Pond Cabin

96%
(126)
Cabin · Sleeps 10
Pond Cabin is a beautiful, insulated, timber-frame cabin, on the shore of Little Dyer Pond, a 1.4 mile hike from the parking lot. A spacious rustic downstairs features large picture windows overlooking the pond, a long trestle table and benches, and a woodstove for heat. The sleeping loft can reasonably sleep 8 people, is accessible by ladder stairs, and has a window for ventilation. Winter woodstove wood is provided in a woodshed adjacent to the cabin. An outdoor firepit sits between the cabin and the shore with a picnic table and benches. Campfire wood is provided separate from the woodstove wood. An outhouse is located near the cabin. Campers must park in the lot on Egypt Road in Jefferson, associated with Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley, and walk in to the cabin. In dry months, an off-road style wagon can be pulled to the cabin over the rocky and hilly terrain. When there is snow, a sled offers an easy method of gear and water transport. We do not provide wagons or sleds so if needed, please bring your own. A public hand pump for water is located one third of a mile from the parking lot, about 1 mile from the cabin. Campers will pass it on their hike to the cabin just beyond the Bezon Barn. There is no running water, electricity, or modern amenities, so please be prepared for a wilderness cabin camping experience. Pond Cabin is located at Midcoast Conservancy's 1,000-acre Hidden Valley, offering more than 20 miles of trails to explore. By staying at Pond Cabin, you are supporting Midcoast Conservancy’s mission to protect and restore vital lands and waters in midcoast Maine on a scale that matters.

Cabin · Sleeps 8
Joe and Doe is a spacious timber frame cabin that sits perched on a ridge just north of Lower Haybale Pond, three quarters of a mile hike from the parking lot. Inside this insulated cabin, a woodstove provides cozy heat in the colder months and ample windows allow for ventilation in the summer. Downstairs, two wooden single-wide sleeping platforms run along one wall and a table with benches provides seating for many. The second floor loft is accessed by ladder stairs and contains four additional single-wide sleeping platforms and ample floor space for additional people. Out the front door, a partially covered deck with a picnic table offers outdoor dining and cooking space. Joe and Doe Cabin’s placement above the cliffs makes it feel like you are far away in the mountains with big night skies above the evergreens. Winter woodstove wood is provided in a detached woodshed. An outdoor firepit with benches sits next to the cabin with benches and campfire wood is provided. An outhouse is located near the cabin. Campers must park in our Hidden Valley parking lot and hike, bike or ski into their cabin. In dry months, an off road style wagon can be dragged to the cabin over the rocky and hilly terrain. When there is snow a sled offers an easy method of gear and water transport. We do not provide wagons or sleds so bring your own. A public hand pump for water is located one third of a mile from the parking lot, about .5 mile from the cabin. Campers will pass it on their hike to the cabin as they pass the Bezon Barn. There is no running water, electricity, or modern amenities so come prepared for a wilderness cabin camping experience.

Hermit Hut

Cabin · Sleeps 4
Hermit Hut is a small, insulated, rustic cabin located at the northern end of Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley property, an almost 2 mile hike from the parking area. Tucked away in a clearing, off the beaten path, visitors are more likely to see wildlife than people. Inside the cabin is a woodstove for heat, large windows, two platform bunk beds (no mattresses, so bring sleeping pads) to accommodate up to 4 people, and a table with four chairs. This classic Maine camp is a great setting for individuals and families looking for quiet and solitude. The clearing around the cabin allows for additional use of tent/s, making Hermit Hut ideal for groups. Winter woodstove wood is provided in a woodshed attached to the cabin. An outdoor firepit sits behind the cabin with a picnic table and benches. Campfire wood is provided separate from the woodstove wood. An outhouse is located near the cabin. Campers must park in the lot on Egypt Road in Jefferson, associated with Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley, and walk in to their cabin.
