Only one booking allowed at each site so you will have the site to yourself, although you are able to book so friends can also stay with you. Pull in, light a fire, watch for falling stars, walk the dog and let the kids explore. Check the sunsets that never fail. Amenities depend on the site booked - check the options listed. Longreach is only 10 km away. The sites are 15 amp powered and under the cover of a large hay barn. Showers (4) and Toilets (4) are available. Campfires are welcome when there are no restrictions in place, please keep them contained and ensure they are completely out before leaving them unattended. Goodberry Hills is a 40,000 acre working cattle property 37 kilometers north east of Longreach in Central Western Queensland. The property is operated by your hosts the Deane family, Jenny, Rowley, Jess, Phillip and Billy. Our family has been in the area since 1872 and have owned Goodberry Hills since 1950. Guests staying with us must be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Well behaved pets who remain under control at all times are allowed, a two bay dog kennel will be set up near the goat yards on your way into the campsites to provide campers with a safe space to leave their pets if they are spending the day doing tourist activities in the area (it is up to the owner of the pets to ensure the water dishes in the kennels are kept full if they plan to use them). Campfires permitted in the fire pits provided. Our family came to the district in 1872 when Rowley's Great, Great, Great Grandfather Rowland Edkins arrived at Mt Cornish to take up the managers position. Mt Cornish was established from half of the original Bowen Downs holding to enable improved management after Harry Redford (Captain Starlight) stole the mob of cattle and took them to South Australia. The country around Goodberry Hills is where the cattle were stolen from. There is a small hill across the river from the campground known as Starlights Lookout, from where legend has it, Harry Redford would watch the movements of the station stockmen so he could time his raids for when they were unlikely to be about. When the big stations were resumed in 1879 and put to Ballot the family drew several blocks in the district, the main one being Bimbah where family members have lived ever since. Rowley is the fifth generation of the family to call Bimbah home. Goodberry Hills and Bimbah are now operated as one Property. Goodberry Hills was purchased by Rowley's parents in 1950. From then until recently the property ran sheep and cattle as part of an amalgamation of five holdings totalling 90,000 acres. The annual shearing produced around 620 bales of 21 micron wool from 25,000 sheep which were shorn at the Goodberry Hills Woolshed in July each year. A herd of 500 breeding cows were also run with their progeny being grown out to feeders (cattle about 400Kg liveweight ready for entry to feedlots) at around 18 months of age. We now operate Bimbah and Goodberry Hills totalling 40,000 acres running only cattle, with a herd of 300 Charbray Cross Breeding Cows and their progeny through to feeders and depending on the season up to 600 backgrounders (Weaner cattle purchased at around 200kg liveweight and grown to around 400kg liveweight ready for sale to feedlots).

We had stayed at McBride's flowing bore before and booked it. Due to forecast of rain David contacted us and arranged an alternative site for us at the shearing shed. This was an excellent alternative, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks David for making it happen.

We loved our family stay at the shed shearing farm and will defentinley be back in future for such a unique exsperince! David (Host) was very caring a accomadating during our stay and kept us informed with the weather. The hot baths were amazing, nice to relax in while hearing, seing sheep and watching the sun go down was very refreshing after a long day travelling. There is a few goats that like to be around your camp site and are friendly.

We had an absolutely incredible time at Dunblane. From welcoming messages giving clear directions for how to access our campsite and facilities to his arrival shortly after ours, David was a great host and actively involved my two young teenaged boys and I in some genuine farm work, helping him to sort his sheep into their yards. After some pretty intensive labour we soaked our hard working bones in his deep artesian baths that had to be filled up in the afternoon to allow them time to cool for the evening - that’s how hot the artesian water is! Not going to lie, the amenities - as is clearly stated from the outset - are not terribly appealing! We used our own toilet and shower. I wouldn’t recommend relying on those that are there, although they are available if need be. Best to go out fully self contained and just enjoy the genuine farm experience, the gorgeous sunset over David’s expansive land, and the relaxing hot baths at the end of the day. We would do it all over again and will be back if we ever get the chance.

The entire site is well and truly off the beaten track, it is pure and unspoilt. My host was a true bush gentleman, and took the time to come and meet me, and make sure I was set up to be self-sufficient. I will be going back to Goodberry. It is beautiful. If you need to recharge, then set yourself up to go to Goodberry. It is outback central Queensland at its best. Take their advice seriously though; you need to bring everything in except a fire pit and wood. However, once you’re there, you’ll feel free, alone, and truly privileged to experience the natural beauty of the bush.

Ripper place. We drove from Brisbane to Winton and my 5yo boy says the highlight was staying on that sheep station! The big yellow bath was heaven. Need I say more!

We loved the fact that no-one else was camped around us and having a soak in the tub has been a highlight of our lap. The night sky was a bit cloudy at midnight but I still managed to get some great photos, including a colourful sunset. The only thing needed is some shade for the afternoon sun. Because we did not have neighbours we were comfortable starting up the generator to allow us to run our air conditioning. Not everyone has this as a back up for hot days. We would come back again, definitely in the cooler months.

We had a fabulous two nights at Dunblane station. David was so nice and welcoming. The artesian baths were great! The sheering was happening during our stay, which really added to our experience! Our little boys got to cuddle baby lambs and get involved with the workers. Would definitely stay again!

Our stay at Dunblane was such a wonderful experience. We stayed at the shearing shed and arrived at around 5pm just in time to set up and enjoy the sunset from the artesian baths. Then as the sun went down and the sky darkened you get to experience the most amazing sky filled with stars. There was no one else around which made it even more spectacular. We sent David a message as we were arriving and he popped down to welcome us and tell us a bit about his farm. Everything was really well thought out and they have plenty of info on site for you to drive straight in and set up and to learn about the way of life on their property. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area. Thanks David!

Camping at Dunblane is an outback experience that the average city slicker should not miss. David is a very accommodating host and the Jack and Jillaroo experience gives you a real sense of life on a sheep station. The hot artesian baths are the cherry on top and I highly recommend staying at the Shearers shed as well as McBrides for two unique locations. Stepping into the shearers shed is a genuine privilege and the animals that come to the waterhole at McBrides is wonderful. Can’t rave highly enough and so grateful to be able to stay here on our outback adventure.
