Downham Farm is situated on the banks of the Darling River, fifty kilometres upstream from Wentworth, seventy kilometres north to Pooncarie, and eighty kilometres east to Mungo.
The property features three sandbars linked by box and ancient Red Gums, along with a natural billabong and wetland surrounded by magnificent Red Gum forest. Part of the farm includes large red sandhills, where a registered gravesite is located.
Downham Farm is rich in historical, ecological, and cultural significance, including early paddle boat mooring and wood harvesting. A hundred-year-old restored homestead and cottage tell the story of the past, complemented by rustic horse stables and a blacksmith shop. The farm is abundant in natural beauty and wildlife.
For modern amenities, Downham offers a basketball court, tennis court, and a golf driving range with a country twist. Guests can enjoy day access to the river, a boat ramp, kayaking, fishing, fire cooking (on non-fire-ban days), BBQ areas, birdwatching, walking trails, bike and jogging tracks, self-guided tours, a woodshed, an old telegraph track, an airstrip, a rabbit-proof fence, and our version of Big Red Sandhill.

Summers can be hot, but the weir pool ends at Downham and the natural Darling flows in at the northern boundary, creating an excellent fishing spot and a refreshing dip on a hot day. Guests are advised to be SunSmart, drink plenty of water, and respect native venomous species and the river.
Winters are cold at night but glorious during the day. No matter the season, the magic of uninterrupted silence and a sky filled with stars from horizon to horizon is something to behold.

Receptionist was very friendly and informative. Gave us some very good recommendations to food spots , fishing spots and just a map out of Mildura in general which was very helpful.
River end holiday park was very clean and tidy . Amenities were easily accessible, camp site was amazing and we had great neighbours that helped us out along the way.
Overall a very pleasant stay and we would definitely recommend people to stay here and enjoy the great campsite and town.

Such a beautiful and quiet spot, while still having amazing access. Good amount of shade, amazing water access. 30sec from the access road, but zero traffic or road noise (residents only, dead-end) . Hosts were super easy to deal with, and real friendly & genuine. Thanks for sharing your place with us 10/10

Great Hipcamp with a mix of sites including a large grassed area where we stayed (site 4). Kids loved the space to run around and the boat ramp was ideal for a quick splash. Jason was kind enough to let us use the pontoon which has a bbq. Other sites were more secluded and also looked great, we’ll definitely be back to check them out. Located 2i mins from Mildura or a short drive to Wentworth - there’s plenty to do nearby.

This location is beautifully secluded, offering a tranquil and quiet atmosphere—exactly what we needed after two nights in a crowded caravan park. Our 21ft off-road caravan fit perfectly on the site, making it stress-free and comfortable. Such an incredible spot! So many fish to catch, no mozzies or flys either! This is a very unique spot, the river is wide but moving slowly on the bend. Felt so safe swimming there & so much firewood available. Wish I could’ve stayed longer :)

My son& I recently had the profound pleasure of staying at the newly unveiled Drover’s Run at Wildman Camp. A sanctuary so harmoniously integrated into nature that time itself seemed to dissolve. The Drover’s Run, with its thoughtful design and spacious privacy, offered not just comfort but an immersion into stillness. One of the most unforgettable moments came beneath a velvet sky, where we enjoyed a moonlit bath.
But what truly made our stay sacred was the heart of the place: Grant, Maëva, and their three awesome children. Their presence was not only welcoming, it was generative. Conversations flowed, laughter echoed around the campfire, heartfelt stories were shared and we felt loved and at home.
Wildman Camp isn’t just a place, it’s a harmonic field of belonging. We left nourished, grounded, and deeply grateful. It was more than a stay; it was a remembrance.

Rondel River Reserve ticked all the boxes for us and we were able to have a great relaxing time
