Welcome to Maverick's Rest, a serene escape tucked away on the outskirts of Peterborough, South Australia, and connected with our working alpaca farm and newly planted lavender Only 700m off the main Petersburg Road (entry off Dawson Road), Our bush campsites offer a blend of natural beauty, and rustic charm, with each site positioned amongst old native pines, offering views of both sunrise and sunset, along with the open farmland, distant hills, and animals doing their thing. Each site features a level pad to keep you out of the dirt and the prickles, while defining your spot. There are also firepits and bins on each site. We currently require all campers to be fully self-contained, providing their own toilet, water, and power for a true off-grid experience. We are a work-in-progress and constantly chipping away at making things even better! The centrepiece of the campsite is an absolutely stunning stone ruin. We wish the walls could talk to tell us its story! We are currently working on making this space accessible to all our guests. In the mean time fell free to have a look through, it makes for gorgeous photos. Want more? - Add on an Alpaca Meet and Greet Experience, where you can meet and hand-feed our friendly alpaca herd, and learn about these amazing creatures. During this experience you will meet our alpacas, llamas, camels and others. Book now when you book your site as an add-on for a discounted rate. - Indulge in our breakfast pack, featuring farm-fresh eggs, bacon, and yummy sausages from our award winning butcher. As a working farm, we ask that you refrain from allowing your animals to interact with ours for everyone's safety and peace of mind. Only 2.5km from the centre of the main street, use us as a base to explore Peterborough and surrounds. PS: Maverick was the name of our favourite stud male alpaca, and the dad to many of our babies. He was on TV, in weddings and the star of many a photo shoots. A true character, you would have loved him - just like we hope you love this campsite.

We loved our stay at Maverick's Rest - Site 4. The drive thru site had plenty of space for the family and we enjoyed being able to have a campfire. Amee was lovely and very accommodating. We all had a great time being able to feed and meet the animals. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful stay.

Great camping spot with plenty of space between the four sites. Amee and her daughters were very hospitable and helpful. The alpaca tour and feeding was super and we appreciated the drop off firewood service each night too. Highly recommended

We loved our stay at Mavericks Rest. A wonderful alternative to the free camping option of the RV stopover. A much more peaceful camp and just a few minutes out of town. We would highly recommend giving Mavericks Rest a go. Was also great doing the Alpaca Farm experience. Emma was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic - a pleasure to see someone loving what they do. Thank you!

Amee and her family made us feel very welcome and were there to assist in any way possible. The big, gravel parking area was so much more comfortable and gave us flexibility of parking arrangements. Amee was very knowledgeable of local historical aspects and she have us some great information.

Amee's camp is a very beautiful quiet spot. The stone ruin adds character and makes a lovely photo at sunset. The sites are all large with gravel, and are virtually level. Fire pit and bin provided. While I don't have children, the opportunity for families to feed the farm animals is a great concept. Amee has a wonderful vision for her future, and its nice to know that camping at her farm is helping her a little bit to achieve that dream. I definitely recommend this spot, and I hope to return to see how things have progressed.

Fantastic stay ! Amee and girls are such wonderful hosts. Great sized, flat and well spaced campsites. Beautiful view over the farm and it was so nice to meet and feed the Alpacas and Camels. Thankyou Emma and Amee !! We are looking forward to returning and recommend 100%.

I would stay here again when coming through. The sunset and sunrise was beautiful. Each site had compact road base so there were no prickles and a level site to setup on. Each site has space between and couldn’t hear our neighbours. Site two would be my pick

An absolutely fantastic place to camp. Plenty of space and beautiful sunsets. We did the farm tour and feeding and all loved it especially the kids. We are all looking forward to another visit especially our youngest who didn't want to leave.

Mavericks rest was a perfect stop for my family and I. The sunsets from the campsite were wonderful to sit back and watch with a late drink. The meet and greet experience with the animals was the absolute highlight for us. Amee spent her time showing us around and giving us feed to hand feed her multitude of animals!! She was very knowledgeable and my children enjoyed the experience immensely. I highly recommend this as a stop for any traveller coming through Peterborough or even a weekend up from Adelaide!!!

Like your own little slice of paradise! We had such a nice night here and only wish we could have stayed longer. A 2 minute drive into town. Very safe, we were the only ones here. Would highly recommend and well worth the money. Thank you for having us!!
