We are a work-in-progress and constantly chipping away at making things even better! The centrepiece of the campsite is an absolutely stunning stone ruin. We wish the walls could talk to tell us its story! We are currently working on making this space accessible to all our guests. Lovely place to pitch the van, lots of space, easy access. If we stay abain, we'll pitch above the little house, abit more away from the road. Highly recommended for a great off grid stay!

This was our second stay at Mavericks Rest, both overnighters. We really loved the open landscape and peacefulness of being in the countryside. In April 2025 it was very much in drought, while this time it was very green and in good condition. Regardless we loved both times. We’d definitely return if we were passing through. Highly recommended.

Nice and quiet spot with a fire pit and plenty of privacy. We didn't see or hear a car or other person during our stay - it was awesome to not be packed in like a sardine like in the public camp grounds that you still need to pay to stay at. We will be back!

2 nights at Ruff Run Camping

We loved our stay at Toby’s Hipcamp as we’ve visited that area many times staying at Burra Creek Gorge at Worlds End etc. But to have such spacious rolling hills interesting farmland to ourselves we felt privileged and didn’t leave Ruff Run for the whole time. The simple things like walking up the escarpment to magnificent views sitting by a great fire pit with dry wood supplied and enjoying the cacophony of birds at times. It was pure magic and great for the soul to get away from hectic living. Thanks Toby. You couldn’t be more helpful. Cheers

1 night at Maverick's Rest - Alpaca Farm Stay

The old ruin was a great place to photograph our site. It was quiet and you couldn’t hear the noise from the town. It was lovely to see the cows and their calves come and investigate us. We also loved seeing the alpacas frolic in the paddock. They were very inquisitive and such beautiful colours. Some of the boys got out and it made us google the mating regimes of alpacas. Very interesting.

Such friendly hosts. Aimee and her 2 daughters. We’ve just had 2 nights there and enjoyed every aspect of it. Beautiful setting with a ruin nearby and views out over the surrounding paddocks filled with Alpaca, cows, a couple of camels and a pig. We were able to book an experience to meet and feed the animals (dont try to feed the pig) and visit their art gallery and small shop. Lovely items to look at and buy if you want a momento. Would recommend this place to everyone. Nice level sites all with fire pits and only a few to ensure space. Well thought out. Thanks to our hosts for a lovely stay
