Edgehill Farm Stays Riverton

25 sites · RVs, Tents200 acres · Riverton, SA
Edgehill Farm Stays is located between Barossa and Clare Valley, 7km out of Riverton, and 1 hour north of Adelaide. We run a sheep and cropping farm which creates beautiful camping grounds at the foot of the hills, just below the Heysen Trail. The campsites are located on the pasture paddocks of the farm with sheep roaming the area, occasionally, so dogs on leashes at all times please. With large distances between other campers, each site can cater to large groups, with no close neighbours. The sites are at least 2km away from busy roads, so absolute peace and privacy! There's a beautiful push bike ride from Riverton to Clare Valley and all the wineries are along the way. Plenty of room at the property for kids to ride their push bikes. Fantastic sunsets and sunrises from all sites, beautiful bird noises, including the kookaburras having a laugh. There's a very very basic "long drop toilet" pit toilet located near the Gumtree paddock and 5 others shared, down close to the camping paddocks, if not wanting to use shared toilets, please bring and supply your own portable toilet. Great coffee, cafe, and pub meals are available in Riverton. IGA food store is open 7 days a week, and a lovely clothing Boutique, Sassy Lass, is also open most days. If you are unable to arrive before 8pm, please make a booking for the following day instead Please supply your own wood. Strictly no chainsaws. generators only allowed on the unpowered sites. Hay Valley Farm

6 sites · RVs, Tents13 acres · Hay Valley, SA
The Hay Valley Farm is perched on a ridge that looks west towards Mount Lofty and east towards Murray Bridge. We have stunning views from both sides of the ridge and in particular we get beautiful sunrise and sunset views. We are a working farm with a vineyard, orchard and livestock. Our farm is also situated right in the heart of the Adelaide Hills Wine region so we really do have the best of both worlds; stunning views & peaceful surroundings plus amazing wineries, restaurants, cafes and quaint country towns right at our finger tips. Picture waking up to beautiful views of the Mount Lofty Ranges on one side, a stunning sunrise on the other and native birds singing sweetly all around you. At The Landing you'll be surrounded by big beautiful old gum trees in a peaceful farm setting. You'll see a variety of bird life, kangaroos and maybe even a koala or an echidna if you're lucky. The Landing is also situated right in the heart of the Adelaide Hills Wine region with amazing wineries, restaurants, cafes and quaint country towns right at your finger tips. Lot 100, Howard Vineyard, Murdoch Hill, Artwine, Bird In Hand Winery, Simon Tolley Wines and Barristers Block Wines are only a short drive away. So we really do have the best of both worlds; stunning views, peaceful surroundings and award winning wineries and eateries close by. And after a day of touring the region make sure you're back in time to watch the sun go down because the sunsets are spectacular. So don't forget to pack your comfy camp chair, a bottle of wine or beer, and a cheese platter and get ready to relax and unwind at The Landing at Hay Valley. Please read and note the following: 1) Please note our base price of $30 per night is based on two people per night, even if there is only one guest staying. It is an extra $15 per person per night for any additional adult guests or $10 per child per night. 2) We only book one group at a time at the site so if you book you'll have the whole area to yourself. 3) There are no toilet/shower facilities available so please be self sufficient. If you are staying longer than one night you need to bring your own portable chemical toilet please, as per Hipcamp’s rules. 4) There are sheep and friendly goats living on the site at the moment. The sheep won't bother you but the goats may come and say hello but shouldn't bother you. Please don't feed them as then they will pester you. 5) We do not issue refunds for bad weather. Please make sure you check the weather conditions are suitable for your stay. If the weather is windy across South Australia it will most likely be windy at The Landing, as it’s an open area surrounded by trees. Hope you enjoy your stay :)

Mountainous camping near Swan Reach guide

Overview

The mighty Murray River is the lifeblood of Swan Reach. Perched on the leafy riverbanks, this historic riverport is a rural getaway for campers seeking peace, quiet, and to get on the water. Bring your own boat or watercraft to explore the creeks and billabongs, cruise beneath the cliffs of nearby Big Bend, or rent a houseboat and spend a night on the river. As for dry land adventures, how about wine tasting in the Riverland wine region, a game of golf at the riverside course, or bush camping and stargazing at Swan Reach Conservation Park, an International Dark Sky Reserve?

Where to go

Riverland

Swan Reach lies on the southern cusp of the Riverland, South Australia’s largest wine region. As well as wine tasting amid the vineyards, stop by riverfront towns like Renmark, Loxton, and Berri, paddle the wildlife-filled wetlands of Murray River National Park, or go hiking along red-gum forest trails. The Murray River is omnipresent, whether you want to boat, paddle, fish, or pitch your tent by the shore.

Barossa Valley

West of Swan Reach, the Barossa Valley is home to some of South Australia’s most prestigious wineries and idyllic countryside. Rent a bike to cycle the vine-clad hills, come in fall to admire the changing foliage, or spend the summer hopping between cellar doors, farmer’s markets, and farm-to-table restaurants—Barossa is a foodie paradise.

Adelaide Hills

Just a 1.5-hour drive from Swan Reach, the verdant slopes of the Adelaide Hills hug the eastern borders of Adelaide. Follow the winding country lanes to reach picturesque villages, pick-your-own-fruit orchards, and family-run wineries, or go bushwalking or cycling along miles of wooded trails. Campers will find plenty of options around the villages of Aldgate, Woodside, and Hahndorf.

When to go

Summertime (December through February) draws crowds to the riverbanks, but late spring and early autumn are also ideal times to cruise the Murray or enjoy water sports along the river. Temperatures climb into the lower 30s°C in summer, but winters tend to be mild, so you can camp in your motorhome or caravan all year round.
