birkenfoodforest a perpetually unfinished art project in co creation with the beings that dwell and visit here along with sweet Mother Earth. Situated within St'at'imc Nation Traditional Territory. On an alluvial fan supporting a wide spectrum of diversity in the transition zone leaving coastal mountain rain forest, on the edge of semi arid. Bordered on the East by the flowing waters of Lakshmi. To the South, historical Portage road and Mars Xing, my neighbours dovetail log cabin, dated 1859 was once known as Johnnies RoadHouse. To the West the flowing waters of Saraswati and beyond the "Labyrinth" of bluffs known as Juniper Ridge rises to the alpine. To the North primary old growth forest housing a web of game trails connecting Birkenhead lake Provincial Park. This land was horse logged in the 50's, a few elder mother trees remain standing. There are many zones and edges. Including eighty year old Douglas Fir, Cedar, Douglas and Vine Maple,Maturing Cherry orchards, thickets of shrubs and herbaceous ones offering flowers and berries to the many birds and bees.In more recent years there has been much terrace work done offering meadows and forested camp spots, along with continued cultivation of perennial and annual foods and medicinals.

A Beautiful Spot in the upper forty's western side beside the singing waters of Saraswati ,amongst the Big leaf Maple and Douglas Firs. Due to the sensitive nature of being creekside Estuary is suitable for walkins , Renegade Enduro Riders and ,Adventure Motorcycle access. With parking within 30 M for vehicles with good traction or park inside the gate and Hike 100 M.

HeartCenter is one of my favourite spaces! centrally located with easy access just off the the central mainline, which rises directly up from the gate. HeartCenter is on your right as you climb the hill just above the hoop house shop and below the cross road. Quite private considering her central location, as she is nestled in with the land and trees, with a Beautiful view of the Peaks and ridge line above the Eight Mile watershed and the main garden close by.

Gateway offers an enticing view of Gates peak, morning shade and late afternoon sun. an expansive space with an elevated stone patio created for the purpose of practicing and sharing Expressive Arts:) An Ideal space for group play. Easy access to water and power. large Meadow Semi private due to the surrounding rolling terrain, Trees and Hoop House. Enquire in regards to combining Gateway with other sites for Expressive Gatherings!

Mother Tree Is a Ceremonial space. Ideal for uplifting gatherings of all kinds. Located at the midline of the land just above the cross road, 15 meters from the eastern Boarder and the singing Brook known as Lakshmi. Mother Trees dimensions are 26 X 31 meters with an ovaled circumference of 118 meters. She offers beautiful views of Nequatque, Gates Peak and Juniper Ridge intermittently shaded by Cedar Spruce and 200+ year Mother Tree Douglas Fir. She will hold 199 people or 20 + tents with plenty of space in the Middle , Hi Sommer Sun comes a bit later and sets later than most sites. Ideal for uplifting gathering or a couple desiring plenty of space and privacy. For groups needing the space without the clutter of vehicles the parking lot in the lower forty holds 50+ vehicles and if needed we have the space to hold a 100 Vehicles. For full capacity Gatherings campers can be dispersed around the various sites leaving Mother Tree open to receive and hold the group. Large Group rates are open to discussion.

Sweet Spot West is 24X30 feet of flat meadow with sloped overflow parking. 90 meters up from the entrance gate below and shielded from the shop by out buildings. Sandwiched between the central access road and 2025s Garlic harvest. With intermittent shade compliments of a Douglas Fir Overstory and deciduous understory. Ideal for RV's up to 30 feet. also great for vans and tents. Device charging station located at the "Power Shack" above the site. Larger RV's will require us to adjust the location of the picnic table.

Dandelion is Beautiful and very private, located in the upper 40, suitable for 1-5 tents with room left to gather or three small rugged RV's. There,s parking for up to 4 vehicles with good traction. Running water and Outhouse are within a 30 meter walk. No picnic table. Camp fires depend on current conditions. rustic cold showers are available in the lower 40 up from the entrance gate. WheelChair accessibility will require you to bring your own camp toilet and bucket bath at the site. If a group needs to accommodate more than for vehicles and or some of the vehicles do not have the capacity to navigate the terrain, there is ample parking available on the lower 40.

Located in the South western sector receiving first light and first shade. Staff Camp is approximately 1 acre. Surrounding My summer camp and outdoor kitchen area. Covering a wide spectrum of camping needs and styles. some spots are more private than others, some close to infrastructure in various forms of regeneration, some suited for an overnight RV stop over, some car and tent. Others are a stroll through the forest to find a nice spot by the babbling brook beside an erratic boulder..... depending on timing there may be amenities available such as electricity, refrigeration, shared kitchen , there are 3 separate sink and counter in close proximity. There is the Possibility of communal Fire which will likely evolve into a Bio Char harvesting demonstration. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. Surcharges may apply.

Sweet Spot West

After arriving at the camp, the host gave me a few options to choose from, and we agreed to $12 a night. I stayed a week, and was billed twice, then refunded half of one of the charges. One of the caretakers Mike, had been helpful and assured me the single bag of garbage I had, was no problem or cost for him to take to town when he next visits, because I had helped him. I cleaned the site back to the original that I had found. Doug had said that he didn't care if the cut brush was used for fires, especially since he was trying to clean it off the property. I was Billed for trash, cleanup and firewood, which was not part of our agreement. I paid double what I was told, and found the area very unorganized, dirty, with feral dogs roaming the property, and attempting to get into my camp. The host did not hold up his end of our agreement. Doug had specifically asked me to go through hipcamp to have the transaction documented to keep his account in good standing with the app, but assured me the real price would be heavily discounted. This was not the case, and I felt terribly ripped off. I wouldn't trust the "conversation" Doug will present to you.

The place looked like a run down old home stead. Tons of run down cars and junk in the yard. Not a privet little meadow as pictured. We left as soon as we woke up.

Douglas was a super nice guy and gave great recommendations for things to do in town. He also took the time to give us info about the beautiful property and nice walks to take or spots to hang out. Campsite was beautiful. Highly highly recommend! We’ll be back. Thanks Douglas :)

Very easy to find, pristine environment, has the basic facilities to make up for a great camping. quite and clean land and Doug was very helpful explaining where things are and places we could go to enjoy our time by a lake.

Perfect pit stop on my way driving from Whistler to Revy and Doug was a great host and kind human. Amenities were clean and fully functional. Views were great and I slept like a baby. Zero complaints from me.

Doug's setup currently is probably the absolute best in BC. * The camping spots are very secluded. * Doug is a wonderfully nice host with a great deal of knowledge on the land * Plenty of spots to explore even deep forests you can venture onto Overall amazing experience and hidden gem.

Mother Tree

It was a very quiet and peaceful place. The porta-potties were odorless and very clean, and clean water was always available. The campsite was large and open enough to fit over 5 tents, and I enjoyed seeing the stars very clearly at night. If I get the chance, I would love to come back with a group of friends to share this experience. Thank you DOUG for providing such a pleasant place to stay.

The host was nice and campsite was good with lots of space. Pit toilets were very clean. Good location if you want to access Gates Lake, Anderson Lake or Birkenhead Lake. There are people who live permanently on this property is various outbuildings and trailers. Some must have dogs because there were multiple that barked on and off at each other through the night. I’d recommend to the host to bring those dogs inside so you don’t disturb campers sleep.
