If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m deep waterfall, nature at it's best. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in the 90's was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Many unique animals have been seen at the river, including spotted Quolls, Platypus, fireflies, Deer, Goats, Kangaroos, wallabies and many species of birds. Guests are able to walk the entire 2km of river fishing or just enjoying the free flowing water. Nine times out of ten Murray Cod are caught along any part of the river on our fishing adventures. Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

Our stay at Clarence River Wilderness Retreat was absolutely beautiful. The property is so remote and serene that you truly feel like the only people in the world. The river and surrounding nature are breathtaking — the perfect place to slow down and reconnect. Living simply for the weekend was so peaceful and grounding. We had everything we needed; the off-grid amenities were fantastic and thoughtfully set up. We spent our days playing cards, strumming guitar by the fire, watching an incredible storm roll in at night, and soaking up the sunshine the next day while canoeing and relaxing by the river. A special mention to Sharon, one of the owners, who was so friendly, welcoming, and proud of her beautiful property. Hearing her stories about her family and the land made the experience even more special. We felt completely safe, comfortable, and cared for during our stay. we loved staying at The Ranch on Clarence…. it was phenomenal- we stayed for my birthday and had the best time riding and enjoying the beautiful property. Shanti is the best host ever! Bunch house was cosy and clean and brimming with retro charm - the perfect escape.

Campground has heaps of potential for future campers, very professional staff who are passionate about providing a good camping experience for all who arrive from those in tents/swags through to those with caravans. Highly recommend a stay, wander down for a dip in the river or for those who fancy throwing a line in, sit back by the campfire near the river and gaze up at the stars for a relaxing evening.

A beautiful spot with considerate and thoughtful hosts. The Vet Shed is well provisioned with lots of handy things you’d normally have at home. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival. Robyn was very responsive and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely come back with the family and friends.

Peace and quietness. Took us few hours to get there from Brisbane. It was well worth it. River was great, we all had swim in it. We didn't experience anything negative as such. Will definitely be back again.

It is so quiet and picturesque, the view is amazing. Jess has kept it simple yet everything you need is there. We went gold fossicking down the road for a bit of fun. There is a local shop nearby with the bare necessities at a reasonable price. Loved having a fire place .

I loved staying in the bunkhouse at The Ranch on Clarence. It's an amazing property with plenty of animals, breathtaking views, and plenty of places to walk on the property. Add to it that you are really close to Yates Crossings where you can 4wd, go for a swim, or even just go for a nice walk around. I would very highly recommend staying here.

You have to try the Brushtales Bush Cabin hosted by Jess to believe it. My son and I planned on camping, but the long range weather forecast predicted ridiculously low temperatures and a chance of showers, so we upgraded to Jess' cabin. Talk about having everything we needed. Hot showers, wood fire, warm beds and everything that the fully kitted out cabin had to offer. We really didn't need to bring anything! I was very disappointed when my son discovered NBN internet access. My son, not so much! 😀 Like others before me, I am already planning a return trip in the near future. Thanks. John.

Thank you Tiarna and Mike! We loved our stay. The cabin had everything we needed and gave us an awesome break from the pace of normal life. Heaps of birdlife and farm animals, beautiful scenery and a great indoor fireplace to keep us toastie warm. We’ll be back.
