Welcome to Sarabah Stud: A Serene Creek-Side Escape Nestled within a stunning cattle and farming property, Sarabah Stud offers a quintessential Australian bush camping experience. Located just 40 minutes from the Gold Coast and an hour from Brisbane CBD, our property is the perfect retreat for families, couples and friends seeking a quiet, nature-focused getaway. The Natural Experience Immerse yourself in our thriving local ecosystem. The property is a haven for native wildlife; keep a quiet eye out for our resident platypus in the creek, or spot kangaroos, wallabies, turtles, and native birdlife throughout the day. As the sun sets, the bush comes alive with the sounds of owls, possums, bandicoots and the crackle of a campfire (permitted in designated firepits, subject to local restrictions). Creek-Side Relaxation Cool off in our dedicated swimming hole—a beautiful, natural spot perfect for a refreshing dip. To protect our delicate aquatic environment and our resident platypus, please note that fishing is not permitted on the property. Facilities & Access We aim to provide a secluded and comfortable yet authentic "off-grid" feel: Amenities: Every campsite is equipped with its own dedicated toilet for your convenience. Please remember to bring your own toilet paper. Navigation: We are well-signed and easily found on Google Maps. We recommend loading your maps while you still have mobile service to ensure a smooth arrival. Vehicle Access: The property is 2WD accessible in dry weather; however, we recommend 4WD during wet conditions - mainly for Stony Camp access. Nathan met us when we arrived and showed us around. Beautiful grassy area with the firepit next to the creek. Plenty of room to maneuver our iload van. Toilet was a bonus and clean. Relaxing and quiet. We didn't have any close neighbours and felt like we had the place to ourselves.

We recently stayed at Stoney Creek and honestly could not have asked for a better getaway. From the moment we arrived, the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty completely blew us away. The campground is surrounded by lush green landscapes, towering trees, and a stunning running creek that flows gently through the property. Falling asleep to the sound of the water each night was so relaxing and exactly what we needed to unwind. One of the most special parts of our stay was the wildlife. If you are lucky enough to spot platypus in the creek, kangaroos grazing nearby in the mornings and evenings, and turtles peacefully swimming along the water. It felt like stepping into a nature documentary. The whole place is incredibly well maintained while still keeping that authentic bush camping charm. The owners were absolutely wonderful and made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. You can tell they genuinely care about the property and about making sure guests have the best experience possible. A special mention also goes to Nathan, the site supervisor, who was warm, friendly, and always happy to help with anything we needed. Nothing ever seemed like too much trouble, and his positive attitude really added to the experience. This is the kind of place that allows you to completely switch off, reconnect with nature, and make amazing memories with family and friends. Whether you enjoy relaxing by the creek, spotting wildlife, or simply soaking in the peaceful nature.

We love camping at Platypus Hole! It's our daughters (8yo and 6yo) favourite camping spot. Feeding turtles, trying to spot the platypus, patting the nearby cows and horses, climbing trees, investigating the beautiful swimming hole. Paradise ☺️

Stoney camp is a Great spot for a couple night getaway no reception tucked away! 3 separate walk ways to the river feels private and tranquil. Friendly staff, with great knowledge of the local wildlife and birds. Definitely will be back.

Lower Platypus
Absolutely loved our time. You can tell a great deal of effort is put into maintaining the campsites and keeping them looking lush and green. The turtles are extremely friendly, one of the workers pointed out the little tomatoes growing along the bank can be tossed in and my goodness did they dive for those! The ducks were also quite amusing to watch. The swimming hole was inviting and beautiful. Found myself sitting on the rocks or lying across a branch watching the birds in the trees above. Only one bit of feedback: the sign in the toilets showing the communal platypus viewing area is pretty clear. It flags an entrance to the platypus viewing are that is in-between lower platypus and platypus hole. Despite it seeming obvious, perhaps a sign similar to the campsite markers pointing out the path you walk down as we had people/families cutting directly through our campsite. It was quite a shock as a group of adults directly walked by my ensuite shower while I was in it with the window down (I hate steam tents). So just be aware that some people aren't so conscientious if you book Lower Platypus. Overall, I would most definitely return to Sarabah Stud Camping and have already recommended to a number of friends. Other than a few not so conscientious visitors at our camp, it was hard to pack up and leave to come home.

We’ve driven past this spot so many times and we are so glad we decided to stay at the mulberry tree site. It’s far away from other campers but only a short walk to the big communal grassy area near the creek and to do some platypus/turtle spotting. Having our own toilet was a bonus. The site was very well maintained, the toilets were so clean, no noise, plenty of animals around and the creek was flowing and so beautiful. Communication was easy and response was fast. We would definitely recommend Roberts property!! 10/10

Lovely part of the world and only 50mins from home. On our first night the two closest camp sites to ours had other campers there but you'd never have known. The second day we had the place to ourselves and wandered around to the swimming hole and the little rapids, which were just beautiful. We camped in our rooftop and brought our own amenities but were pleasantly surprised to find that each of the 5 sites had their own (very clean!) Port-a-loo. Thanks for having us!

We loved our stay in Lower Platypus. The site had ample sun and shade and plenty of space to play frisbee and petanque with our grandchild. We had fun looking for the platypus but no luck this time! This was the best hipcamp we’ve stayed at so far and we will be back:)

Thank you so much for such a lovely stay. We will definitely be back. The Mulberry Tree site was so quiet and spacious and the toilet was immaculate. We saw so much wildlife and the quiet at night was so appreciated. Jackie was so friendly and helpful with suggestions as soon as we arrived. The camp sites are well maintained and the creek was pristine. Thanks again for such a relaxing stay. See you again soon.

We enjoyed our time at Sarabah Stud. We stayed at the corn patch which was next to the pumpkin patch (I believe) and another space of land that wasn’t labelled. Sites are a fairly spaced out, but close enough to hear the other campers, if you are wanting privacy maybe try the mulberry tree spot. The toilet was clean and fresh when we arrived, and they were quick to respond when we ran out of water for handwashing. The creek day area was a nice spot to soak up the sun and go for a dip, although the water was very fresh (cold). I’d imagine it would be perfect in the warmer months. This place is perfect if you’re wanting to relax and not do much as there isn’t anything to do other than swim at the creek or go to the platypus viewing area and watch the turtles and ducks. We ventured out to surrounding attractions to entertain the kids. I believed the camp would benefit from a patch of grass being mowed out and a playground, swings or something for the kids to do was placed there. It would be more family friendly, Otherwise I would say it’s more for couples/nomads to relax and unwind.

We had a great time camping at Mulberry Tree with a large group - it's a private site well away from other campers. Plenty of room in a nice flat space, with a pristine portaloo. A couple of our party saw platypus in the creek near our camp, and it was an easy walk to the swimming hole which we did regularly - what a great spot to swim.

Excellent place to camping, surrounded by wildlife and with great hosts. We forgot to read some rules about collect firewood and the host was very calm and polite to give the right instructions to us. Strongly recommend!

Lovely site out the back of the property away from everyone. Close to the swimming section of the creek with a nice fire pit and places to hitch a tent or rooftop. Lots of wildlife and a very relaxing weekend!
