The Scrub Campsite located in remnant vegetation (14 minutes from Victor Harbor ) is a rustic self check in campsite as the owners do not reside near the campsite.
Campers choose their site in the designated camp spots. Sites are not allocated unless by prior arrangement.
Persons under 18, youth groups, school groups or scout groups etc. are not permitted to book at the campsite.
A communal camp kitchen, water tanks and compost toilet is available for campers use. Fire pits are located at each site. Campers will be advised of fire bans.
Wood can be purchased from the self service white ibc container for $15 for 20kgs.
Please adhere to the camp rules which are posted at each campsite.
The campsite is located on the Heysen Trail and close to many Lower Fleurieu Peninsula beaches and attractions. The popular Belicious Cafe is a 45 minute walk.

We have completed the build of our Homestead after the devastating fires of January 2020 destroyed our original cottage. The Homestead consists of 2 separate units under one roof and is located in a lovely garden setting in the middle of the island. It is self-contained, with the option of catering on request
Unit 2 is fully set up for mobility-impaired and/or wheelchair access.
We have limited Wi-Fi access and smart TVs. We are pet-friendly, so if your dog is well-behaved, you are welcome.
The space
The Homestead consists of 2 separate units under one roof, as we wanted to cater to large families or befriended families traveling together, as well as individual people. We called unit 1 on the eastern side "Hammer's Cove" after a volunteer who helped us build for 7 months and called himself " The Hammer". Unit 2 on the western side is called Western River Cove after our favorite local beach.
Each unit consists of a fully equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs, a fully operational laundry including a washing machine, dryer, and ironing options, and several spacious living and dining areas. Each unit has 2 bedrooms with comfortable queen beds and French doors leading to the wide verandahs with a view of the countryside. Unit 2 is fully wheelchair accessible, the bathroom is open plan without barriers, and rails are installed. The bathroom in Unit 1 has a spacious shower alcove with modern amenities.
The dining rooms are incorporated in the large kitchens, the living areas have extendable 2 1/2 seater lounges to cater to additional people, as well as smart TVs and bookcases with games and books for all ages. The exceptionally wide verandahs surround the entire Homestead and provide 2 separate outdoor settings, a large gas BBQ, and several smaller seating options to enjoy the view from sunrise to sunset.
This is a dream for entertaining and feeling at home away from home for any traveler.
The Homestead is built adjacent to the AustralianRedGumGallery which is a fully operational woodturning studio and gallery where Jonny does his magic and creates amazing functional art. The gallery also has a pool table and a dart board, which our guests are welcome to use with care.

The Villa is independent of our home, and is on its own 5-acre plot, nothing in your view except the occasional horse, the paddocks, and the sea. We have resident kangaroos and the occasional echidna that visit plus lots of bird life. We have hosted weddings, many anniversaries, and lots of special occasions plus guests who live in Adelaide and appreciate being able to hop in the car, drive for an hour and find themselves in our little bit of heaven, a real rural retreat but only ten minutes to two small towns with supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and most everything else you might need.
You have the entire Villa, which is very private, a verandah out front to enjoy the view out to sea and Kangaroo Island, and a fully enclosed courtyard in the rear to chill and enjoy the sunshine. The Villa is also wheelchair friendly, all entrances are wide, including French doors to the lounge and both bedrooms, a very large double shower with sliding doors, a raised toilet for people with issues, two toilets, and a separate vanity area. It is ideal for two couples as there are two bathroom areas, one with a vanity and toilet and the other with shower, vanity, and toilet.
We are pet-friendly and have a lovely shady paddock for your pony and an enclosed yard for your dog. We do allow pets inside but ask that you let us know if you intend to bring your pets with you. There is a cleaning fee if there is dog hair over furniture and soft furnishings, please bring their bedding and don't let them on beds and sofas.

Wonderful secluded campsite with excellent privacy between sites. Lots of bird life. We didn’t use the shower or kitchen, but the composting loo was great.
We’ll definitely be coming back to spend more time just relaxing away from the city.

great range of sites available with lots of privacy between tent spots. Bookings are capped so you'll never be surrounded by other groups! Eco toilet is MUCH nicer than a traditional drop toilet - and somehow didn't smell though we were there in the peak of summer! Great spot to star gaze and escape from the city :) Victor harbour not far at all if you need to pop in to town :)

Loved our stay at The Scrub Campsite. Compost toilet was tidy and toilet paper supplied. Common area with sink, BBQ and table and the play equipment for kids was great. Was sad to see some other campers not respecting the leave it better motto.

Marc and Alison’s land was peaceful, well maintained, and exactly what we were looking for. The site felt private and quiet, surrounded by nature, which made it perfect for relaxing and unwinding. Everything was clearly explained, easy to access, and thoughtfully set up. Marc and Alison were friendly, responsive, and respectful of privacy while still being available if needed. We felt very welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a calm and stress-free camping experience.

Nat and Stu are so kind to share their place! It’s such a lovely, Private bush escape and has some big perks like a verandah for shelter and a toilet. We were super comfortable with our rooftop tent here, even our dog could come which made it soo good! It’s also very close to the west part of the island with Flinders Chase and some of the southern spots to visit like Vivienne Bay, Hanson Bay, and Seal Bay so we did a few day trips very easily. Cute little getaway not far from Adelaide had a Ecco toilet and shower if you need 10 sites to choose from games to play wooden go carts swings fire pits at each site undercover communal are with 2 large bbq’s couch and table and chairs scattered around it’s has plenty of nature to see ducks on the dam bunnies and kangaroos hopping around cute little blue birds galas and white cockatoos true nature fix so close to home but you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere I highly recommend
