and pine with sweeping views of the valley in front and a gorgeous range out the back. Plenty of Shade and places to explore.

Dogs on Lead only. Host approval required at booking.
Pit toilet available, BYO toilet paper.
Bin provided for waste. Please use this or take it home with you.

There are livestock on the property, please do not approach livestock unless Host is with you.

Just a short drive of 30 minutes to the town of Burra you can enjoy the Passport Key and see the rich heritage of the copper mining era. Jamestown is 25 minutes drive where you can explore the bundaleer forest or see the tesla battery.
