Weekend Trip to Buxton Getaway

It was our second time here and we had site 6 with a nice view of the dam. Toilets were clean and stocked and not too far to walk. The kayaks were fun too.

Great place to get away for a weekend, rustic camp sites that were nicely spread out so you are not too close to neighbors. Clean toilets, fabulous for dogs. Right next to the National Park with a gate from the property with the most beautiful river walks. It was that good we took a quick dip in winter.

Weekend Trip to Colo River Hut

The Colo Hut was a great spot , not too far from Sydney yet far enough to feel away from it all. The hot shower was an added bonus in the cold and having a sink was extremely convenient. The river is a few steps away from the site, we tried fishing but had no luck. The fire pit was great for cooking and keeping warm. Thanks Richard for sharing your property!

We loved staying at Secret getaway Buxton. Camping right by the dam at Campsite 2. Plenty of space for our group. The kayaks were a great addition and the toilet were cleanest we’ve ever seen for a campsite. Thanks to Luvina and Victor who were so lovely and friendly.

Michaela was a great host who made my short stay very comfortable. This is a great spot for those close to NW Sydney suburbs and offers a quiet garden retreat. Together with partner Holger and delightful Teddy the all too friendly dog this little spot is ideal for a day or so away from “The Smoke”

Great place for a weekend getaway. Flush toilet was a great bonus and very clean. Although the campsites are close together it does not impact your feeling of privacy.

3 nights at Behesht Retreat

Staying in Jennifer’s front paddock was perfect for our last minute long-weekend camping with our kids and our car-camping set up. For travel-friendly families this place had a lot of little things that makes short camp trips easy. Most enjoyed sitting by fire pit and sharing games to entertain all the kids. Buxton Getaway

Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.
