Beautiful quiet setting amongst oak trees. In the warmer months there’s a clean water dam for a freshen off, also for convenience is a conventional toilet for comfort and running water. We welcome those who choose to stay to enjoy a campfire at your campsite and firewood is available for purchase, kids will have plenty of room to run around and explore and your fur babies are also welcome. There is plenty of wildlife for spotting and our property has a very peaceful feel about it and is very humbling for the soul.

Talisker is an 11 bedroom, 5 bathroom home at this stage. Initially forming part of the Merino Downs pastoral run (taken up by Francis Henty in 1836). Talisker passed to Francis’s daughter Caroline on the death of Francis in 1889. Merino Downs was one of the first three squatting runs established in Victoria. Following Caroline’s marriage to Angus McLeod, the Talisker Homestead was commissioned by architect Charles D’Ebro prominent for his design of Stonnington (Malvern) and Langi Willie (Skipton). The homestead (circa 1901) is a large U shaped designed Edwardian home of some 26 rooms (not all are available to guests as some parts of the home are undergoing further renovations). Featuring a viewing tower with expansive 360 degree views, elaborate plasterwork, colour leadlights and handsome timber and marble mantles throughout the home. The original garden design is evident with Bunya Bunya pines, a large Oak and a Kurrajong tree. Talisker is named for Angus McLeod’s (please note McLeod and MacLeod are used interchangeably) ancestral seat on the Isle of Skye. Talisker was for centuries a possession of the Clan MacLeod. In 1820 Donald Macleod, 6th of Talisker, sold his interest in Talisker and emigrated to Van Diemen's Land, now known as Tasmania. In 1825, Hugh MacAskill took over the Talisker estate and completed the clearance process begun under his predecessor. Five years later, in 1830, he founded the Talisker Distillery and the legendary Talisker whisky was born.

The owner was super friendly and communicated well, and it was on a beautiful piece of land. Surrounded with alot of wildlife such as emus, kangaroo and koloas. Totally private, the facilities were clean and easy to get to. I camped with a my dog and bird.

Beautiful tree lined campground, plenty of animals around (koalas, possums and kangaroos) and great for tent camping. Bring your own toilet paper for the outhouse style toilet and plenty of drinking water. Kylie met us at the beginning of our stay and was so welcoming. Would stay again and recommend to others 😊

Beautiful spot to set up camp and unwind. We set up amongst the oak trees and ordered the firewood and drum which was delivered and set up for us which was amazing. We enjoyed the stars, fire and wine and the visit by the local koalas. Would recommend staying there.

Staying at Kylie and family's farm was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The location is peaceful and beautifully, surrounded by open fields and native animals. Kylie is a fantastic host—super friendly, quick to respond, and clearly passionate about sharing her land with travelers. She’s created a space that’s both simple and magical, with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy nature. We loved waking up to the sunrise over the paddocks, the farm has a charm that’s hard to describe. If you're looking for a quiet, rustic escape with genuine country hospitality, this is the place. Stayed for 2 nights in this peaceful haven. Kylie and her family are the nicest people you will ever meet and her communication was outstanding. We had our dog with us and the resident farm dogs Belle and Wal had a ball playing zoomies. Plenty of shady sites (we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves) and ample area to walk dogs. Emu's, kangaroos, koalas - all represented and the bird life is abundant. The flush toilet is a reasonable distance from the camping area but very welcome. A very, very quiet and peaceful place to chill and decompress. Thanks for sharing this space Kylie.
